Not gonna lie, I never got into the creepy/horror phase until I got into high school. That’s when I found all these channels you mentioned with each being great in their own unique way and style. However, who I believe affected me the most was definitely Tats because of the great work and visual presentations giving me legit nightmares at night. Nowadays I look back at all of these channels and videos for nostalgia, and I’m happy that these TH-camrs were able to introduce me to the creepy and scary side. One of the things I found online that really creeped me out as a kid was the videos of people exploring Aika Village in Animal Crossing New Leaf. The theories around it both fascinated and terrified me.
the one single time i visited aika village, when i got back to my town there were exactly 666 bells in the public work project i had, so that was really funny
@@granautismo69 AnimatedJames had a fart fetish account on DA that was very obviously drawn in the same style he used for his SFW stuff. When people asked him about it he aggressively denied it and IIRC attempted to guilt-trip people, then ragequit animations altogether.
I used to watch and get scared and fascinated by behind the scenes theme park videos too. And now I’ve ended up working at one (Alton Towers) due to that fascination (I’m not scared any more)
I remember being obsessed with the realistic cartoon characters trend from the late 2000s and early 2010s. I look back at most of them fondly but for whatever reason I was terrified of this one realistic Charlie Brown. There's something about small beady eyes and his large round head that just did not translate well into realism.
i tended to be overly cautious on youtube as a kid but a few things managed to spook me. the tokyo teddy bear music video from project diva (as well as other edgy vocaloid songs that was baby me's first exposure to ideas like s**cide), videos about theme park deaths or true crime, and more recently, battington's harmony & horror series. that one's a hard hitter, couldn't sleep one night because of it. edit: also the footage of the original snow white ride in disney world. literally something out of a found footage/analog horror video.
You deserve the biggest shoutout for not including anything super bloody in any of these. As a morbidly curious kid nothing was worse than going into a "spooky" top ten video and being greeted by hyperrealistic goreTM with no warning.
tats top videos is literally one of my favorite channels from my childhood, i still put them on once in a while just to listen to them while i work on stuff
I really miss the feeling of lying in bed as a 11-14yr old and just watching some creepypasta that made me scared to move or breathe too loud while I stared out in fear at the dark- I just don't get moments like that anymore😭
The "I feel fantastic" one still scares the hell out of me to this day. That freaking android can rot at the deepest, darkest part of the ocean for all I care. I hate it.
I actually read normal porn for normal people a few months ago and it was super creepy. There’s a lot of stories off the creepy pasta wiki (specifically the computers/internet category) that are pretty underrated.
24:27 in the I Feel Fantastic community the cut to the backyard is theorized to be either meant to demonstrate the capabilities of the camera John was using, or meant to be some sort of artistic add-on to the video. In his other music videos John has similar cuts to the outdoors, one time he films a tree branch
23:45 I got spooked by a schoolhouse rock parody when I was young. I think it was about media being controlled by only a few companies or something like that. I mostly remember the visuals of company logos with tentacles wrapped around a bunch of stuff, which freaked me out.
I remember watching Scaretheater in 2013 back when he had a different channel that was just him talking about creepypastas while he played video games. When I found the Scaretheater channel I was stunned to realize it was the same guy. It's insane to see how much he has evolved and improved over the years.
Great video. You brought up a bunch of nostalgic channels and Creepypastas. PeanutButterGamer, Tats Top Ten, ScafeTheater, and Rap Rat. Very fond memories of watching those types of videos.
I love scaretheater. I've been watching him since Obey The Walrus, which I think might be his first video(?) he doesn't upload as frequently as before, but he's around. Also you are 100% right about the "classic creepypasta countdown" channels. Their atmospheres are unparalleled.
1999 terrified me since i first heard it, i would put on scary top 10s and crime stories while i played animal jam and that came on..there was no indication that it was fake and i remembered being horrified and having to share a bed with my sister that night
ooh some of the creepy stuff i know and actually like are AdultSwim' night videos. "house has people in it" and "unedited footage of a bear" (most known i guess) also love rat boy genius and "i feel fantastic"
so many of the youtubers you mentioned were the exact ones i watched when i was younger for the creepy countdowns and adored. peanutbutter gamer's g-files, hoodohoodlumsrevenge, tats topvideos, the old danger dolan countdowns, and hell even blameitonjorge so I get the EXACT vibes you got. that stuff was so good.
