Exploring The Doctrine of Gifts [Foundations #14]

“Gifts”
The gifts of the Spirit are gracious ways that the Holy Spirit outworks through the life of a believer for the building up of the church. God, through the indwelling Holy Spirit in believers, gifts believers in ways that are needed; gifts of speaking & gifts of serving, as gifts to the body of Christ to see the church grow, mature, supplied, & edified.
However God gifts us, there are some core truths we must hold. Gifts are to be exercised humbly under the Kingship of Jesus, trusting in the sovereignty of God to give & use these gifts for his will & purposes, seeing them faithfully embraced & fulfilled within an already spirit-lived life for the love of God & other believers. Spiritual Gifts aren’t our personal superpowers but the way God spiritually empowers his people beyond our human capacity.
This Sunday we’ll unpack what gifts are & what they aren’t, seeking to remove misunderstandings & to encourage us to get excited about what God is doing within his people & how he’s calling us into that through how he's gifting us.
