This was by far the best unboxing video I have seen of this product to date. To Wand, this has been well worth the wait. I’m ready to pounce on the pre-order. Well done! I would also like to suggest a companion product, the medical handheld scanner! Maybe conduct a survey after this products launch to gauge interest and project if scanner is financially beneficial to Wand.
Sounds good
I thought he mentioned something about the potential for McCoy's hand held medical scanner in Adam Savage's Tested video.
@@flashgordon6238 he said people van use one they make or other companies.
@@flashgordon6238 He did, indicated it could be stored in the bottom storage compartment. Sure they're already working on it.
@@jshaner26ify thank you for your reply🥹🌹
I'm personally grateful that you've waited to get the product right instead of rushing it. Your other two Star Trek products are outstanding, and this has been worth the wait.🖖
Awesome!
I wish they would re-release the phaser i missed out but i love the communicator, i carry it from time to time just to annoy my family.
@@pattimcb31 I love the phaser and the communicator.
I've lived long enough to see a lovingly created, functional, in-universe where it matters, original series Tricorder. Masterpiece. Visuals, sounds, everything simply incredible. I am losing my mind - Kudo's Well Done and I can't wait to get my own to match my Phaser and Communicator counterparts. THANK YOU for the time, effort, and love invested into this "project" - you've made the dreams of many a Trekkie come as true as possible!! Waiting for this Tricorder to complete was the only "logical" decision. Glad you made it!
Are you getting one?
@@YourGeekFix Are you KIDDING?! A HIGHLY Illogical question…I am ABSOLUTELY getting one!
@@joshellis5014 LOL
I'm not enough of a Star Trek fan to buy one of these, but by god, the workmanship, skill, thought, attention to detail and tech that has gone into this is really admirable. I could definitely see a ST fan proudly buying one of these. Chris should be working for companies like Tesla or Apple. Can't emphasis how impressed I am with this and his work.
I agree
As I approach the end of my natural life span, those things that fueled my imagination are coming to corporeal reality. AI has brought me a computer I can speak to in natural language. Now, a mechanism that represented what would evolve into the modern portable computer is manifest. Only someone who waited the full sixty-plus years to see this can fully appreciate the catharsis it brings. My sincere compliments to The Wand Company, where fantasies are made real.
Thanks for the comment
I second this. Absolutely amazing
Yes, all us of the sixties generation who looked forward to the technological age where this stuff would be a reality, and much of it really is, although they're still having a bit of trouble with the transporter, actually a fair bit of ST tech is now real, like mobile phones, directed energy weapons, computers, contactless medical diagnosis, the scriptwriters i believe consulted widely among the scientific community for ideas on what was feasible in the future, they were mostly right.
@monteceitomoocher too true!
I'm retiring soon. I've come to realize how important science fiction is to mankind. Where would we be now without the dreamers?

The fact that it actually reads radiation is off the chart! I would suggest it come shipped with a film cover on the screen for those who want to display it to keep dust & elements from scratching it. I appreciate the laid back & informative presentation.
Good point
And I noticed that you’re the only one that showed it going by electrical outlet and showing that feature so hats 🎩 off to you

I registered my interest ages ago. I can't wait to order my. The Tricorder is remarkable! "Whata machine".
I love it. The thought process and how you have made it function so bloody well.
One thing to really complete the tricorder is "Dr McCoy's Medical Scanner," with sound function. It would finish the piece perfectly.
I've seen prop makers make them and post them up on TH-cam.
Again, I can't wait for the preorder email.
Glad to hear it!

Very cool!
Been anxiously waiting for this review, and can't wait to order my own Tricorder as soon as it becomes available. Bought the Master Replicas version years ago but was disappointed by its lack of electronic features. It wound up getting stolen (along with my MR Phaser and Communicator props) and this will be the perfect item to replace it. Well done!

Thankfully, this video showed up in my Recommended List as I had totally forgotten about this product.

