Hey! It shouldn’t hurt, but too much tension can cause irritation. If it does itch, it can be caused by multiple reasons.( tension, hair growth, silicone covering on the hair extensions you buy). I recommend a sew in weave for anyone who wants to protect their natural hair, try color without the commitment, hair growth ( bc the braids will stimulate blood flow, which stimulates growth) and to try new styles and lengths without the long term commitment!
