I'm an IMG in my first year. My plan is to do my residency in EM and specialize in Critical Care. The reason I will specialize in Critical Care is because I want to be able to spend more time with my patients, treat the most critical patients, and I like the challenge of difficult cases. However, I have a lot of time still to explore my options. Dr. Webb, you are an inspiration and a virtual mentor. I appreciate you doing these videos. I learn so much!
Dr. Webb, my dream has always been to go into orthopedics. The only thing that intimidates me is the lifestyle during training and the competitiveness of getting a residency spot. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks for the advice. It's good to know that our interests can change over time. I'm not sure why you've assumed that I'm not already in med school. As they say, when you assume, you make an ass of U and ME.
It is sick how i think the same about working on a lot of parts of the body thing and the puzzle theory thing, and i just found an orthopedist himself mentioning the same exact thoughts, makes me realize how true and common those facts are about why smo would choose ortho
You might've already mentioned this in another video, but what is the orthopedics schedule like? You mentioned EM being too unpredictable or inconvenient, and so I'm just curious about ortho's hours. Orthopedics or Sports Medicine are specialties I'm interested in. :)
Love your content Dr. Webb. Much appreciation! I coincidentally live in SA and work at Audie Murphy. I will be starting school at utmb in the fall and will be 40 when I finish. Do you think I will be at a disadvantage for obtaining an ortho residency due to my age? I just want to be realistic about my circumstances. Thanks for your insight and service. Respect.
Hey Dr. Webb!😀! Um...I'm a Pre-med student from the Philippines and I'm looking forward to going into medicine after I graduate. I'm really confused about the fellowship after the 5 years of residency in Orthopedic Surgery. After your spine fellowship, I understand that you'll be called an Orthopedic Spine surgeon afterwards...but will you only be focused on the spine and not operate in other parts of the skeletal system?
Hi Dr. Webb, I'm an IMG planning to take orthopedics residency in UK. Is it true that it would take me 8 yrs to finish the residency vs 5 yrs in US vs 4 yrs in Philippines?
Hey, I'm from Australia and have to do undergraduate degree before i can do my MBBS and was just wondering if Bacholar of Paramedics is a good course to prep me for med? Thanks x
Hey Dr. Webb this may sound a bit strange but I have a question for you since your an orthopedic surgeon. In the 7th grade I broke the growth plate in my right ring finger knuckle and had it set in a cast, and now as a sophomore in college the knuckle is deformed and the finger is shorter, I saw an orthopedic a few years back and he says there's nothing that can be done, it's constantly in pain so is there anything you could recommend for me to do?
Balla Jallow ehh I don't know about that bud I graduated in 2015 used it less than 1%, don't use it now... I really want to go back to school. If I'm lucky enough to go back to school I would love to.
Sculpin yea man criminology is useless. Well sometimes we make bad decisions its life. Hopefully you do get the opportunity to go back to school cause medicine is worth it.
I have a 3.55 gpa and 3.5 science I applied to dental school twice and didn’t get in so I got into chiro but I really would like to go to DO school do you think I should apply/ have a chance of getting in?

Jon Lock Are you in premed or medical school?
I would say concentrate on getting to med school and then look at your options. When I was younger I never imagined myself as a pathologist

Hey doctor Webb, Does where you go for undergrad really matter and what was your gpa in undergrad?
Hi Dr. Webb, I'm an IMG planning to take orthopedics residency in UK. Is it true that it would take me 8 yrs to finish the residency vs 5 yrs in US vs 4 yrs in Philippines?

Can you talk about working as a trained orthopaedic surgeon after residency, and what is the next step if not a fellowship in a specific field?
