Man, i miss Jr behind the wheel. But im so grateful he got to retire healthy and happy. We couldnt have handled another Dale Earnhardt tragedy. Almost had one in the plane crash. Cheers to Jr Nation, and make today great.

Seems to me Jr. is the kind of boss/supervisor/owner/leader whose employees will willingly walk through walls for. A very rare thing these days. Loyalty and trust is a two way street.

Becoming a dad (especially of little girls) opens up a whole other emotional box in our brains. We can cry about anything.
Uh..yeah. I'm teaching my daughter to drive. I've never felt so many different feelings at one time. I'm happy for her, afraid that she's going to have a bad accident, a nervous reck every time I get in the passenger seat, and the list goes on. She's becoming an adult, boys are chasing her, I'm having to remind those boys that I have guns and not afraid to shoot. I can go on for days on my feelings as a dad. She's the best kid I could ask for though. I'm very proud of her.

I remember my first year away from home, I had a job in Washington DC, however one day I had a tooth ache BAD. I cried my eyes out BAD! I remember, afterwards, I wasn't crying for the ache of the tooth, it was I was homesick..... And I think watching Josh, and seeing his success, and really wanting the best for him, AND his win, made Dale cry, BUT underneath the unexpected tears, was the fact, that Dale trully misses the one thing in life he loved the very very most. He cried, but lying underneatch were the empty tears he has held for so long, Only my opionion, but This is such a serious issue for Dale to publicly address. God Bless you Dale, and somehow your heart will heal the the emptiness it has had for so long. ITS OK, to admitt this. We understand...
I was never a Dale Sr fan but this video is a great example of why I am such a fan of Jr. The unvarnished honesty and realness...how could anybody not like this guy!

Been a fan of jr when he started running nascar and been a fan ever since. But I think i may be a even bigger fan of him now. He’s just a good dude and is awesome with everyone. Dale sr. Is looking down and smiling at his and is as proud as can be!
I’m not a huge fan of NASCAR but like you said …. I’m a huge fan of JR, he’s just a really stand up person.
Watching Dale talk to Josh on the the show you can physically see how proud he is of him on his first win, it’s pure gold for both of them.

I so love this maturing and gratitude of Dale Jr. I think this is how he'd feel if his own son were coming up and winning. I always look forward to every show. They never disappoint.

Dale I think the emotions that come out now are the same emotions that we suppress when we are younger as we mature we no longer feel weak by showing them and they pour out . Love the show.

I think Dale's opportunity post racing career is one that could bring him more satisfaction than driving and winning races, even though he misses that terribly: he has many, many years ahead of him to continue being an advocate for NASCAR and racing, a voice that can bring changes to how the sport races in a more exciting and safety-conscious way, and a conduit between the fans and the drivers/teams/owners that creates a more compelling partnership between everyone who enjoys NASCAR racing. He has an opportunity to do what Richard Petty has done for the past 25 years after his racing career: become a face and a name that represents all that is good in the sport, and one that fans can believe has his heart and soul connected to the past, present and future of NASCAR.
It's so hard to root against Josh Berry, given literally how talented he is and just needed a chance so I can get the emotion Jr. had for him since they're good friends their relationship is strong it's just all around a good story for the smaller guy.
The thing is theirs numerous talented guys who don’t get a chance because of the money. Racing is less about racing now and more about money. Over half the field is either related to owner or related to past drivers who have connections or just flat out rich people who buy rides.

I wish more guys could get a push without the whole sponsorship thing, I mean it's great for guys that do and they love their sponsorship but this funding problem sucks for all motorsports in general /:
The sad thing is there are probably dozens of Josh Berry's out there, that are better than half the people running in Cup now, that never get that chance, get that opportunity. Even with someone like Dale Jr in your corner, it's a hard and ruthless and unfair business.
The sadder thing is that's life. There are people out there who will never see the full fruits their talent could bring therm.

@@tonybuckeye2 Despite countless obstacles, Wendell Scott, did well in NASCAR and was inducted into the NASCAR HOF in 2015.
James Scully, I know that's true, for sure. A local race car driver, Chad Binette, was successful at every auto racing series in the northeast that he ever drove in. Had he been able to obtain better financial support, he could've easily moved up the ranks and into the NASCAR big leagues. He did later become successful in the auto repair, and sales, business ventures.

I believe his fear in failing stems from the tremendous need he felt to please his father. Sr. set the bar, and Jr. was always trying to attain that standard.
And Jr is unique with his own magic. He never neeed to attain it tbh, but I know the feeling.
Dale you have done a great service to Josh. I'm sure after he's done with the driving side that he will be a very successful crew chief somewhere. Done it from the ground up. Here's to more success with Josh and JRM.