One of the best Analog horror series I've seen so far are the Squimpus mcgrimpus videos and the walten files, the walten files even as a 16 year old SCARED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME it's only supposed to be unsettling but it's more than that. And that Charles face where he repeats his missing date over and over in a text to speech voice I never wanna see again that thing is beyond horrific.
The I Feel Fantastic video actually has quite the tragedy behind it. The original guy behind the animatronic died before the original video was even uploaded on TH-cam, and he never got to see people giving his creations the appreciation he always wanted them to have.
I've followed BlameItOnJorge for years, ever since I was big on Creepypastas. I have him to thank for my developed love of lost media and if it weren't for the early videos I never would've found my passion. I love him so much, still watch him to this day
when you mentioned danger dolan, i remembered this one video he made that i never watched because the thumbnail scared the hell out of me when i was younger. it was called something like "15 weirdest video game glitches". the thumbnail was some girl with silver hair, bulging eyes, and mouth stretched like a duck bill. i tried to avoid it but i couldn't because it kept getting recommended to me for months
I know it's silly but I can't overstate how much I appreciate the warning that squidward's suicide/red mist is in this. It's the only creepypasta that really bothers me, even though most people think it's one of the hokiest. Despite the writing being trash tier generic lost episode fare, something about those fucking eyes just haunt me, and going into videos like this, I always end up tense, half the time even covering the screen just so I won't see it if it happens to switch over to the pic with no warning
The very first portion of this vid was literally a culmination of my younger years while on yt long before I had any idea of social media being a major player in my life now lol. Great vid, too! I always look forward to your content.
I have the clearest memory of a version of 1999 where there was an episode of the Oobi knockoff that was supposed to be a “scissors safety” video where a kid gets his finger cut off. I read it on some Wattpad creepypasta collection. I honestly kinda wanna collect all the weird off shoot versions of 1999 even if they were bad. A lot of them prolly got taken down because there was a big copyright huballoo
Hahah XD I have the exact opposite experience with the haunted mansion ride. I had these disney VHS tapes as a toddler that took you through the parks with singalongs and mascot characters and stuff and I would watch them on repeat. I would cry whenever they would end because they would do a whole "goodbye" ceremony acting like you were leaving disney lmao. Fastforward to when I'm 15 and me and my family take a trip to disney and go on the haunted mansion ride. My mom is able to SING EVERY WORD OF THE SONG. Every word, without skipping a beat, perfectly. I apologized for the whole ride!
I just found your channel and I cant explain it but your channel is vibes. Just very chill and calming and I cant stop smiling. Thank you so much for making these videos
Very nice video! I wanted to add that, for me, I'm probably a bit older than most of you, but even so, creepypastas and online horror, well... they were super intense! I can't imagine what it would have been like if I would have found all these when I was much younger! What a world, haha
bro the rugrats theory one made me learn what schizophrenia was at like 9 years old, and then i would go onto roblox and lie to my friends and said i had it. i don't know why or how i had friends, i was annoying af
I used to google “Morso” just to scare myself too 😂 same with Ratafak and Fafão. I’ve gained a weird fascination for these unintentionally creepy kids characters. Makes me wonder what it’s like to be a kid that grew up with those guys.
Once I watched a youtube video about lucarios. It was called "lucarios house is full of pests". I didn't know it at the time but it was a micro f3t1sh video about a lucario family unknowingly squishing pokemon bugs like caterpie, who were fully sentient and capable of speaking english. There was like blood and stuff whenever the bugs got squished and I loved bugs so I was completely and utterly traumatized. Haven't looked for that video since
Oh man, I loved scaretheater. He's not just the reason I got into creepy online videos but also ARGs via stuff like Poochie & Pansy/Hunt for the Gangadiddle. And since apparently I missed something, what happened with Danger Dolan hiring iffy artists? I drifted away from them ages ago so have no idea what went down.
