I had a Greek attacking midfielder with 169 pa. He led Greece to win the World Cup as thier only good player. Ballon d'Or winner, multiple seasons top of the Premier League assists and average ratings charts. Most of the other top players winning awards are in the high 180s.
Obviously high PA is better but so many other factors like stat distribution, team mates, personallity, luck play a large part too.
They are. Stats distribution is more important. Try using GenieScout and you will see CA, PA and also current and potential ability at his best position. Player at 150PA can have much higher compatibility with his best position than a player at 180PA. Simple example... Do you rly need your winger to have 18 heading?

Yeah, if a player is far off their potential ability then making them either footed is sensible
@@deeznoots6241 you can only train weak foot up to reasonable you can't go any higher . so the most it can go is 9-11/20 usually it cuts off at . Either footed can only be generated but cannot be trained similar with anything above reasonable weak foot. that's how the game works
What's more - different available positions eat up CA points. Traits eat up CA points. All those things that the computer does automatically out of boredom will limit the way a player can improve.
I really think this game needs a rework in development, the way the attributes impact a player, the CA/PA system, mentoring etc. Although I doubt one will come for the next 20 years.

@@davidfordham4066 I lived on Reede Road as a kid, less than 5 mins walk from Victoria Road. 20 yrs later I'm in living Ontario, Canada, and there's the Dagger colours. It's a weird thing to see so early in the morning.

the newgen Facepack is an integral part of every FM installment and I simply cannot play without it!
Seca being 198 was expected, that guy had exceptional numbers for attacking mid or playmaker, but was also very good at lots of other things like work rate, jumping reach, shooting etc. which you simple can't do with extremely high CA/PA. So much going on though it is always hard to tell, like positions, either footedness, and traits will take up CA. Then there are CA free attributes, like flair or determination etc. that can make a player look a lot better than his CA. Then of course some attributes are hugely CA hungry like pace and acceleration, but at the same time a very good distribution of attributes for the position/role of the player + things like consistency, big matches, pressure being good can make like a 160 CA player into a complete world beater, especially if they are in a good system, with good morale and good partnerships.
Like for example someone like Ward-Prowse is about a 155-157 CA player, but I've had him consistently been part of title winning and champions league winning teams, of course party because of his set piece ability but also because he is very determined, works very hard, is consistent, has a good personality, has great stamina and natural fitness. Together with solid enough other technical abilities so he will just consistently perform at a high level in a good system and good role, even though he doesn't have that world class currently ability.
I like to sometimes do tests and what I've noticed is that the hidden mentals, together with determination, natural fitness and stamina Are the most important in general, if those stats are high, has decent ability overall, then you always have a good player om your hands no matter the level of football you're playing. And 150-160 players with 15s and 16s in those stats will easily win the CL in a good setup.
But even average players in a league like the 3.liga in Germany, if you have a player with 14s in those stats, and the rest are around 10 to 12 in some stats that are important for his role, CA can be equal to or less than the league, but you'll win it easily. Got dynamo dresden from 3. Liga to bundesliga in 2 seasons doing this, player mentality and fitness seems way more important in the long run than the overall ca, if they can compete that enough, cuz they will compete at their highest level almost every single time.
It is also easier to keep the club happy and motivated this way.

One of my best players was 163 PA winger amidst a squad of 180+. Sometimes it happens. From my experience, with at least 170 PA you can make players as good as those who are 190+ PA.

I'd be fascinated to know if and how they're developing this into FM25. I like that the star ratings can be wrong and that we can't predict how good players will be. A more dynamic potential ability range may end up being the outcome rather than specific numbers.
bought Estêvão for around 80k (literally has the highest potential range in the game alongside lamine yamal) and every scout i've had rated him as 2-3 star potential
How did you get estevao so cheap though? For the star thingy, again they’re not that trustworthy, plus if you’re managing barca, the standard is quite high.
@@Ganganuk Was actually managing Crystal Palace on my 3rd year, and i genuinely cannot tell you how i got him for that cheap LOL. Had to check multiple times if it was the real estevao and it actually was
@@ahmdyt ah, when you mentioned lamine yamal I thought you managed Barca. There can be a lot of factors for this, like your staffs have low judging PA, Estevao got a terrible injury and his development stalled (which would explain his low value), or sometimes it’s just false negatives, etc
Might be fun to deep dive on Fabian and others to run a test on how the various hidden attributes/personalities affect development. My guess is he had low professionalism, which isn't always obvious from an "Unambitious" personality, and probably needed to be cooking in a mentor group instead of being out on loan. Would be interesting to drill into the reason!

