    This was SO helpful! I write urban fantasy and it's not a particularly spicy genre (normally). I have a romantic arc, and I'm looking at ways to show a decent, hot scene without fading to black but also without going to "spicy" and jar my reader out of the overall "feel" of the book series.

    Kind of an antiquated term, but I stumbled across the term "quim" in a book once, and I kind of love it.
    Also, as a literary scholar, I remember hearing over and again how in Literature, "everything means sex, but sex means power" so I agree that a lot of sex scenes in Literary works are just...dry (and analytical or overly symbolic.)