Candle Cove freaked me out. Also, out of everything in Vocaloid, ‘Alice Human Sacrifice’ scared me. Secrets of Wysteria too, due to it being based on a true story and the reversed message.
As a kid I also thought the JTK image was too unrealistic to be scary, but the concept of a guy who just goes out telling people to "go to sleep" and then killing them still scared me shitless. There was one obscure creepypasta (which I can't remember the name of) that made me way more scared, though. It basically tells the tale of a guy who likes composing music and playing it on his piano, but he sucks and no one likes his music. So he sells his soul to the devil in exchange for making him good at making music, so good in fact that he gets really popular. But of course, there's a catch: anyone who listens to his music dies. Lil' me was terrified of accidentally listening to even a snippet of one of his songs and then instantly perish. Nowadays I find it kinda funny that THIS managed to scare me, yet when it came to weird videos like "I feel fantastic" and "agamemnon counterpart", I never thought of them as anything more than weird art projects.
When it comes to creepypasta for me, i didn't get into the jeff the killer and slenderman stuff till i was like 14 and i knew it was fake. But I did fully believe the talking cat creepypasta/hoax and was TERRIFIED as a small child of him 💀
God it's SO WEIRD how much the stuff we used to watch lines up, all the way down to me also finding that old blameitonjorge video!! that rugrats theory literally made me have to turn it off it freaked me out so bad. It's really nice seeing a youtuber talk abt stuff that I grew up with though, I'm a bit younger so a lot of the other childhood trauma videos from other youtubers are things that are out of my age range, and while I enioy those too it's nice to get a lot more relatability in there !!
Channels like TatsTopTen, SomeOrdinaryGamers (when he did vids like that) and Mullet Mike were channels that Kickstarter my love for horror media. I got into it through urban legends and creepypastas but these channels piqued my interest for it all. It didn't help that I watched it alone in the dark late at night or downstairs on the family pc when everyone else was asleep. I scared myself for the hell of it. Thanks for reawakening those memories, dope video 💕
This... this is hitting VERY close to home. I've probably spent a ton of my childhood being on the internet completely unsupervised and discovering scary (and questionable) stuff.
0:50 I know the EXACT image you're talking about. It's the only creepypasta image that ever got under my skin for more than like 10 seconds and I still go KILL IT WITH FIRE (as in 40k Sisters of Battle levels of burnination) when it pops up (usually on iceberg video thumbnails). It's not particularly scary (it's the typical tryhard stuff and deserving of the diarrhea sfx), but it's way more unsettling than it deserves to be.
I remember the night when I just read creepy pasta after creepy pasta. I was just awake in bed, scared, I was like 12? I wish to somehow reexperience that as an adult or inflict that on others in a good way
thankyou for warning me about the classic creepypasta scary faces stuff. I hallucinated alot as a kid (still do now occasionally - but ive mostly grown out of it) and the no. 1 thing my brain LOVED to latch onto was scary faces. It's like it stored them to a special place in my memory just to taunt me with later. I don't want to risk sparking some adult hallucinations/sleep paralysis episodes with the ol' reliables (squidward... my nemesis...) so I'll just listen to this one. :)
OMG Rainbow Dash vs Sonic.... That memory just hit me like a bag of bricks I totally forgot. But yea no that side of youtube totally messed me up it made me so uncomfortable and I couldn't get it out of my brain EDIT: ok I just went back and rewatched those videos, and they were not nearly as messed up as I remember. But to my little child brain they were ok
the intro was so true because this kinda happened to me at the age of 12, i had watched a narration of an ed, edd & eddy creepypasta done by gory parody productions, i remember the image of a mutilated jimmy haunting me so bad that i couldn't sleep all night when that happened, what made it worse was that the lights were off and it was completely dark, minus the eerie glows of the old tinker computer and an imaginext wizard tower, and i was left with my fear of seeing something dark in a corner waiting for me to sleep so it can painfully rip me to shreds. Nowadays i sleep with a light on in my bedroom, i was also pretty messed up by red mist squidward and bootleg dumped spongebob; and one time i was scrolling through a social media, and that one damned "Grim adventures of billy and mandy" screenshot of billy with realistic eyes pasted on him made sure to freak me out to no end, to the point of having to leave a hallway light on to go get a snack or use the bathroom.