This is 21 minutes of pure gold. The psyche of balancing between emotions and economics; the difficulty of acceptance of staying healthy and not have severe injuries anymore by not racing. It's all in this segement. Sometimes it's a good thing that somebody from the outside refelecty on the inmense value your organization (including KELLY!) and this podcast has. You are ambassador for NASCAR, and the culture, for the legacy of your dad, for your own organization and the three fantastic ladies at home. The reason why people all over the world watch and listen to you all is, besides that fantastic accent (your lady receives verbal foreplay the entire day), the honesty and raw emotions that comes with life and the sincere reflections. I wish for Josh to have a longer ride, but that all depends on so many variables. Don't beat yourself up. Thanks again for such a great segment.
Jnr is the son of a legend, he is a legend himself, he has a few dollars in the bank ,but one thing he has which money cant buy is inner beauty, he is a special kind of human being!! I am an English guy living in Europe, and have dreamed my whole life of visiting the States and watching Nascar, I have seen everyone in F1 for the past 35 years and Le Mans 24hrs etc etc but it makes me sad that I have Never, and never will see an Earnhardt race in Nascar!

Riley Herbst has Monster Energy backing his whole career while Josh Berry doesn't have enough sponsors to run an entire season.
Riley also has a hugely successful Las Vegas businessman father backing him too.

If Josh Berry never gets to run another Xfinity race again, he still gets to earn a living racing late models fulltime for Dale Jr. At the end of the day, he’s still living the dream. It’s all about perspective.
@@ryanhunsinger Yeah, and my perspective as a NASCAR fan is that I want to see the cream rise to the top. That's becoming rare these days. Low talent teenagers with daddy's money shouldn't get major opportunities over the best late model race car drivers in the nation.
That's one of the differences between where Jr is vs where Gibbs is.

Jr is the most heartfelt, honest voice in NASCAR, for EVERYTHING it means from the past to the future. So glad he has the means to get this out there.
I have to tell you, I really appreciate you bringing the appreciation aspect to handling the loss of someone who is significant in you life. Every so often I sit and think about how never got to spend enough time with over the years. I would have loved to be able spend “ALL” of my time with my dad. Didn’t matter what or where. Many tears at many times… so, again, Thanks for a better appreciation, and an alternative attitude!
Every race team has a back story. The fans have no idea what it takes to put a car on the track. The amount of work and time and money it takes to put a car on the track week after week would surprise the fans. This true from NASCAR to the street stocks at your local dirt track. So people give them all the credit they are due, they deserve it.

I was very fortunate to work in Nascar for 4 years. I miss my racing family the most. 1997-2001.
Every weekend... in that garage area is your family.
One of my favorite memories is having a conversation with Dale Sr. Watkins Glen Test 2000.
After practice was over.... everyone pretty much has to use the restroom. Well if you know anything about the Glen... it is so out of date.
Dale and i were in this long line holding it.
Well we started a conversation and we almost pissed ourselves because we were laughing. Those couple of minutes were the best.

The sport needs more people like you.. and the interesting fact is the lack of sponsorship, for Josh Berry, is the SAME exact reason, the OG No. 88 team was shifted from part time cup carousel, to completely shut down. But nevertheless, I’m really happy that you brought back the No. 8 car, and Josh along.. and I can totally understand why you miss driving so much, I sometimes TO THIS day, miss seeing you on the track or on the pit box for JR Motorsports. But, you gotta do what YOU know you gotta do. And PS I was a fan of JRM since 2005 at homestead... still am to this day

This podcast reminded me of why I was a jr fan all these years, I could tell just by his body language during his races week in and week out the kind of person he was, that so many could relate to, genuine and kind at his core, flawed like most of us, most likely would have a couple of chips at the top level had it not been for situations out of his control. I miss seeing him on the track, I root for elliott now and in some ways he reminds me alot of dale but just like big E there will be only one dale jr and I am grateful for all those years of getting to watch him race. Big congrats on all your success dale!🤘
I wish I could get Jr's attention with my simulator build. I think it is a phenomenal prototype to be able to give people a realistic Sim-Racing experience. I've taken it to a few tracks and people LOVED it. A truly immersive experience and captures your attention 100%

I get excited about Josh winning (2 races now) because he is living so many racers dreams. It's refreshing to see a guy who started by working hard and paying dues for a long time finally get his chance. Then to actually do something great with that opportunity is the cherry on top. Josh will win most popular xfinity driver in 2022 and I hope it helps him get sponsored to get into a decent cup series ride. Guy is plenty good enough to drive cup. Even if he stays in xfinity, I think thats a lot better opportunity for Josh than the late models

