  • Royal Armouries, the national home of arms and armour in the UK, hosted its annual Easter Tournament 3-6 April, 2015. The museum's own champion jouster Andy Deane wanted to ensure he was the winner of the individual Queen's Jubilee Horn Trophy - by any means necessary.
    Witness 50 year old Andy's intense training, here in over 50 pounds of real jousting armour, with Primal Gym's Head Trainer James Walker. (getprimal.co.uk/)

    imagine if I go to the gym in full knight armor? that would be fun!
    UPDATE: Fast forward 7 years into the future and I got myself a budget harness of munitions grade armor. It has some modifications that tailor it to my body so it’s very functional and mobile but it’s only made for LARP and costume purposes. It’s both fun AND hard. It’s mostly logistically taxing because I consistently need help getting it on and off as well as maintenance. It does make me wonder if Knights had a separate harness purely dedicated for training (which would not be out of the realms of possibility as knights often had multiple sets of armor alongside multiple load outs)

      I have done it in most, but not all, of my armor. But definitely the helmet included. The fun part is walking up to a personal trainer with a client and saying "OK, my first day is done. Shall I pass the gear on to her now?"

      With good fitting armour, not bad at all. With crappy Indian imported armour bought off the shelf, like shit.
      Once you get used to it you don't even know its there IF it is made well.

      ***** Well there are loades of good armourers. A simple harness of the late XVth cent would be from 3 to 30.000 € I´d say.
      More is possible ^^ Less not so much...
      XIVth cent is a bit cheaper and imho cooler.

    • @EvilMerlin
      @EvilMerlin 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** As anything depends on what you want, what century, gothic vs. milanese, how you want it made (mild steel, spring steel, stainless steel) and a multiple other things to take into consideration, do you want full, fitted greaves, "gutter greaves", are you using the harness to fight from horse, from foot. Also how wealthy of a fighter you wish to portray. My current harness was about 10 thousand US dollars and took me a while to save up for, its a Milanese harness, but in the Alla Tadesca style (Milanese copy of German Gothic amours), its made of heat treated spring steel and I have exchange pieces to fight from both horseback and foot.

    where are the posting that this cann't be a real armour???? Because everybody knows, that you can not do such things in armour. You even need a Ladder or stairs to climb a horse.
    Did the time really come where this nonsens point of view is finally gone??? I hope so :D
    Well done mate, nice passion and an awesome proof that you do not loose that much moveability while wearing a well fitting armour.
