In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we are truly humbled in the experience of finding and recovering Timothy Robinson from the Willamette River in Milwaukie, Oregon.
The Mazda 6 car found in the river was supposed to be just another environmental car recovery for us.
Want to see the video we were Live Streaming the moment we discovered Timothy inside?
    • Live Car Removal from ...
We'd seen the car underwater on previous dives about 75' deep.
The windows were up and the car was upside down.
It took a staged lift for the safety of our dive team to bring the car to the surface using salvage lift bags capable of lifting 1500 pounds each.
    #scubadiving #foundcar #missingperson
So how did Timothy and his car end up in the river?
Unfortunately, a note was left behind in 2008 stating that he would be driving his car into the river at a boat ramp.
Hug the ones you love and reach out to those in need.
We are humbled and thankful for this opportunity and experience to bring closure for his family.
The last thing we wanted to do was find a car in the river with a body inside.

Come on.... Seriously? Y'all that naive? It's a car in a body of water. Cars obviously don't belong there, yet somehow they got there. Therefore, there's only so many ways a car can end up on a bottom of a body of water and that involves someone driving it in. So there's a good probability that remains will be found inside the car.

Christian, AWP was just a rivers and waterways clean up crews to get debris and trash out of the water, as they did so they stumbled upon vehicles under water, most of these were old or stolen with no plates, but still let authorities know where to remove them. They got the equipment to help authorities rig up and float these vehicles out of the water. As fate would intervene one of these vehicles(as you see here) had the remains of a missing man of 12 years. It was after this that their objective changed to finding missing persons along with the vehicles. So he changed their mission in a day.

How could they be left down there long enough for a person to be missing for 12 years? Why are vehicles not recoverd upon discovery? And how many more 'underwater junkyards' contain missing persons?

@DA BOUL BLACKLUNGZ Not as much as did years ago in the 1970's 1980's and even 1990's in the 200's lots of technology became cheaper cameras for one. How many Go Pros are out there with underwater housings. That alone used to cost you more than the camera in scuba diving. Which each housing was limited to certain model of camera since controls varied.
Then comes scuba gear, which lift bags and rigging gear is added cost but the tanks air is not that expensive. That leaves a Tow Truck or small crane that can act as winch to help lift and pull the vehicle out, which as you see in this video is donated by the company to help out and give back to the community. You would be hard pressed to find a Tow Truck Operator who wouldn't donate his time to help recover someone's body for a family.....

    • @ablemagawitch
      @ablemagawitch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@DA BOUL BLACKLUNGZ I know what you mean but you make money off your youtube, your peatron and everyone social media account that they have monetized. There also Grasp get this people that have the equipment and actual try to do good and even solve crimes the police have cold cased. Often the reward money never materializes or has such terms that you get disqualified. That is the small legal details in the reward terms they don't mention. It has never been just "call with information and get a cash". They make damn sure that there is no way for anyone who withheld evidence and/or their involvement to get it legally from civil court case. Then you have the actual laws about those who commit crimes are prohibited from profiting from them by selling their stories from behind bars.....
I know how easy and hard it is. The rigging they do has me wanting reach through the internet and backhand them for stupidity and risking their lives for "buying equipment , without learning the craft" Anyone can buy snatch blocks large shackles , wire rope , rigging chain, actual rate hardware for the loads with safety factor of minimum of 5:1 at the peak shock loading maximum that is below yield strength not catastrophic breaking strength.
People have been cleaning up other land and water ways long before you tube on their dime even paying the dump fees that person throw the items out in field or waterway to avoid paying those disposal fees.
People also spend their own money on it as a hobby. I've been stopped by park rangers with numerous alcoholic beverage bottles in my hands when all alcohol was banned from the park. The Park ranger thanked me and let me put them in the back of her truck, because they were wondering if they were going to catch who was making all the stacks for easy pick on the closed trail they could drive on. That doesn't even get into the group that replaced all the 1960's early non rate bolts that were drilled into side of mountains with modern devices that were drilled will more than a hand held drill bit being smacked by hammer which lead to pretty shallow bolt holes that held good enough for years. Which none of that was cheap but they worked their way through the various state and national parks even getting permits to use power drills (battery of course) that were forbidden, which had long been challenge to anyone wanting to update/replace questionable at best pieces of metal people clipped into.....
So its nice to get paid but if your only doing it for the possible reward, you will lose out. Leave to those people who do good deeds because it is the right thing to do and that is the reward they expect and are happy with. Anything else is bonus....
So you know what I mean. .....

Imo, many are mere accidents. What breaks my heart, law enforcement agencies, city, county, or state, rarely check the water. In many of these videos Sheriffs get miffed at these guys merely because they do the job they failed to do. So many families could have closure years ago. I keep reading local agencies dont have the equipment. These searchers tell us exactly what they have. Look up the cost on line. Many advid fishermen have the exact same equipment on their boats looking for fish. These agencies just dont want to take the time. I just hope when these videos go viral, that voters in those particular counties remember these sheriffs come election day! Look how many people have been found less than 25+ feet or less from the bank. Life cannot be saved but closure would be there for these long suffering family members. God bless all that look for these families.

@Ferris Bueller Suicide means ending your own life. It is sometimes a way for people to escape pain or suffering. When someone ends their own life, we say that they "died by suicide." A "suicide attempt" means that someone tried to end their life, but did not die. www.heretohelp.bc.ca/infosheet/what-is-suicide

This was really tough to watch, my father along with two friends disappeared over 5 months ago in an airplane incident. Experts think they might be underwater, but my country doesnt have the technology to perform the search thoroughly and professionally and now everything is more difficult due to the virus. I can imagine Mr. Robinson’s family is extremely grateful for your work, may god have him in his glory.

When i was in the 5th grade, my grandfather went missing. We searched everywhere for him. Months later, a farmer was mowing the sides of a large ditch and saw the roof of his car sticking out of the water under a bridge. It brought us the closure we needed we were able to finally have a memorial and say goodbye. Im so thankful to the man who found him and helped us bring him home. Unfortunately this wasn’t the first time someone ended up in their car in that water. The ditch runs parallel to a road that has a T intersection into it. Another woman was rescued before my papa died and I know that other people have crashed into the water. The county refuses to put rumple strips or a guard rail at the end of the T to prevent something like this from happening again. It’s sad that something so simple could have prevented it from happening. I know a lot of people were upset about the county’s failure.

Local governments change roads / intersections (stop signs, traffic signals, guardrails, roundabouts) AFTER someone dies. Petition the city for change. If possible, then in a small way, your grandfather wouldn't have died in vain.