What ive noticed in a few of the simulations ive done in this fm is there is a lot more 200pa wonderkids coming in the game.
in my lincoln city save i reviewed it with all the pas and stuff after a decade in game and there were 2 players with 200 pa and they were both 26 which meant they both came in in the same year through the first youth intake. never really seen that in fm before.
I'd maybe argue that this is reflective of what is happening in real youth football. A lot of changes that came about in England after the EPPP scheme were things about not letting parents stop the game being fun, and as a result, more kids who would slip through the cracks have hung around and ended up developing. The problem was not so much about one nation having better potential kids than another, just that some countries like Holland had a much healthier culture that let more kids blossom
The AI struggles very much with making good teams without the best players, leading to the game getting much easier as time goes on, it makes sense that there are better players being thrown around so that big teams like Barca and city don't just have 3 mediocre players in their starting 11 each game, the player is much less susceptible to this as we'll often have high turnover rates

Had a 200 PA player with Determination of 3 and Temperamental personality, at 22 years old he barely developed...
i've been fm'd many times but i gotta say that is some of the worst trolling by fm i've ever heard
I remember one wonderkid who came up through my academy in a save and different coaches said he was best suited for a different position - AML, ML, MC, AMC, DMC, AMR... He ended up primarily being AML and AMC, but his versatilty was so much fun to have in the squad!
That editing and effects in this video are so good. Editors should be working om tv and movies. Damn!
Next time try guessing the PA directly instead of just a ranking and see by how much you were wrong.
So I've done some work with PA and CA and it's my conclusion that 160 is totally fine for a champions league winner, can be starter, but definitely good enough for a backup. Anything below backup for sure. The game doesn't punish you for "lower" ratings. And yes, a 169 can be worth over 100m easy.
For certain roles you can go even lower. I've had a 145 CA striker win consecutive CL scoring awards on FM20. No physical below 15, 18 in jumping, strength and heading. 14 technique and off the ball IIRC. While a lot were from corners he still got plenty of 1 on 1s and general poacher goals. While my brain told me I had to play my 190+ striker and one of my 175+ ones, the big man was probably better than the lot of them in the game despite the numbers.
@@AFant I think you're right in that if the person is suited to the role perfectly, he can be way worse. I think I had a left back at 138 once a couple games ago. And he was very effective. Also good captain. If it's not a very specific role/player combo, 160 up is always good enough.

I love when i have late bloomers and still perform over 7.50 in a champions league win with Porto. Sutalo was 139-163, checked for fun, and overall 7.70 scoring the goal to win the final. End of season... 141-163. Loaned him to Man Utd just for fun to use Thiaw....
zealand , what if you had a team of equal of a mid or low level team CA average ( of the league) but you edit the stats of each player so they're perfect for that position / tactic could you win a league? what about a champions league? like how important is CA really if you BWM or w.e had low CA but 0 useless stats for that position? say 1 finishing but 15-20 work rate, tackling etc
Thing is, a 165 full back is world class, a 165 striker or winger isn't close to world class. Look at the CA & PA of the current players, there's only a hand full of full backs t 170 PA. There are tons of midfielders, centre backs and forwards over 170
Guessing their CA/PA range instead of ordering them by it would be more entertaining.
Also the Dane who didn't develop is probably a late bloomer. I think WTS had one guy who was even labelled as 'late developer'.
I think for the new engine we need a weighted calculation of the CA and PA. There's a lot of difference between a guy who is just better than everybody else physically but mediocre technically and a guy who's above average in both but CA would tell you that both were equally talented.
But that's real life in every sport too
Guys who are more physically gifted than everyone else do not have to be as technically sound to be as good or better. They have talent, its just that the talent is distributed somewhere else

Players potential may not be important if consistency, important matches and pressure-hidden ratings are low. This can affect player performance

This is basically how I ruined my save. 6 seasons deep with Sunderland just starting to get into the champions league spots and I find a gem from Uzbekistan 18 year old with insane stats, instant starter, but my scouts hate him once he arrives. Curiosity got the better of me and got the editor to check his potential…. He’s currently hit it, at 18. Current and potentially ability 140. Next thing I know I’m checking my other signings current and potential and all the shortlist and next thing you know I’ve ruined my save knowing exactly who’s good and who’s not. DONT DO THIS GUYS
I've played several saves with a squad view that shows CA and PA and mentals and I have to say, you can definitely win the prem with a squad averaging about 140-145 CA as long as you are good at the rest of the game. It does help if you have a couple players closer to 160 but I won with Blackburn 1st season up after overhauling the squad with guys around the 135-145 mark. I find that past the 160 CA mark, a 160 player played in the correct role can be just as effective as a player rated 180+.
I wish Zealand would stop making nontent.

