How long ago did the media warn and advertise that the meters should be upgraded? Such a sad thing that most people leave such importent matters until the last moment. Our condolences to the family of this poor man. May his soul rest in peace.
People had 8 months to do it!!!!! And it can be done remotely. The problem with selected people, they do not want to help themselves, co-dependency on the ANC incompetent and dysfunctional government, that makes false promises and fails to deliver.!!!!!
Nna blame Mandela on this one these people were not buying electricity since the dawn of democracy now they're struggling to upgrade their electric boxes because they have tampered with them
which "These" people are you referring too? because we went 2 eskom in April to enquire about upgrading eskom matters notification we received and were told that it's still early to upgrade. we were given a ref number to upgrade with to eskom website that did not work. we went back and was told eskom will send people in our areas via our ward councillors to educate us how to upgrade on our mobile phones without going to their offices.
In the suburbs the city went to the homes and there was proper constant communication. The counselors are Not doing their job and also the utility just does Not care
Key change tokens are an automated service initiated by the utility service provider... people shouldnt have to stand in lines like sheep to get a token that should have been vended months ago by the city as a normal part of purchasing an electricity prepaid token... This is just plain poor management and incompetence and laziness as usual by the ANC managed municipalities. Hopefully these people will catcha wakeup and vote DA next time round.
@ hgfku THAT'S NOT REALITY THAT'S ACCEPTING DISRESPECT! ESkom should have run a proper campaign not just talk to journalists. They should have sent ESKOM officials to the villages and location to educate people how to DIY. All they did was talk "posh" English with journalits not the people. The people were still waiting to be properly addressed. Even when you visit their offices there is no written notice in official languages spoken in that particilar area. ESKOM is continuing like there is no deadline. Now people are stranded. It's not a matter of issuing the notice, it's how the message was delivered.
I cried ds morning wen i saw ds on tv.. de reason i cried is bcos jst yesterday i told someone dt ds is not fair for de elderly who r taking medications to wait in such snakey queue.. Dey should hav done better to accommodate de elderly ... SHAME ON DS 🤮 SYSTEM 😭😭😭
Remember how electricians and those working in electricity would be attacked during the midst of load shedding? Well, those are the repercussions on the actions. In my area, they came to our house. We weren't there when they came the first time but we called them and they returned.
In the suburbs they were coming to the homes plus councilors were communicating on which areas were being attended But when it comes to the townships they must go and queue 😢
He wasnt shot, or stabbed, crushed in a taxi crash, killed by a wild animal nor suffered a long painful death from cancer or some horrible disease... In Africa we can only hope to be so lucky to pass away swiftly of natural causes like him... May he rest in peace.
Eskom communicated to the public a long time ago to recode their meters but us usual some citizens chose not to listen and do what they do best, wait until the last minute
ESKOM ONLY SPOKE ENGLISH WITH JOURNALISTS they did not address the communities in official languages. Hence people could not associaye the problem with them. Why don't they have even an urgent notice at their offices? They are just carrying on like there is no dealine
We were worried about the ZamaZumas that's why we are late. Fa wena morwarre o ne o kgomaretse ka fa tlase ga lefatshe mo dikhuting tsa dihele a o ne o tla tshwenyega ka motlakase le mabokoso a metara that are bridged😢
The problem is in south Africa there's always the attitude of Gomso (tomorrow) we always leave everything too the last moment becos this has been in the process for a few years already, ask yourself the question was electricity being bought over these years??
The only sent elderly people sms's in English. Are we in England? Elderly people don't even read that. They probably thought it was something about sales. They should have held iimbizo's within the communities.
Ntlha ya bontsi.. Batho ba tla phutlhama jaaka mashatile sadly ga gona bodyguard yo o tla ba tshwarang. Ke sa tswa go bala motho a re re ne re na le nako e e fetang e e lekaneng. Ba lebala gore re taboga ka Nako ya Afrika. The ke. Nnyaa Itlhaganele fano
But why is the process so long why isn’t the lines moving Must say at least they complying Eskom is useless they should of made other means and ways to help the people upgrade
@@nhlanhlamahlangu2895That is a lie. Even if there are, a lot of people aren 't aware of that because all ESKOM did was speak "good" English with journalits and send elderly people lousy English messages they cannot read. No imbizo's within the community, no urgent notices at their premises just, NOTHING! Just carrying on like there is no dealine!
This is so sad if people have to die in the queue like that
Please try to interview our african people using their African languages please, dats a disrespect bcs hes even struggling to explain
💯 it's as if we are not at home like we are in some foreign country, very disrespectful.
I agree. subtitles are created for that... dont be lazy newsroom Africa... make an effort please.
So sad😢
May He RIP🙏🤍🕊
This thing of interviewing black in English is starting to annoy me…. Not everyone can express themselves in English maan.
It's not an issue of colour. You can be Black and English is your first language. And you can be white and have no proficiency in English at all.
This is too painfully at our age standing in the line being given so short time before dead line
Depending on ANC leaders will always lead to this.

