_I have an idea for an good engine I like, the Great Northern Challenger or just the DM&IR Yellowstone, take your time and I can still wait, and it's nice seeing 3254 on the move again, virtually!_
The whistle is fed with steam through a dry pipe, so when water and sediments collect in it, they end being forced through cause the squeak. A unique characteristic to that engine!
stevelerro yeah I know it is really cool I got to ride the 3254 back in 2010 it did that at least 4 times you did a great with the effect also do you ever plan to make the Wanamaker Kempton & Southern #65 in Kempton PA
The whistle valved leaked and the plumbing fittings below the whistle held the condensed steam (water) It was my practice to slowly pull the cord until the water pushed out through the whistle before going all out. That is the squeal you hear before the engineer really gets to hanging on the rope.
And after 7 years they almost got only 12k subscribers... Jeez, I think that most of people just watch the video to the end and then buying the engine.
Its actually the engineer blowing it like that for fun because one time the Superintendent got let in the cab and blew the whistle hard and it made the screech and every time that engineer saw her he would make the screech some engineers tried to do it but it did not work out
Thanks....I chased a fall trip in 04, the ice train in 05 and a spring trip in 05 all to Tobyhanna. All the photos and videos I took really helped with the assembling of scenes and details! Sure hope to do this again if/when 3713 gets finished!
nice video of CN 3254 and there is a nickel plate road class p 4-6-0 ten wheeler at steamtown the engines number is 44 renumbered to 304 for akron canton and youngstown railroad in ohio the engine was sold back to steamtown where the engine is on display for other people to see the engine running in the 1950's number 304 will always be rembered as NYC&STL railroad number 44 the last oldest 4-6-0's built for the railroad this could be another locomotive pack it's one of the engines that you never knew about because this engine is looking cool for another edition engine :)
The AC&Y is cancelled due to the commissioner backing out at the last minute, and the Q2 has been pushed back a bit to allow for the paid commissions to take priority.
You know, I was first exposed to CN 3254 in footage of her that was shown on the History Channel series Trains Unlimited, which was what first brought me to trains, railroads, and locomotives. In fact, the undercarriage shot of her in this video reminded of a similar undercarriage scene of her from said series.
I had the original version in TRS06. Had a lot of fun playing with it. This new version looks superb. Really diggin' the "Dirty Whistle" effect. I must ask though, any chance of making ATSF 3751?
I'll have to grab this, had the older model. Speaking of which did you use any assets from the older one (and updated them of course) or did you start all over from scratch?
I have a request for a model so we have 3254 but to complete the main line roster we need 2317 could you think about making it because it's been a years without another engine on the steam roster
stevelerro how about creating an effect and updating the steam engines like the 765 with different levels of sound for both whistles. You know what I'm talking about when the engineer yanks on the rope and slowly tugs it to give it a softer lower octave sound and then yanks it again. If you can't do something pink then future Trainz games should allow that to give the steam trains a more lively sound to them.
The whistles behave differently in each game. TANE seems to be the worst so far. Depending on how fast you go and what angle you view it, it pops periodically.
Keep in mind I used the old Trainz mac game from 2011, they worked very well in that game. TANE doesn't work as well with them. Alot of these older whistles need to be edited so that the start file is a bit longer for it to transition smoother.
There is 2 FEF-3's and 11 Challengers on Trainz Italia and there is 3 more Big Boys on the DLS, also i think Anl might re-release his FEF-3's and Challengers on JR some point in the future.
Awsome. i have a problem though so i downloaded the polar express but it will not show up in tane and i made sure it had the tane on it can you please help me
Fun fact, I made that 3254 model back in 2004-2005 after I chased the real 3254 to Tobyhanna. The K&L version was aimed at being a 10 year rebuild of it.
Correct. On a DEM route, they have colored lines showing where the track, road and rivers go. Tracks lines are red, roads are dark blue, and rivers are light blue.
I know This Is a Bit Late, But This Brings Back So Many of My Childhood Memories, I Can't Thank K&L Enough for Bringing 3254 Back to Life.
Dat whistle though...
it sucks its old one was better
That CN loco was amazing but I like the whistle tone
_I have an idea for an good engine I like, the Great Northern Challenger or just the DM&IR Yellowstone, take your time and I can still wait, and it's nice seeing 3254 on the move again, virtually!_
You do such nice route modules. If you released them, I would definitely buy them. I'd love to have these scenes.
A steamtown route would definitely be awesome
You guys make some of the best steamers for trainz! Please consider making some narrow gauge stuff in 2ft and/or 3ft gauge.
hell ya
Was the whistle not properly warmed up when it was blown at the beginning of the video? If so, that is a really cool effect
It is actually the alternate whistle it is really cool

