This is my first vlog about my work as a director of photography and my thoughts on the business of a videoproduction freelancer.
Great Job.
Awesome!!! I started with a Ford Ranger with a camper top on it. Makes a shoot easy when you get audio and G&E help.
Thank you for the shoutout, it means a lot knowing my vlogs are watched by people around the world.
Keep the videos coming, this was great! You got a new sub!
You're videos were a good inspiration to start this journey.
I appreciate the shoutout! This was so cool to see each setup and location. As far as the vlog goes, you are a natural. I’m happy I could connect Dan with you and help everybody get some work.
Looking forward to learning more on your next videos!
Thanks David. Hopefully I can add value to the viewer as well as bringing awareness to my business
Thank you for this video Dan. I enjoyed the setups/insights.
Hey Dan, I have been shooting with the Canon XF 605 for around a year and the camera has certainly helped me to produce more consistent and better shots when I am juggling lighting, sound and camera - I enjoyed your Vlog and have been considering creating some more content on my channel too but it is hard to keep up with my work, never mind playing on TH-cam - ha - it is fun tho. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for showing us the ropes man. I’m new to film making and it’s extremely intimidating. I’m trying to do a short documentary about Irish immigrants in the 1980s and I took some digital media classes at the local college. I have all the gear but finding my people is the hard part. I got a bit lucky this week with I hope is going to be my post production person. I watched your video because I have a 605 and I also have an R3. Really like that Chinese lantern. I think I’m going to get one. Thanks again for the cool video. You validated my choice for getting the 605. It’s a cool camera. Sometimes I feel like I’m supposed to have an fx6.
Love my XF-605. What a work horse. I'm in Tampa, and travel for most of my work. I'd love to help if you ever have a need for it.
Nice first post, subscribed!
Thanks David. You helped me make the leap.
Yeah, too many things to keep track of.
Thanks for the video. I have two R5c cameras and the DJI 4d 8K. I have several productions where the 605 would be beneficial. Have you found your R5c and 605 footage play well together in post? Thank you.
Started with Sony VX2100, then DVX-100B. I was all Canon for 10 years with the XF100 and 70D and C100, with the occasional Epic rental.
Then when it was time to buy in to 4K, I went with the Sony FX6 and FX3. Canon cripple hammer caused that. I still want a proper camcorder though, for when I need an all in one hammer, and that might end up being the XF605. Don’t need to buy it just yet, so maybe Sony will update the Z190/280 some day soon, though the lack of infrared on those is a problem for me. Ideally Canon would put the 4K 10 bit in the XF205 body. I’d buy two!
My only major problem with the 605 is that it doesn’t have the rotating side grip. I really don’t know why they didn’t include that. Instant buy if it had that.
lovely seeing your setups!
well done!
