Simply gorgeous, i agree with you on multi cylinder engines, OS makes look more like full size aircraft engines (as far as i know Saito only made 2 engines with similar configuration FA60T & FA90TS)
I think the Brian Winch video talking about the rods was concerning converting it to run on petrol with the aluminum rods. On glow should be no problem.
I am unaware of a 180° V twin engine. Only the Saito 270T, 300T, 60T, and 90T engines were boxer style. The others were 180° horizontally opposed odd fire engines. Saito did produce two in-line V-twin engines. They were the FA-100Ti and FA-200Ti, also both featured on my channel.
@@dmrcflyr2 "The others were 180° horizontally opposed odd fire engines." .. that's what I actually meant by "180° V engine". Maybe a language thing, because that's what we call them in German. Technical terms often do not translate 100% literally.
I have owned a Laser engine and quite honestly the castings can't hold a candle to OS engines. In fact they can't even be in the same conversation as OS, IMO.
@@harveynewman4333 You guys have some strange opinions....the Lasers are machined from solid bar stock with the only castings being proprietary carburettor bodies
They would be bronze not brass. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I think the fellow in that video was mistaking an early FT-240 for an FT-300 when talking about the connecting rods. The FT-240 came out before the 300 and OS would have remedied the issue on the 240 or at least before the 300 came out. That is my take on it anyway since I can find ZERO other threads or RC forums or videos claiming the FT-300 ever had an issue.
No you cannot. All you see is the rear bearing and timing gear. I have numerous OS twin cylinder engines showing the rear cover removed. th-cam.com/video/yReChMTDnuQ/w-d-xo.html
Here is the video that I referred to in the video regarding the connecting rods. th-cam.com/video/SvEi0Pdh0i0/w-d-xo.html I just heard from the owner of this beautiful engine and i will only be running it to break it in. I can't wait!!!!
Very nice engine for sure, and I'm like you,no need to mess with taking it apart, just run it in for the guy!
Opening up a brand new masterpiece of an O.S. Twin will let in evil demons and defile its operation I tells ya!

they look like air craft engines also, like the os twins. I like the saito fa60t out of all the saitos, better than the fa90ts.
FA60T maybe the best looking and sounding SAITO twin engine.

WOW, just wow, so beautiful.
Also many of the Saitos are 180° V-engines, not boxers IIRC?

I see. Here a V twin is less than 180 degrees. Typically a V is 45-90 degrees. 180 degrees is a flat twin.
Have you seen the build quality from the Laser Engines built in the UK ? Second to none!

Serial number in mine are 2419...would it have brass connecting roads?? LOVE THE WORDS EYE CANDY!!!!

Cool engine
Can you not pull the backplate to see the rods?
Thats what I was wondering. I wouldnt want to disassemble a new enging if nothing was wrong with it.

I believe you :-) just a thought. I'm looking forward to seeing you tear into that pristine engine anyway.
I wish it was that easy, as I really don't want to open this beauty.
Run it and let it sing.

Fire that puppy up we want to see you break it in
If it aint broke, don’t fix it...