@Earthopics 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣8 mth notices in writing, on the news, and ward leaders....people thought they were joking and played the race card!!!!
These people queing can't do it remotely like some of us because they have tampered with their electric boxes
@nhlanhlamahlangu2895 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for saying out aloud. Yet they playing the victim card.
And if you have been buying electricity they do it automatically they give you a code to check if its updated or not
Eskom is nonsense 🙄south Africa itself is a joke....Ramaphosa is disgusting i used to respect him alot
Rams is trash. I used to respect him as well.
Nna blame Mandela on this one these people were not buying electricity since the dawn of democracy now they're struggling to upgrade their electric boxes because they have tampered with them
*😂 Please guys let's speak our mother's language 😂*
Let's face the reality and avoid pointing fingers. These people have been advised long time ago to upgrade their electricity

Remember how electricians and those working in electricity would be attacked during the midst of load shedding? Well, those are the repercussions on the actions. In my area, they came to our house. We weren't there when they came the first time but we called them and they returned.
But when they want votes they go door to door

Eskom communicated to the public a long time ago to recode their meters but us usual some citizens chose not to listen and do what they do best, wait until the last minute
Was the communication sufficient? Reinforced? I’m sure they could have done more, not everyone can get this through without assistance
ESKOM ONLY SPOKE ENGLISH WITH JOURNALISTS they did not address the communities in official languages.

This happens while others worried about Zama Zamas

Black people speaking to each other in English is such a colonial thing bro 😂😂😂😂
It's so affecting.... 😢
As black South Africans we're alone
Eskom came with a plan to force everyone to pay/ buy electricity and it's working wonders, Condolences to the family that lost a loved one
Sad no one is worried about this people's health,,,,but illegal zamazamas getting lots of attention,,,SA for criminals
why you cutting a man like thaAT
That was extremely rude
The problem is in south Africa there's always the attitude of Gomso (tomorrow) we always leave everything too the last moment becos this has been in the process for a few years already, ask yourself the question was electricity being bought over these years??
Why are these people in lines there are two codes why is no one assisting
They have tampered with their electric boxes
didnt they say about upgrading a month ago? i think i once heard about this in october
But this was announced six months ago
How was it announced? Does Eskom have any urgent notice at their offices just to raise awareness?
He actually died in a queue at home affairs
It does not matter. Someone will die in those too. People are sleeping outside Eskom offices. How is that going to affect their health?
Why did ppl leave it till this late. This announcement was made last year already... May the man who lost his life rest in peace😢
The only sent elderly people sms's in English. Are we in England? Elderly people don't even read that. They probably thought it was something about sales. They should have held iimbizo's within the communities.
😢😢😢😢😢
This is all legacy of ANC.We are correctly said only numbers.
During vote peaple they knock in our house saying they count us now why don't you send people house to house to change those meters
Soweto is a cause for concern so many civilians have tampered with their electric boxes.
Q's are kot just in Soweto. All rural towns are dealing withthe same issue.
But why didnt the do long ago why now i think we have a problem of listing last menutes iyo why mara
It happens
Ah some people are just the same as our rulers who cares how many months they were given the fact is someone has died waiting why so heartless

Must say at least they complying
Eskom is useless they should of made other means and ways to help the people upgrade
There are other means if you have not tampered with your electric box no need for que unfortunately Soweto is always out of order
