05/03/17 SMRT Choa Chu Kang Station: Fire Alarm being activated [FALSE ALARM]

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
5 March. Choa Chu Kang Station Fire Alarm was activated around 5.30pm in the evening.
The cause of the Fire Alarm being activated was unknown, but the station shutter to the MRT concourse was down. I've noticed that the escalator towards the BPLRT Platform has been taken out of service. Could it be the cause of the Fire Alarm being activated?
Nevertheless, the North South Line platform played the PA announcement informing all customers about the Fire Alarm activation in-station. All train services were not impacted by this incident. The Fire Alarm went off after this video has ended.
Update 6 March
A 3rd party whom I spoke to, told me that the Fire Alarm activation was a FALSE alarm. 2 suspects (secondary school students) has been arrested by the Police on the spot which is related to this incident. SCDF and SPF/Police Vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
Triggering False Fire Alarm in any public places is a SERIOUS offence and it can bring you behind bars if you do so. So, do not try to do that UNLESS EMERGENCY Situation that requires attention (i.e. Fire).

The case happened because someone made a false alarm. The suspects behind this incident has been arrested by the police. Suspects are 2 secondary school boys. More to come

Once I was on escalator in claymore connect the travellator stopped causing me to fall and land on my foot and I thought someone pushed emergency stop button

From transportation in singapore's statement I would guess one of the secondary school boys pulled it. From what I can see it looks like the alarm system has call points with the break glass which sets off the fire alarm upon breaking the glass and/or the button inside being pushed.

Once I was in vivo city when fire alarm went off from lift it was loud then it was false alarm I was shaking A lot as I was out with my nanny Lucy so loud

If the shutters are down, likely it will bring you to Exit A or D. You can also get to Exit C via Exit A (left via Cheers) and Exit D (right via POSB ATM). For Exit B, you can go via the LRT concourse to exit also
