FACTS: The watersheds of the Milk River and the Poplar River/Great Muddy Creek, which make up the northernmost part of the Mississippi/Missouri River basin emptying in the Gulf of Mexico, are the unmapped, unmarked northern boundary of the Louisiana Territory. Parts of the said watersheds are located in what are now the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Does anyone know...what the exact western boundary of the Louisiana Purchase, inside the modern state of Louisiana was? Some have claimed it was the Red River. However...all maps I have studied, indicate, the western boundary was farther west of the Red River. Not by much...but still not the exact boundary according to maps I have studied. Does anyone know...what the exact boundary was? Was it possibly the Bayou Teche? I suspect...the western boundary may not have been very clear, back then...or even now. Appreciate any responses. Thank you.
