Leinaala Haili - Gabby, Eddie Kamae, Palani - they’re all gone. That Hawaii is gone forever. It will never be recaptured. However, we have it in our hearts and minds, we will have it forever .

It is appropriate that a benchmark moment inspiring the Renaissance of Hawaiian Culture occur in Hana.
Hana, location of the largest sacred heiau, Pi'ilani, in all of Polynesia.
The Hawaiian culture and language, though still on life support, has been saved from the brink of extinction. In fact it is surviving and even thriving in some respects, with grace and fervent enthusiasm we've come to expect of a stoic peoples.
