  • Patrick Kane was asked last week about his future past this season. Following up before the regular season home finale, Kane again reiterated how much he has enjoyed playing for the Red Wings.
    "'Is (Detroit) a possibility? Yeah, absolutely! I mean, of course," he said.

      esp since their puffing up of Raymond w linemates and opportunities (all at Kane's expense) will result in him getting way overpaid as an RFA relative to his actual performance.

    After watching his post-game comments tonight, I think he's gone. He wasn't talking about the team as "we", and he kept referring to his time in Detroit in the past tense. I hope he stays, but now everybody in the league knows he's back, and I don't know if Steve is going to be able to part with what Kane is going to be offered on the open market, after having to sign Seider and Raymond to big contracts.

    At 35? Detroit needs an infusion of size and speed. NHL is bigger/faster than ever, post season won not only on skill but physical battles particularly along the boards in opposing teams end. Kane will want at least 2 yr. deal but at what price? I think Steve will find better value.

    Am I the only one that thinks it won't be a big deal if he leaves? We have a log jam of talented kids waiting to make a name for their selves at a low aav. I'm willing to bet atleast 2 of our prospects would be on a good amount of teams top 6 this year. Our top 6 is jammed up atm so there's no room. I know bringing a guy up like Berggren, Mazur or Kasper only for them to play bottom 6 minutes isn't really beneficial. Anyway, that was just a long winded way to say if he goes, it's not a huge deal like some casuals are making it out to be.

      @thenickfoxx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Doctor_of_Fartiology I think perhaps the other route could be to let Perron go, freeing up a winger spot for one of those kids in the top 6, I'd miss Perron but he'll start to have the Fran Neilsen effect soon enough, that or he takes a 1x1 and plays on the bottom 6. Others in the forward group that are taking up space is Sprong and Czarnik. We could get just as much offense out of Berggren that we get out of Sprong. Atleast Berggren is slightly better defensively.
      Sorry, I just love talking about this team haha.

    • @captbloodbeard
      @captbloodbeard 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thenickfoxx Berggren is definitely better defensively than Sprong, but he's no where near on the same offensive level as Sprong is. At least not by anything I've seen him do, certainly not at the NHL level. Sprong is incredible offensively, but he's such a black hole defensively that you have to be really careful how you use him. That's why he's not paid at the same level as other guys who score like him. I'm fine with Sprong being gone next season, but I don't believe Berggren would replace his offense at all. I also don't know that Steve is planning on keeping Berggren here anyway. Might be best to trade him while his value is higher, than have him up for a full season and show the whole league that he's not a very capable NHLer.

    • @thenickfoxx
      @thenickfoxx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@captbloodbeard I know what type of player Sprong is. I know why he isn't paid as much etc etc. Still, with the 11-7 meta, you dont want to pick a forward that is going to sit on the bench for 54 minutes. That's what the league is going towards more and more each year. Not saying that's every game but, still. Anyways i used Berggren as an example, a cheap example that can be trusted to play closer to 10-12 minutes a night with nearly the same output. I highly doubt he's coming back.
