  • Food wastes are defined as foods that are qualified for safe consumption but discarded due to spoilage. Lower-income countries have reportedly wasted food during production phase, while middle and high-income countries wasted food during the last phase within household. An increase in earning will contribute to higher amount of food waste due to easier affordability and food access. Food wastage are increased through over-buying, which causes products to easily expire before consumption. Due to high organic content, food waste creates a variety of adverse effects on the environment. Food waste disposal through landfills is estimated to
    increase the emission of greenhouse gasses to 50% in 2020. Food waste sources in Malaysia were derived from residential, commercial, institutional and city areas. In order to solve the abundant daily food waste problem, our team, MJIIT_Greenetics is proposing an innovative low-cost food waste recycling system for the community. The system comprises of Bio-digestion
    centre and mobile app platform. The bio-digester centre is design to collect rescued food waste from production, businesses and normal household towards processing food it into fertilizer and bio-gas. With the total market size of food waste generation in Malaysia, which is up to 15,000 tonnes a day, there is high potential to maximize our proposed operations in order to solve the pain faced by community, farmers and mother Earth. With the right market demand, robust financial projection and support from the right investor, the objective of startup will be achieved.