Selfishly, I am thrilled that I will get to see\hear Junior's thoughts on Racing matters for the rest of my life. I have him age-wise by 20 someodd years. Watching him and his family grow on SM and listening to his thoughts on racing...his understanding of the HISTORY of American Oval racing...will forever be a tie to my mom, dad, and grandfather and their love of racing. Mom passed in December. Dad and I continue to be fans of racing of all the things.
Junior may run a 'one off' race in the future. Whether he does or doesn't, Junior will always be THE NASCAR Historian until they put me in the ground. After that, I'll ask his dad.
The euphoria of memory, as a friend described it to me, speaking to past experiences and relationships

Junior I miss driving too man. It's been 11 years since I sat in a race car. I finished 6th in the standings in the 4 cylinder Truck Series at Beach Ridge Motor Speedway in 2009 up here in Maine. In a truck we built from pure stock off the road 1992 Toyota pickup before they had model names. We did great considering all the other trucks that had funding and way better equipment. I think about racing all the time and the day I get back it to finally better my career best which was a 2nd on dirt in 1992 Toyota Camry. See that checkerd flag first will surely be a moment of emotion. I want to get back at it because I know I will win.

I’ve watched a couple of these now and I just now noticed the 01 All-Star body panel on the back wall, has to be one of my favorite schemes. I was too focused on the diecast on the tables because I got an addiction to those things and particularly Budweiser so to cheer JR on is one hell of a fun time especially back in his DEI days and that sexy 8 rod

Jr your driving career may be over but you're so much more than a driver ! Being a driver alone does not define in totality who you are. That's only a part of who you are.

I believe JR cant move past missing racing during retirement because it was his whole word when it came to his dad . Even outside of the televised races, they had the garage out back behind the grammas house (memaw) ... I can imagine the behind the scenes, the clanking of the tools, the chilling in the garage. .. that all has to be part of it. Doesnt wanna leave behind the world that his father is eternally centered in. I could be.wrong.

The emotion comes from being an intuitive empath dal3. You tune into others emotions as they are your own. So do I. This is a good thing . Even tho most would call it a sign of weakness, its actually the opposite. Practicing your awareness through the emotions is what makes you a likely " intuitive empath ". Or psychic abilities. I think its claircognicense? It's all good. Follow your passion

I get it,retirement is not for sissies, lol. Maybe sometime, like in golf setup a seniors series, 4 or so races at a few major events. Nostalgia is a huge factor in our love of the sport. Doesn’t need to be cup cars or expensive vintage, just seeing y’all running and tapping, ( not necessarily banging) each other for 40 or 50 laps, sweet, might sell some extra tickets and merchandise too. Thank you and enjoy your videos.
For Pete’s sake... He can get a concussion and suffer irreversible brain damage in any genre of racing, in just one lap, so stop with the nonsense. Dale Jr had his time. It’s his daughters turn now. At least until he walks them down the aisle. After that, if he wants to potentially screw himself up just to make you folks all warm and fuzzy inside on Sunday afternoons, “knock himself out”, so to speak. But until then, leave him alone.

I miss you driving too,really miss you driving. But growing up there were two things I thought I wanted to do when I grew up, drive a race car, or be a truck driver. I wound up a truck driver. But like you now, I miss driving a truck but there were things about that that I didn't like also. But now I'm 66years old and disabled. So all I can do is miss it. Hang in there.

Denny Hamlin's folks took out 2 extra mortgages on the family home to finance his racing! Now my folks love me dearly but ain't no way they're taking out an extra mortgage, much less two, to let me go racing. Dale is making a fantastic point here cause you don't get the ride till someone believes in you that has financial backing. It's a money sport

It's almost like when Dale left us, Rick decided he couldn't watch your dreams fall flat and did what it took to give you the shots you needed. Didn't he say that he refused to let you fail? I'm sure that's the way he felt when you were winning races in his cars.

Dale I can really relate to how you feel about having to retire early due to a medical conditiuon. it is always something that weighs on me about how good I could have been. I raced motocross in Montana and when I finally figured out how to get over the fear of 30-40 bikes going into that first turn i started winning race after race and the worst thing happened. My best friend[( who got my mom talked into letting me race ( i was 14 at the time)], and I had just came home from a race were practicing (his parents owned a ranch so we had our own track) and i was at home changing a jet in my carb and he was at the track and about the time he was headed home from the practice track i was headed to the track and we hit head on. needless to say it ended my carrer. it was devastating. his dad the next year was going to totally sponser us to go race the callifornia circuit. He was going to buy us two bikes apiece anjd have them totally set up for us but that accident ruined it for me and Geoff didnt want to go without me going also. so that was totally a shitty way to end my carrer.
I hope Jr. tries a race in the SRX
