He's really informative, but I'm so upset. I've had a plant that I bought as a tiny little thing and it just grew straight up as one stalk. I love it, but it got so tall and I didn't know what to do so I watched this for help. I did what he said, but it just seems to have died at the top and the dead part has reached the next stem, but no new growth has sprouted. I think I killed it :(:(-------------*** UPDATE *** I'm happy to report that I finally have new growth not only on the top shoot, but on the two below that one. they sprouted new growth at the same time. I feel much better and should've trusted the expert. Thank you!

I especially appreciate the pace at which he speaks and the thorough explaination given as to the reasoning behind the instruction. Listening to a person speak in an unhurried relaxed way is refreshing and much appreciated. Thank you.

This was a FANTASTIC instructional video on propagation! My husband attempted to propagate our umbrella trees a few years ago by just dipping the cut end in honey and sticking the cutting right back into the ground . Whatever article he read or video he watched on that method was completely inaccurate & unsuccessful.
I have several of these growing in beds surrounding our back porch and are growling taller and unevenly than everything else. I have been hesitant on trimming them back the last couple of years.
But Now after watching this, I’m very excited to cut them back now! Can’t wait to see the results from multiple cuttings I will be using your method on! Thanks for such a detailed & descriptive video!!

This was maybe on my list of favourite plants but after having bought them during lockdown and they have thrived for 2 years without needing a great deal of time and they always look so fresh they have climbed very rapidly to my top five favourites. This was interesting! We got one of these from my grandmother's funeral end of June. I absolutely loved the look if this plant but now about 2 months later, I'm worried they packed too many stems into the pot for the "pretty factor" & not for the plant's health. I can't wait to propagate a few new plants!! Thank you for helping keep my grandmother's memory alive

I tried the stocks like you did, but also tried little segments with 1, 2, or 3 leaves attached like some other videos suggest. The stalks with multiple leaves took 2-3 months to have good roots and plant in dirt.
The small ones, some had one 2 or 3 nodes with just as many leaves. The ones with at least 2 nodes put of new leaf growth throughout being in water and have finally started getting roots and some are almost ready to put in water it has taken 6 months!! I put them in water June 29th and it is now jan 31st. Unless they lost all leaves and went mushy I kept them and it has paid off.
2 of 4 of the stock propagated ones thrived going straight in premium gnat reducing soil (w added perlight) other 2 went in non premium soil(added perlite) and died tho one was knocked over by a cat.

It seems so obvious after your explanation that these are needed, but when you buy something from someone, well, you just assume that they know what they are doing...

This is a very helpful video because not only was I able to understand what kind of plant I had but I also learned how to care for my Schefflera and how to properly propagate. I am a novice plant owner and one thing I did recently with a leaf steam was plant it in a clay pot. This was a guess I had at propagation, before watching your video. What I noticed and my question is that I have started too see small roots emerging from the soil. Is this also a method of propagation and how do I need to proceed to create another healthy Schefflera? Thanks in advance.

Exactly my same question because it's the same thing I have: a long long plant from two stems, so I was wondering if I could make two cuttings of that long one; otherwise, seems like a lot of wasted plant and sad to cut it :-(