Physicals aren’t underrated in the ability score. In fact, pace and acceleration are two of the most “expensive” attributes when it comes to calculating ability. Agility and balance are probably less influential than those, but with 16 acceleration and 15 pace, I’m not surprised at how low his rating was.
Underrated in the sense of how important they are in the match engine. Finishing is as expensive in CA for attacking players but not nearly as impactful. In fact it is so expensive for such little impact I consider it an active detriment, I have had several players with 8 and lower finishing significantly outscoring their xG over multiple seasons.
Play a game with two friends in the weekends: I’m nowhere and miss on most of my transfers, one of my friends turn his team into the modern galacticos, second friend: I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right ones. He won EL 3 times in 5 seasons as Sedan, only one player over 155 potential… just how???
A scout once recommended me a random french kid from some lower division side in france. I was managing Boardeux in fm19, very good save that was. So anyways for like 14k i got this kid and i saw he had high star rating for his potential, but imagine the shock on my face when i went into the editor and saw he had 197 potential.
I'm surprised you haven't done this more, I always enjoyed doing this on my old saves when I start playing another FM release.
In my case my feel for where my team is: Is mostly not that good (nor bad) with one or two absolute bangers. :P
Rather than ranking them, could you put them in tier list style buckets? Maybe gaps of 5 at the top and 10 lower down)
There are a lot of ties and really close ones where you think you missed by a lot, but you really didn’t.

Dont feel bad about Cekici. Yeremy Pino is someone I always buy and he has 171 PA but he leads in assists every year and the numbers he puts up are insane. This year I got 34 assists from him so far.
Not sure how to feel about the fact that Zealand plays Excel : The Game for a living but doesn't use Excel for something like this.

What filter should i use to be able to see current and potential abilities in game?
Speaking as a guy who played a version of FM with the help of the editor (not to edit anything but to see the CA/PA in relation with the star rating and the way they perform on the pitch) 190+ is Messi/Ronaldo levels. They are not that common and with the ability to see CA/PA, I still was able only to buy 1 in my team. 2nd of all, just because he has that potential, he's not necessarily going to make it (just look at your 180 PA unambitious wonderkid...) 170+ is Champions League winning capability first 11 level. 150+ is Europa league. If you have a team that's capable to make it past the groups, of champions league, but not yet winning you probably have a mix of 150+ and not enough 170+ so maybe 1/2 more 170+ players and you should be making it to the final.
And yes, the stars aren't always right but they are a fair indicator usually. Also, you can have 170 PA and CA players with very consistent rating that are just dog shit no matter where or in what roll you play them... there are also cases of 2.5-3* players with fairly inconsistent rating (didn't have the editor in this save so no CA/PA sadly...), and he is just your MVP head and shoulders above anyone else for 3 straight seasons....
Also, yeah, I just disregard unambitious or other bad personalities players. I saw too many cases of 160+ PA but unambitious so they usually don't get anywhere near that PA.
So the conclusion is to take everything with a bit of salt... Yes, stars can be wrong, scouts can be wrong but CA/PA is not everything. In the right circumstances they can work in your team, but also in the right circumstances Messi like players can be absolute dog shit for you... Just like in real life I guess, look at Jadon Sancho, brilliant at Dortmund, sold to United for 85M and played meh for 2 years, loaned back to Dortmund and he was brilliant again... 😅
I think this version is different. I got 2 players of 200 PA (year 2033), one is 23yo with 180 CA and other one is 17yo like 150+. But I also got 2 guys of 195 PA, and some 190 PA. But in terms of CA, my RB is 188 and CB 191, but another one is only 177, and my main guy of 250mil is only 178. Either I got insanely lucky or FM 24 just has more of these guys with higher PA. -- Funny thing is I actually didnt know that 23yo has it, so probably he wont reach it. Only opened up after I got him on 5 years contract recently. --- I dont use any editors, only abused all scouting methods from SYC video.
