    CLARIFICATION! The heavy attacks have equal damage across all common armour types, increasing infested and unarmoured by 50% and scab by 100% from light attacks. This equalized damage (which is very rare) combined with identical weak spot and crit mulitipliers is why it feels so nice to use! Forgot to add this part in!

    I put off leveling Psyker as my last career to 30 because I kept reading people say how bad it was. After leveling it to 30, it's become clear to me that Psyker is the "low skill floor, high skill ceiling" class with the most utility at their disposal to handle just about any situation. I've been playing my psyker for almost 200 missions and have loved every minute of it.

    • @Wurps
      @Wurps ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I started with psyker but have stopped playing it as much since the difference in power to it's similarly roled counterpart veteran is too high, it in no way can even come close to competing with what a veteran can do right now. If you don't play the top difficulty of missions like damnnation shock gauntlet you might not experience these crippling output problems psyker has but in those matches games with multiple psykers and no veterans are very telling as things just do not die as fast as they need to despite using the best builds/weapons obtainable.

    • @rykenxiv
      @rykenxiv  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes! I love playing classes that have high skill ceilings with versatility - always means that something to improve and it feels good when you observe yourself getting better at doing them!

    • @channingtaintum
      @channingtaintum ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Wurps I disagree. The difference between Vet and Psyker is that Vet's class-depth and difficulty boils down to "just shoot it." Psyker can be played as a support, frontline, or carry role, whereas Veteran is pretty much shoehorned into the carry role because of their feats and meta weapon pool. A good Psyker player with a surge, trauma, or voidstrike staff can make a bad Veteran player look like a good Veteran player because everything they're shooting at is either immobilized or on the ground, not to mention the free damage buff to elites in the Psyker's coherency radius. The Force Sword's push can knock a crusher on their ass, and brain burst gives everyone on the team a free 25% damage bonus against a bigger threat. The team isnt really at a disadvantage if they don't have a Veteran, but they _are_ if they don't have a Psyker on their team.

    • @revolrz22
      @revolrz22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@channingtaintum You're also picking it up after a recent round of buffs. Keep that in mind. At the game's release, Psyker was unmitigated garbage.

    • @swissarmyknight4306
      @swissarmyknight4306 ปีที่แล้ว

      I run three different builds: fire, lightning, and autopistol, all with this sword btw. Psyker is so versatile. But also squishy. Very squishy.

  • @UrdnotAkongo
    @UrdnotAkongo ปีที่แล้ว +5

    6:00 Unfortunately Exorcist doesn't work the same way as Transfer Peril, the main word being "repeated" weakspot hits. Meaning you have to be hitting *the same* weakspot multiple times on the same target for the blessing to work, unlike Transfer Peril where you just need to hit *any* weakspot. Easily testable in the grinder. Build peril to 80, swipe across some heads, peril remained 80.

    • @UnCutMeat1988
      @UnCutMeat1988 ปีที่แล้ว

      This frustrates me to no end. I realize it would be kind of broken, but as it currently is, the blessing is just useless

    • @rykenxiv
      @rykenxiv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I went in tested to make sure I knew how it worked. Yes, it doesn't function the same as Transfer Peril where any weakspot hit will quell peril. Rather, it works as long as you get chain weak spot hits. That means, as long as you get 2 or 3 attacks that consecutively get weak spots without missing in between, Exorcist will work. Doesn't have to be on the same target. A single heavy chop across multiple enemies is still consider 1 attack and therefore is not counted as repeated
      I compared an Iliisi with and without Exorcist with the same moveset and the one with Exorcist went from 100 to 0 in 9 seconds of constant combat (i'm sure I missed some chain weak spot hits), but the one without took 13 seconds to quell to 0

    • @Volgson
      @Volgson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rykenxiv Correction: Exorcist requires "repeated weak spot hits" not "chained weak spot hits" and those are 2 different wordings. For example if you take Shred on Eviscerator and do heavy attack it will get max stacks with 1 swing if you hit 5 enemies. While blessings with "repeated hits" wordings will get you only 1 stack per swing of the weapon

    Cheers !

    • @rykenxiv
      @rykenxiv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Purgatus pairs nicely with either of the other force swords and which you choose will be up to your playstyle! The Deimos is your Elite/Special problem solver and does very well at small groups or the ambient enemies (idle enemies patrolling). Obscurus is a decent balance between Deimos and Illisi but I think has the best Warp Strike (what I call the special attack).
      Since both these swords will be used for Elite and Special killing - building into Flak is always good, but then its a choice between Maniac and Unyielding (Maniac is more common in this case)
      Blessing wise, both swords can follow the same builds as I've mentioned in the video for the Illisi, but I think the Obscurus can make the most of Bloodthirsty with its Warp Strike

    This was very insightful. I'm in the process of crafting a bunch of these new force swords (so expensive) - with all these different blessing combos you recommend! I'm not that good a dodging yet (I still need a lot of practise), so I was thinking of the Blessing combo of: *_Slaughterer + Bloodthirsty_* ; which you touched upon.
    If constant dodging isn't ones prefered/perfected playstyle yet, would Special attack spam (as shown in your video); giving 100% Crit chance on Special attack kill + power boost on kill combo from the above blessings be a good enough substitute...?