It's very funny to me that Morso has become this spooky lost media creepypasta character, because his show is very well known here in Finland! Aasi, Morso & Mouru is a very inoffensive and tame show in itself, but the way the puppets looked and moved was quite uncanny. I have no idea why Morso was designed that way! His wrinkly face, bulging eyeballs and tiny little teeth are so creepy. But yeah, the show is a very common childhood trauma thing for people who were kids in the late 90s (my parents for example xD).
I used to binge watch these videos of this team of guys microwaving stuff. There was one where they microwaved a Pikachu plush and it horrified me as a kid. Just seeing the pikachu's face burn and melt scared me so much. After i'd already watched the video they'd still keep it in recommended and the thumbnail was just the burnt face of pikachu. I hated it so much I stopped watching youtube for a week just to try and escape it.
I remember when I like 8-9 years old that the Jeff the killer image freaking me the hell out. Not the story itself but the picture it's just something about those small yet wide eyes and that smile. Just the smile
Once again I am thankful that I was not given much Internet access until I was 14, and that I was eased into it. As someone who was VERY easily frightened as a child, I would’ve had many a sleepless night thanks to the Internet.
Omg, I LOVED I feel fantastic when i was 12/14. Me and my friend from animal crossing used to watch all her videos (her being the android in the video, her name is Tara). We found out the guy who made her never intended her to be creepy and she was intended to be a greeter at a car dealership but but too unpolished to be used. We thought they were the funniest videos ever and would cry from laughing so hard at her. IMO her other song "Electricity" is better than I feel fantastic. But the one video of hers that actually freaked me out and still does to this day is "piercing the android". It's so so so unnerving and i haaaateeeee watching it
early internet access + unsupervised has messed me up REAL bad. I used to love alfreds playhouse (if you know you know) and in the true crime community. I also watched alot of gore (sometimes real) or just got brainwashed into liking the idea of young adult/Adult x Minor (Ik it's terrible still recovering from that one). Recently ive come to accept my trauma and I'm slowely getting back on my feet to stop my bad habits but its pretty hard, I only watch cartoon gore from now on mostly
A notable favorite Creepypasta of mine from way back when was the Holders series. It was a series of ritualpastas with no real overarching plot that were written in second-person perspective. They were kind of like supernatural walkthroughs, and I honestly can't describe them as well as just listening to/reading the actual pastas themselves can. I loved trying to figure out the loose continuity between the stories, and I always wondered what would happen if someone succeeded in all of the rituals. I honestly think that the Holders series shaped a large part of what kind of horror stuff I like nowadays. "Surreal, unexplainable happenings where the main character is just one of many who could be in their spot" describes not just Holders, but also Uzumaki and The Magnus Archives. I'm not sure if Holders counts as cosmic horror, but it definitely feels like it's adjacent to it imo.
I remember, when I was like maybe 10, I watched the “salad fingers” and it scared me a lot and my friend was very into creepypastra back then, and would tell me about (it would freak me out.)
Scaretheatre my beloved, he introduced me into such much horror content but also made me just not believe into everything I see It comforted me when he just debunked most shit it was nice.
i love penpal so much my friends probably hate it now just because of how much i used to talk about loving it i would donate my soul to the creator of penpal

The fact you inserted a fart noise when mentioning AnimatedJames can't be a coincidence
Farts… hmmmmm. OH GOD
Context?
@@granautismo69 farts. And love. All I’m going to really say
She did talk about AnimatedJames in a previous mlp iceberg and old mlp animations video so she already knows what's up.
@@granautismo69 AnimatedJames had a fart fetish account on DA that was very obviously drawn in the same style he used for his SFW stuff. When people asked him about it he aggressively denied it and IIRC attempted to guilt-trip people, then ragequit animations altogether.
PBG Holds Up Really Well As In He's Not Constantly Saying Every Slur Known To Mankind
Pbg gets no heated gamer moments thank FUCK
Pbg is a SAINT compared to basically every other normalboots member
BlameitonJorge is unequivocally based, can confirm
LORD harmony and horror made me not sleep for THREE DAYS
I know that I watch iceberg videos but I’m still cautious and I never tempt myself into looking up anything or watching anything that’s not okay
Me too
You deserve the biggest shoutout for not including anything super bloody in any of these. As a morbidly curious kid nothing was worse than going into a "spooky" top ten video and being greeted by hyperrealistic goreTM with no warning.
