Talented player. Had few discipline issue. If he was guided properly under a good leadership, would have been one of the best in the world not only in Sri Lanka. Very unfortunate for him as well as for the country.Remember Ranathunga had lot of confidence on him and used him as an opening bowler against India in the Nidahas trophy. He lived up to the expectations and delivered.Unfortunately it was the later stages of Arjuna's leadership otherwise Bandarathilake would have survived.

Roshan ,I suggest a office of Ombudsman for Cricket because all these past players have some series issues in their carriers. it will help to avoid future issues like these. it directs players get their places in teams and improve team performances as well,

A wasted talent by SLC... After the New Zealand tour in 1998 Sri Lanka mostly played abroad until the mighty Aussies toured the Island in 1999....Sri Lanka was an unsettled unit during late 1998 until the world cup in England in June 1999.We lost to even Zimbabwe in Sharjah during that period.... Players like Niroshan Bandaratilleke, Suresh Perera made their debuts in mid 1998....Just after the 1999 WC the leadership changed under a new interim cricket administration.Bandaratilleke and Suresh Perera was overlooked by the then selection panel and blooded new players like Camara Silva to the setup....Rangana Herath was drafted into the test team instead of Bandaratilleke for the 1999 Australian home series where Herath too shined remarkebly well in the Galle Test... Since then doors were closed for Bandaratilleke until 2001 West Indies home Series where he was underbowled by Jayasuriya.... during that series Vaas and Murali formed a lethal pair and grabbed almost all the wickets of the opposition.... Since then it was curtains for Bandaratilleke.