Okay thanks Bruce. Do you work at Steamtown
I am glad you guys got 1,000 subscribers
ONLY 1,000 THEY ARE SO UNDERRATED, JEEBERS
And after 7 years they almost got only 12k subscribers... Jeez, I think that most of people just watch the video to the end and then buying the engine.
First, great job on this new loco, nice to see a upgraded version of your S1b you made ages ago. ☺
i dont think there the same model
0:00 bottom left 2nd from the left I spy mr. Melvin
0:17 nice whistle effect it sounds like they forgot to clean the whistle out or as in engineer talk “blowing the nose”
Its actually the engineer blowing it like that for fun because one time the Superintendent got let in the cab and blew the whistle hard and it made the screech and every time that engineer saw her he would make the screech some engineers tried to do it but it did not work out
I used to be a trainmen for Steamtown National Historic it's crazy how accurate this is

K&L Trainz oh yeah the B&M lima pacific that they've been working on for YEARS!
When you get time, you should make the pacific in Steamtown, 2317. That would basically complete this for me since i grew up with both engines.
Steamtown for life!
Same here. Steamtown forever!
I’m actually working on a CP G3c (2317) model for Trainz. I hope to get it done soon

My favorite steam locomotive from CN
That's one favorite locomotives on my list to.
#3254 pulled our train when we went and visited steam town.
That's awesome.
I have an idea for a new steam locomotive you should do an Erie s-1 Berkshire or the Lackawanna 4-8-4 Pocono
3:19 is the best scene :)
looks perfect
Somebody really needs to release a Steamtown/DL route, I'd kill for it! This one's a little outdated, but it still looks really good!
Why was the whistle on the old one different from this one
Jackboy317 it's the same whistle. Just used a better recording this time
K&L Trainz .-. Was it really? Because now it sounds like something I'd hear off a J1e hudson
If you've ever seen 3254 in person, you'd know that my whistle is as authentic as it gets
K&L Trainz wow I'm such an idiot, I've now heard 3254's whistle and now it sounds like the original
Then a year after k&l released this model. 3254 turned 100 years old.
could you do a sp 4449 version
I'd bet she'll be back anytime now since she's been in Steamtown for four years now counting 2016.
Alex Paumen she may which is a high chance this may not run ever again
Official now, 3713 is permanently replacing 3254.
ok
will 3254 ever run again or is it permanently never ever ever running again
MPT 482 the frame is shot. It'd be an insane amount of money to fix it and that's no where near ANY railroads' budget.
Mr. Lerro, are the models of the Pennsy Q2 and AC&Y Mikado you guys plan to make pushed back?
The AC&Y is cancelled due to the commissioner backing out at the last minute, and the Q2 has been pushed back a bit to allow for the paid commissions to take priority.
You know, I was first exposed to CN 3254 in footage of her that was shown on the History Channel series Trains Unlimited, which was what first brought me to trains, railroads, and locomotives. Really hoping for you to make Southern 610,630,and 722
630 is on his to do list later this year.
I had the original version in TRS06. Had a lot of fun playing with it. This new version looks superb. Really diggin' the "Dirty Whistle" effect. I must ask though, any chance of making ATSF 3751?
i have its 5 chime
Did you know that there are 2 Trainz Versions of CN 3254?
And Also I Love 3254 with the Popular Out of Tune 5 Chime
Yup. And I made both of them. One in 2005 and the other in 2016
But if only this one was a megapack with a Lackawanna engine (it masqueraded as Lackawanna 1271) and a Gettysburg engine.@@KLTrainz
Very nice video! By the way, when is the 4501 coming out?
I haven't started it yet. Working one more week on the PRR 7002 set, then I can begin 4501.
o.k. thank you!

