This was a very good discussion that gets us past the emotion and challenges us to really think about how we would go about doing this, without it backfiring on us, and making the proliferation worse and even more uninhibited. Using the aftermath of the overturning of Roe as a guide is proving to be helpful, both from the standpoint of what to emulate and what NOT to emulate.
Yes, pornography should be banned! And it's demonic that these disgusting ads pop up on kids internet games and things like that. The system is corrupt.
Then don't let YOUR kids on the internet. YOUR kids = YOUR responsibility. Stop interfering in other people's lives because you don't know how to set up filters on your kids' electronic devices.
That's like saying that liquor stores should be allowed to sell booze to children and if the parents don't want them to drink, it's their responsibility. No, parents can't be expected to watch every child's move, especially on the internet. If you can't live without watching strangers shag on camera, there's something seriously wrong with you Spencer.
Okay, was the question can it be banned, or can you prevent it completely? That's two different things. Many drugs are banned, yet they are still used. But there are supposed to be concequences to selling and possessing drugs. I say supposed because in many states and cities/counties it is not applied, at least not really. If course we should ban it. Of course people will still produce it. There should be arrests of those people and investigation as to their participation (willing or unwilling).
Excellent as usual, Allie Beth! 👏🏻 For me, porn is like abortion. It’s a completely moral issue and therefore always wrong. To me that means whatever it takes it should be presented as much as possible
I used to believe that as well, as much as I found it to be disgusting and immoral, because I'm very libertarian minded. Over the past decade or so, and especially in the past few years, I've changed my mind on that because I've come to see the net harm that it's done to society. Not just "porn", either, but pornographic elements in television and movies. It's desensitized the Millennial generation to the point where they're allowing pornographic material into K-12 libraries and their moral compasses are no longer exactly pointing north. It destroys marriages and families, it destroys individuals. I would honestly say, without hyperbole, that it is the single most destructive thing in our society if you take it all into account, and it's all but invisible because it's been so normalized. It also directly and indirectly supports the trafficking industry. I would say "bring back the curtain of shame in the video store" kind of mentality but we know that will never happen. Even legislation is unlikely to be the right call, either. But something definitely has to be done. It's a cancer.
@@anwylhsm954 I understand your position, but society conditions us to pretend as if the dark nature of human nature does not exist. Despite the harm, people will continue to give into such things in many forms (i.e. videos, magazines, photos, etc.) Even when marriage rates were high in the US, porn existed. For me, I believe that adults should be able to do what adults do. I just think that there should be safe spaces for kids.
@@rickmarshall5419 Porn has existed since there were people. You could argue its was far more available in the past as every Roman would have seen lewd drawings on every wall they walked by daily. The only way you can run into porn now would be to mistype on the internet. Falling marriage rates have nothing to do with porn, its mostly economics and disparities in treatment when going through a divorce.
@rickmarshall5419 I used to think that way, but all it does it leave you without a chair when the music stops. And there are some things you cannot compromise on. There is a reason the Brits forced China to legalize opium. The Chinese are doing that to us with fentanyl. Just allowing anyone in let to the fall of Rome. extreme pornography absolutely ban but how often Hollywood over the years present ever more pornography as entertainment anyone else feel that?
totally feel that. Do you think it's going to get better?
"extreme" as defined by who? The attendees of the Folsom Street Fair?

Ban religion instead, i want my porn!
Even though im against porn, the lady case is weak, and feel like shes trying to fear monger me.
You’re ridiculous she did amazing
How was her case weak, exactly?
Weak
Interesting. What did you think was weak about her argument?
That's because the argument for banning porn can never be anything but fearmongering, based as it is on nothing more than emotions.
My son was introduced to male porn on a fake Lego site. He was 7 years old I think. It was a hijacking’s porn site aimed towards the youth.
Pornography should be banned!
If we ban that then we should ban romance novels too.
After all romance novels arePornographic.
How come the romance novels are never under attack?

In that case we should ban the bible since it make people do crazy and immoral things.
They should ban the bible instead.
😆😆
Even though I oppose porn around children, it is unconstitutional because it steps on the freedom of expression.
