    The biggest Con for Georgetown is that the only internet/cable company is SuddenLink AKA SuddenDeath. That is the worst internet provider and most people within the city limits of Georgetown are stuck with this company. If you’re a WFH employee, then pay attention to the neighborhood you’re choosing. There are only a few neighborhoods with Spectrum or possibly other options.

    Great video, we were deciding between RR and GT and chose the closer to Austin location. Georgetown has so much more heart and soul and feels like a small college town, more touristy, will definitely visit.

      It definitely does. The charm of Georgetown is very present especially when you visit The Square.

    Hey Angie - great post! I live in austin but my folks live in Georgetown. You described it perfectly; it has a small town feel but all of the amenities you need. Given that Samsung is investing $17B in their facility in Taylor, Texas (12 miles away) it makes Georgetown even more attractive than what you described 9 months ago.

    Might be going from contract to perm with apple and having to move here. WOuld love georgetown but wow, the prices have doubled. I guess they have everywhere really but it generally seems like a bad time to buy

      Hey Colin, things have definitely gone up in price in the surrounding areas. You can still find some gems here and there and there is a lot more new construction happening in the area. I've been telling my clients that prices are going to continue rising because of our growth. If you are able to find something sooner than later it's probably better.

    Great vid! How would you compare GT to Leander?

    • @LiveInATX
      @LiveInATX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both cities have a lot to offer. Georgetown has a lot more historical roots & charm than Leander. Leander does have some really cool commercial developments that they are adding (to include a Lagoon, new downtown, etc.) This will add to the city’s identity as a destination location. As far as new home development Leander has Georgetown beat but it’s not too far behind for new homes.

    Property taxes are 1.8% to 3.5%. That should've been the biggest mention in the con column. A 350,000 home at 2% would be 7,000 per year. 583 per month. And that's forever. Even without state taxes that's going to cost more. Why so high? Anybody?

    We just built a beautiful home in GTown this past summer, but wanting to be in another part of town. Do we sell? Or hang onto to the house and rent it? It’s got a killer greenbelt view in our backyard!

    • @LiveInATX
      @LiveInATX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Liz! Congratulations on your new home! There are different ways of looking at your move and it really depends on what your goals are. It's definitely a sellers market and can be really beneficial for some to put their house on the market. My go to is to first see if my clients are able to hold on to the property first and then look into other options that may work for them. Since every situation is different I'd love to chat more. If you have questions give me a call or shoot me a text (512) 270-0966.

      lol for the record, I am in Germany and the autobahn is pretty friggin fast.. but I do appreciate at least driving 85 (but that would be dirt slow in Germany) LOL

    • @LiveInATX
      @LiveInATX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Sammie! My Mother is actually a retired veteran who decided to retire in Killeen (Fort Hood). She loves it. It's a small town but the price points are still affordable. For Georgetown it really depends on the community when it come to taxes. It will take you about 25 minutes (15 mi) to get to the nearest Costco although there is plans to build one in Georgetown. Fort Hood is about 40+ miles away from Georgetown. Belton is pretty small (22K people) but it's closer to Fort Hood (22mi). Housing in Killeen and Belton are much more affordable than in Georgetown but the location of Georgetown of course is better if you want to be close enough to the city but far enough away.