I just registered to get updates on this! $350 may be a stretch for me, I'm not sure, but it is not crazy expensive. The cool factor alone is over the top and then you have real world functionality on top of that! I have to have one!
I also signed up to get notified about the Star Trek Communicator when it is back in production. We would not have cell phones today had it not been for Star Trek.

I can't wait to get my hands on this! The only thing I wish it did would be to playback video (MP4, WMA, etc) through a flash drive or card, or through streaming. But hey, that's what my phone/tablet is for. I love this company, and I have the phaser and communicator and they've provided great customer service when I've had issues with my communicator. three suggestions to add .. 1 wireless charging 2 pair with cellphone 3. turn the discs into flash memory that connects via magnet on right side so with an adapter one could transfer info like music video etc

The captains log is GOLD!
Ok
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
@@ratkaelzey ok
This looks spectacular and a great way to use modern tech to make very old future tech. BTW, when he said he couldn't remember what episode Edith Keeler was in I couldn't help but picture nerds in the UK yelling "It was Guardian at the Edge of Forever, ya useless ponce!"
Funny thing is... That's the final title, not the original one tied to the media they got from the achieve. This is why the label reads different as well. How's that for never before known Star Trek info. Also, did you know the script changed as well.
Yes, I know about the previous script. Different enough that maybe it was considered for a totally different episode! But there was drug use and drug dealing officer characters on board the Enterprise and that just wasn’t going to fly so the re-write was a foregone conclusion. The original is worth a read though!
@@ScottBarrettihq yup
If Wand reads this for any reason, please add Vulcan, the Klingon and Romulan's home words to the planetary section. Maybe even a bunch of planets from the show. Would be a nice edition besides just or solar system.
We'll see.

2/2 on videos, Pip-boy, and now this. I've been waiting for a video on this.
Sweet!
The episode is "City On The Edge Of Forever" written by Harlan Ellison
So, the episodes are the way they were in the archieve before music was added.
It appears that Wand Co. obtained the voiceover dialogue tracks before the diegetic music was added.
@@RodJay yes. Which chris said was not easy. They don't have a sound archieve. Paramount had to go into each episode media and pull it for them. This was a huge undergoing.
@@YourGeekFix I know that personally because I used to do film to video dubs in the TV studio I used to work at!

You have a certificate.
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I am very confused. Are you I talking about a purse?÷
i’m definitely gonna get one of these when they become available, already signed up :3

so funny the artists thought we'd be using CRT's and Speaker Grills in the far future. But they did embody the concept of the portable computer.

How about a cell phone that is a communicator replica?
You should make that
I gotta start saving my latinum again
I don't suppose it comes with a small plug to hide the USB port for when you're out on the field? When not being displayed, it'd be nice to complete the seamless look.
I think that would be a good idea
One constructive criticism. Shame it wasn’t an independent smart phone or interface device with Wi-Fi and phone signal capability. That way the Bluetooth communicator could of pared with it and been functional without having to carry a mobile phone as well . 👍

I don't even watch star Trek and I want this XD

The record feature will be good as you will be able to record what you like on it, such as the theme tune or even your favourite audio from the series, and if you put it on the stand on a shelf, you can put the audio spectrum setting on and then when you listen to music it will react to the sounds. That will look really cool and should impress any visitors.

The Wand Company does great work, I have their amazing phaser and communicator. But I think the charge port location is in a really bad spot . . . ! They should either have hidden it inside the bottom compartment, have it inductively charged via the stand just like the communicator, or have a cover to go over the external port to prevent lint from getting in there (especially so since if it's used as a cosplay, it'll rest against the hip, rubbing against clothing thereon . . .).
There is a small rubber insert for the port.
@@YourGeekFix okay, that's cool... but inside the bottom compartment would have been the optimal solution for it if they couldn't go the inductive charging route because of the sensors built into the bottom of the unit.
