King Charles III welcomed to Balmoral in Scotland by Royal Guard of honour and pony 21st August 2023

- King Charles III is welcomed by Alexander (Sandy) Manson, His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, at the gates of Balmoral Castle in Deeside, Scotland. This was on Monday 21st August 2023 as King Charles III arrived for his summer residence.
Present were The Highlanders of 4 SCOTS Pipes and Drums and members of the Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion (5 SCOTS), under the Command of Major Robert Weir. Also present was a favourite of the late Queen, the Shetland pony Corporal Cruachan IV, mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, who received a rub on the nose from the King, who was recently announced as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, succeeding his mother in the role.
This is the first time King Charles has has been officially welcomed to Balmoral by a guard of honour and inspected the troops outside the gates of Balmoral. This is a tradition when the Monach takes up residence at the castle during their summer break. Members of the British Royal are expected to join the King at Balmoral Castle and Estate over the next few weeks.

Beautiful filming thank you for recording and sharing ❣️I have no idea why this made me so emotional , over here in the US. Always loved watching her majesty greet the pony and how much she loved the animals. I think it's really precious that you kept showing the pony. when you look at all the medals there men are wearing it is not just for show, these are hard serving soldiers who have 'been and seen' "as the solder of the Queen" song goes. many a hero among those ranks. and grand to see that Charles finally ask king gets the recognition and honor he deserves.

The new 4 Scots Drum Major less impressive than his two predecessors but his band is still the best army pipe band in the world.

Hello Victoria, the meaning of the British royal banners on the ground has two meanings (although in certain countries this is a sign of disrespect) first a sign of respect for the Monarch in this case Charles III, and the second honors all those who lost their lives in the name of the United Kingdom!
The flag is the one of the regimental flags of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.. This one is the Kings Colour. The other, the Regimental Colour, was not on parade. The Colour is lowered as a salute, in this case a Royal Salute to the Sovereign. Any other dignitary inspecting the Guard of Honour would receive the same salute but known as a General Salute. US armed forces also lower their colors in salute but not all the way down. The National Flag in the US is never lowered to anyone. And quite right too.