Hienz ketchup warning!!!
Hunts catsup
where's the fun in that?
life is about the unexpected.
the issue is how society doesn't help those traumatzied and ignores them.
Sauce pfp?
“Morbidly” WAS THAT A REFERENCE TO THE HIT FILM MORBIU-
tats top videos is literally one of my favorite channels from my childhood, i still put them on once in a while just to listen to them while i work on stuff
Thanks for the support =)
1999 still holds up today in my mind and it is my go-to “ghost story” to read to my friends
I really miss the feeling of lying in bed as a 11-14yr old and just watching some creepypasta that made me scared to move or breathe too loud while I stared out in fear at the dark-
I just don't get moments like that anymore😭
Wow we were scared by the exact same things as a kid lol. I keep forgetting we are near the same age.
The "I feel fantastic" one still scares the hell out of me to this day. That freaking android can rot at the deepest, darkest part of the ocean for all I care. I hate it.
Blameitonjorge is such a good but scary vibe at like 2am.
I actually read normal porn for normal people a few months ago and it was super creepy. There’s a lot of stories off the creepy pasta wiki (specifically the computers/internet category) that are pretty underrated.
the beginning is bascially what I felt after skipping around everywhere at the end of time
24:27 in the I Feel Fantastic community the cut to the backyard is theorized to be either meant to demonstrate the capabilities of the camera John was using, or meant to be some sort of artistic add-on to the video.
I've been watching him since Obey The Walrus, which I think might be his first video(?)
he doesn't upload as frequently as before, but he's around.
Also you are 100% right about the "classic creepypasta countdown" channels. Their atmospheres are unparalleled.
1999 terrified me since i first heard it, i would put on scary top 10s and crime stories while i played animal jam and that came on..there was no indication that it was fake and i remembered being horrified and having to share a bed with my sister that night
ooh
some of the creepy stuff i know and actually like are AdultSwim' night videos. "house has people in it" and "unedited footage of a bear" (most known i guess)
also love rat boy genius and "i feel fantastic"
so many of the youtubers you mentioned were the exact ones i watched when i was younger for the creepy countdowns and adored. peanutbutter gamer's g-files, hoodohoodlumsrevenge, tats topvideos, the old danger dolan countdowns, and hell even blameitonjorge so I get the EXACT vibes you got. that stuff was so good.
Can we talk about how cool shunk's oc looks? :D
Idk what it is but i like the eyes
As a kid, my first creepy TH-cam exposure was Chills/Top15s. I used to watch them alot and was usually intrigued in the stories
Awesome creepypasta recommendations! I went and read a bunch of these and it was a great time
Once I watched a youtube video about lucarios. Haven't looked for that video since
Just found it, it's called "many pests in lucario's house"
Sounds horrifying nonetheless
@@marianasobrenome3316 lol
I remember watching the fifth DHMIS episode as a kid and just being so confused
i remember when i first got into scps i didnt know if they were real or not for a long while and it was really cool and spooky
5:17
using the vine fart sound for animated james is soooo amazing hahahahaha
I love how unfiltered the old internet was
Once of the things online that scared me shittless for a while was the Webkinz killer. It scared me so much I didn't play for about a year lmao
Finally, a second person who remembers return to return to oz
I still remember watching Smile HD, Cupcakes, and The Rainbow Factory with a straight face when I was 7-8 years old 💀
When it comes to creepypasta for me, i didn't get into the jeff the killer and slenderman stuff till i was like 14 and i knew it was fake.
I think this video is the best in the series so far. It actually freaked me out too.
Man I can’t believe I caught this early
0:50 I know the EXACT image you're talking about. It's the only creepypasta image that ever got under my skin for more than like 10 seconds and I still go KILL IT WITH FIRE (as in 40k Sisters of Battle levels of burnination) when it pops up (usually on iceberg video thumbnails). It's not particularly scary (it's the typical tryhard stuff and deserving of the diarrhea sfx), but it's way more unsettling than it deserves to be.
