We Need to Talk About Tony Martin & Black Sabbath

- Over the past few years I've developed quite the appreciation for Tony Martin's time with Black Sabbath. This is a long overdue video to address that, as well as to go through the unboxing of the latest Anno Domini vinyl boxset that compiles a lot of the material from that era of the band.
Cheers! I haven't listened to these on Spotify yet, but I will. I have a nostalgic relationship with Tyr. I used to work in an old store that sold metal and punk t-shirts and whatnot, and I used to borrow my boss' ipod and he had Tyr on it. I'd play it over and over again, and I thought the guy singing was Dio, because he sounded nothing like Ozzy. It borders on cheesy power metal at times, but I still love it nonetheless. I think Headless Cross is my fave Tony Martin album.

I have the album Tyr on cassette. I bought it when it came out and listened to it countless times whilst I was on holiday with my parents. I think I only had three tapes with me.
Sounds good to me! What were the other two cassettes?
@@linesinwax4996 I think it was Anthrax's Persistence of Time (released roughly the same time as Tyr) and I think it was Wolfsbane's Live Fast, Die Fast.

I want this, but I wish it had the Eternal Idol instead of Forbidden.
Tony Martin era is great! I was surprisingly impressed with the Forbidden remix, even if I find the bass a little too high and the mix very 'modern' and un-90s, if that makes sense. However and regardless, he gives me a lot of hope for the upcoming Born Again remix, which I was concerned about. Most remix jobs seem to make everything worse. Megadeth, I'm looking at you!!
I didn’t know that there was a Born Again remix coming out! I’ve always preferred The Manor Tapes / demos, I’m happy with that!
@@linesinwax4996 Yeah, the original master tapes were eventually found about 2 years ago. I'm just curious to hear, but I suspect I'll end up always reverting to the murky original, just coz it's what I'm used to.
in the u.s.a. dehumanizer was on reprise records. i would guess that since the album did well it was all worked out for that box set. i really don't see why eternal idol wasn't incl here other than label politica and because it already got the deluxe treatment.
I've been trying since forever to get into the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath, but I just can't, it gets too cheesy for my liking and I personally think they get a bit overhyped, it also doesn't help that some Tony Martin Truthers as I like to call them, soured the experience for me. You'd think the pain in the arse, sanctimonious, elitist and obnoxious POS would be Ozzy Osbourne or Dio purists but nope, Tony Martin Truthers.
Can you elaborate on what a Tony Martin Truther is? Hahah
@@linesinwax4996 basically the people that say things like "Black Sabbath was only good with Tony Martin", and dismiss or bash Ozzy and Dio.