Nice! Do you have one for CP 2317?
hey steve what happened to the q2
where did you get those buildings
I will forever see this engine as Craig From San Juan Branch Line.
What do you use for the guy with the tripod?
CentralOhioTrains it was in Trainz a new era
AWESOME TOP THREE AT LEAST
Ah yes my favorite Canadian steam locomotive
AMAZING WORK
What is the name of the track you used when the S1b pulled out of Steamtown?
Rail Fan TSM Russian track. It's 5ft gauge so it's actually wider than standard American track
ok thanks
Will you make more steam engines like this with that alternate whistle effect or is this the only engine.
Justin Pinel I don't really know of any other engine that had a whistle with the tendency to squeak like that.
stevelerro how about creating an effect and updating the steam engines like the 765 with different levels of sound for both whistles. Norfolk and Western’s and the Southern’s Hooter whistles on their Mallets had that tendency to squeak, but more so on the Southern whistles.
PLZ steve Where did you get those buildings Like the parking structure and the station
What camera effects do you use to record these?
how do u make alternate whistles? Is it like an attachment for the main whistle or a separate thing?
chazi898 in settings there’s a key bond that lets you use the alternate whistle sound
Was that you in the beginning talking?
yup
Figures
How does the whistles in the promo videos, not make a bit of a gap between start and loop part of a 3 part echo whistle in Trainz?!
The whistles behave differently in each game. TANE seems to be the worst so far. Depending on how fast you go and what angle you view it, it pops periodically.
K&L Trainz
Are you sure?
Because I'm still curious of how it's perfect on promos; but not my game!
Keep in mind I used the old Trainz mac game from 2011, they worked very well in that game. TANE doesn't work as well with them. Alot of these older whistles need to be edited so that the start file is a bit longer for it to transition smoother.
Ah, OK!
You know, I think Canadian National 3254 makes the best Mikado version of the Polar Express!
What do you think?
I'm going to buy the S1b,but where can I find this spot-on map of the pocono route?
Hey Steve can you make a new engines of Union Pacific FEF-1-3, Challengers & Big Boys
There is 2 FEF-3's and 11 Challengers on Trainz Italia and there is 3 more Big Boys on the DLS, also i think Anl might re-release his FEF-3's and Challengers on JR some point in the future.
We need variety in trainz, I am right?
Hey Steve I am disappointed because the video isn't as long as the cab number LOL 😂 great job
MPT 482 Good God man! A 32 minute video! I'd be out of HD space after that one. Do you want 45:01 length video too??? Lol!
Yeah hahaha lol 😂
Thanks for making this I just can't stop running it
Ikr that was kinda funny 😂
Awsome. i have a problem though so i downloaded the polar express but it will not show up in tane and i made sure it had the tane on it can you please help me
Theres a support page on the website for issues like this.
Ok thanks!
Nice video that's the new polar express 2
Hey K&L I am having trouble finding the command for second whistle/blowdown in T:ANE SP4. The command doesn't appear in settings. Can you help?
Thank you
is that a private route or is it public
Hey K&L Trainz Where Did You Get The Steamtown Route For Trainz Simulator.
I made each scene for the video. There is no released route.
how you can do that
I made each of the scenes for the promo, there is no complete route
ok
I got 765 and it won't open the zip
What is the issue with the zip?
What is the issue with the zip?
Pálma Prokob it’s not their fault they maybe thought that the other guy didn’t get the notification due to an error
Trainsim Official Dont be bossy
will the 3254 ever run again it's probably my favorite Canadian steam engine
It may, I believe they are putting their efforts into restoring the B&M 3713
that's good news hope the effort for the 3713 goes right
That's great the B&M 3713 is being restored but maybe someday they'll probably put 3254 back to service. If they get more money.
In the meantime B&M 3713 is going to be 3254's replacement.
nice train video
Hey steve have you ever considered Strasburg railroad 90 as a worthy project?
One day!
I watched videos about this locomotive
Were did you get your rolling stock
Did anyone notice that when going to the tunnel the hopper said “canadien” national
That’s the French word for Canadian. French is the second language of Canada after all ^^
@@BNSFGuy4723 dang I never knew
I know that sounds sarcastic but its not
Is That A Character From San Juan Trainz?
Yep, that’s Craig
Where did you get this route
He made each scene and the route isn't for release.
WHERE IS THIS ROUTE??????
You need to read to previous comments asking the same thing and they were all answered "There is no route!"
What?
He makes scenes for each individual part of the video. It's not a full route.
Eastern Coast Productions there is no route, scenes made by Steve lerro to show off the equipment
Where can I get this route?
He made each scene and the route isn't for release.

i like the USLW one
You know I made that one also? Back in 2005

I'm Downloading the fresco 1630
SnakyFace Gaming I do have the frisco 15-22 and I'm also going to get same engine as well

@@Thomasboi01 Old cringy comment man, I know that. lol
What do you mean old cringy comment man? Lol
Where did you get that route?
I made all the scenes myself, but there is the Del Lack DEM route on the DLS
K&L Trainz once you register for that all the downloads on the DLS are free right?
The Del Lack route that is available for free has no scenery or track on it. You have to lay those yourself, but the terrain is all laid out.
So the terrain shows where the track is supposed to go?
Correct. On a DEM route, they have colored lines showing where the track, road and rivers go. Tracks lines are red, roads are dark blue, and rivers are light blue.