    • @rykenxiv
      @rykenxiv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! While Riposte and Shred are the more flexible Blessings, Bloodthirsty and Warp Strike spam can certainly work. That being said, the reason I don't give it as a recommendation is because I find its probably way too much overkill given the situations you'll be using it. The only time the Bloodthirsty will proc is if you kill something with the special in 1 hit - which is done on hordes and shooters.
      With Slaughterer alone you can take on a horde and shooters with ease, so I find the value in guaranteed crits on them not as good as being able to have better consistency against things that the Illisi's special won't kill in 1 hit - Elites and Specials.
      Against these enemies, higher crit chance works out better since especially on something like a Mauler who you can't weakspot hit (cuz carapace helmet) but can get body shot crits on works out much better! Hope this helps!

    • @WakingDreamer01
      @WakingDreamer01 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rykenxiv So that's the reason it wasn't as recommened as the others. Amazing feedback/clarification. Just one more thing, for the *_Bloodthirsty_* blessing, do you know if for the latest patch does the 100% crit chance, expire after the first hit - or does it last for 5 seconds? It's one of the last force sword blessings I haven't seen yet let alone collected and tested.

    • @rykenxiv
      @rykenxiv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WakingDreamer01 With the latest change you have 5 seconds to attack something before it disappears. The reason I say attack is because the very next swing you take after getting a special kill, hit OR miss, will use up the Bloodthirsty buff

    The only thing I'm sad about is the special attack not counting as a warp attack, and therefore not working with the "Warp Absorbtion" feat (Gain 10% toughness after killing an enemy with a warp attack), which works on the other two force swords. It would give this sword insane survivability through fast toughness regeneration.

      I have good news for you - Warp Absorption not proc-ing has been acknowledged as a bug (on the forums)! So it should work when they decide to fix it. But yea! Using Warp Absorption to get a chunk of toughness back sounds wonderful for a Battle Mage Build

      @@rykenxiv I would know! I reported it!
      I personally have been having more fun using a close to melee Psyker more than a Zealot given the ease in which Psykers can lock up an area and close the distance against ranged enemies. The tools at their disposal truly seem to reward hyper aggressive playstyles more than those of the Zealot, so long as you don't take too much damage. With the new 25% bonus damage at high peril, with how quickly you can build and maintain peril spamming the force attacks, it's very easy to simply light attack the hordes utilizing that bonus damage until the peril is quelled enough for you to use the special yet again (Which seems to be a 97-98%!!!)

    Good video. The Illisi has been my go-to since the patch and I haven't even considered swapping back to my Antax when I have this beautiful tool to use. It is currently acting as if it has Deflector inately (so it can block bullets, though I doubt this is intentional and will probably be hotfixed sooner or later) and it means I can run it with two damage blessings and still push groups of shooters more aggressively that I would otherwise. It is like the Power Sword in that it's very, very simple to use correctly, and it does almost everything you need it to do, and do it admirably. The Deimos is supposedly just as good (though admittedly I have no experience with it yet) and it's good to see Fatshark is giving us useful and fun toys to play with.

    Still like the original sword more, but I'd use this over the Deimos, because the
    Warp attack on the regular sword is easily good enough for the more powerful mobs. I'm usually only using the sword when hordes overrun anyway, so a single target sword makes no sense to me.

    • @squidinc4376
      @squidinc4376 ปีที่แล้ว

      I though the same thing, but rolled a decent one and took it into Heresy. Lemme just say, its horde clear is WAY better than its description would lead you to believe. Lighting fast attacks that actually do have some horizontal swing to them (not unlike tac axes), and it's light attacks base damage is just nuts, letting you whoop up on elites when you need to. Then of course, it's always nice to have that pocket special that hits like a truck, dropping crushers in about 2 hits with the right blessings/feats.
      I'd recommend giving it a shot if you haven't. I haven't gotten a great Illisi yet, but so far the Deimos has absolutely out-performed both of the others as a horde-clearer, which is not even its supposed purpose.

      @@rykenxiv Yup, the only "mandatory" one is slaughterer because increased power is just so busted on a horde clear weapon. You can hit max stacks in one swing.
      Most people are getting into the groove of spamming charge after every heavy anyways due to the fast passive quell. So getting free guaranteed crit for every single swing might give some new breakpoints on ragers or maulers once slaughterer is fully stacked with mixed horde.
      Both crit chance blessings are even more niche than bloodthirsty IMO. And the Illisi is the weakest force sword for bosses and monsters, so I'm not sure if would be wise to split it's roles like that.

    deimos with slaughterer is waaay better imho, deletes anything in front of you (even hordes) ...
    while this one kinda struggles against couple of elites ...

      I'm glad the Deimos works for you! But for me, it's limited cone of attacks makes it so it takes more work to deal with hordes as compared to the Illisi. That being said, when dealing ambient enemies or small groups, I think the Deimos fairs much better due to its sheer damage!