I remember the night when I just read creepy pasta after creepy pasta. I was just awake in bed, scared, I was like 12? I wish to somehow reexperience that as an adult or inflict that on others in a good way
Going back to watch sonic shorts and sonic zombie now was an insane experience like I REALLY WATCHED THIS AS A KID AROUND MY PARENTS??
thankyou for warning me about the classic creepypasta scary faces stuff.
the intro made me felt called out
That fucking robot that said "viewer discression is asvised" would live rent free in my head for years
IM SO HAPPY SOMEONE ELSE GOT SCARED OF RETURN TO OZ
i can't beleve someone else was actualy creeped out the the G files intro like I thought I was the only one
OMG Rainbow Dash vs Sonic.... That memory just hit me like a bag of bricks I totally forgot. But yea no that side of youtube totally messed me up it made me so uncomfortable and I couldn't get it out of my brain
EDIT: ok I just went back and rewatched those videos, and they were not nearly as messed up as I remember. But to my little child brain they were ok
7:52 NO WAY WE HAD THE SAME CHILDHOOD!!! I WATCHED PBG SO MUCH AS A KID!!!
the intro was so true because this kinda happened to me at the age of 12, i had watched a narration of an ed, edd & eddy creepypasta done by gory parody productions, i remember the image of a mutilated jimmy haunting me so bad that i couldn't sleep all night when that happened, what made it worse was that the lights were off and it was completely dark, minus the eerie glows of the old tinker computer and an imaginext wizard tower, and i was left with my fear of seeing something dark in a corner waiting for me to sleep so it can painfully rip me to shreds.
Can’t wait to go on this nostalgia trip! We’re quite close in age shunks, so I know this side of childhood so well HAHA A
JUST GOT TO THE PART ABOUT 1999 I REMEMEBWR THAT 💀 what a thing for baby me to read N
Just the smile
my friend just got me into ratboy genius this year! i actually love it and Happy Factory is one of my fav songs!
I litteraly never thought I'd see someone reference Holes. That was my favorite book as a kid.
NAKED LADIES????? (nice vargskelethor ref) I love this series and your mlp videos, keep it up
Thanks for this got a lot of good nostalgic feels from some of these
Yume Nikki music at the beginning how I already know this is a banger vid
I remember all of these!!! Ah, I just got hit by a huge nostalgia blast
the guy who made i feel fantastic wa apparently just a guy who loved his robots, he died in 2006
Once again I am thankful that I was not given much Internet access until I was 14, and that I was eased into it. As someone who was VERY easily frightened as a child, I would’ve had many a sleepless night thanks to the Internet.
As a kid I used to be scared of the Totoro angel of death theory
Omg, I LOVED I feel fantastic when i was 12/14. Me and my friend from animal crossing used to watch all her videos (her being the android in the video, her name is Tara). We found out the guy who made her never intended her to be creepy and she was intended to be a greeter at a car dealership but but too unpolished to be used. We thought they were the funniest videos ever and would cry from laughing so hard at her. IMO her other song "Electricity" is better than I feel fantastic. But the one video of hers that actually freaked me out and still does to this day is "piercing the android". It's so so so unnerving and i haaaateeeee watching it
also when the vid started and i heard the barracks settlement song i knew it was gonna be a good vid
the lost episodes kept me so far up at night it was crazy
early internet access + unsupervised has messed me up REAL bad.
I'm not sure if Holders counts as cosmic horror, but it definitely feels like it's adjacent to it imo.
for some reason as a kid i was scared of clay-mation
Same, stop motion in general scared me when I was young.
Yep this is the right thing to be watching at 2am in the dark
I remember, when I was like maybe 10, I watched the “salad fingers” and it scared me a lot and my friend was very into creepypastra back then, and would tell me about (it would freak me out.)
BROOO i started screaming when u mentioned pbg that unlocked SOOOO MANY memories in my mind lol. love the vid btw
23:06 MORSO!!! I'm Finnish and that thing scared the crap out of me as a kid when it was shown on TV 😖😖
