  • Clay gives a head to head comparison of the Loupedeck Live compared to the Elgato Streamdeck. He talks through the best use case for each device as well as their respective pros and cons vs the Loupedeck+, Loupedeck CT and other Stream Deck alternatives. He walks through Stream Deck Setup as well as Loupedeck Live setup and compares how easy each one is (and is not).

    If you’re a Mac user, and combine Stream Deck with Keyboard Maestro, you have way more functionality. You can make your computer do almost anything. Plus you can change icons on the fly based on what is happening. Loupdeck has the knobs which are compelling, but I think a QMK- compatible macro pad with knobs and a slider would make the Stream Deck compete there.
    I find Stream Decks profiles powerful enough for me. I have more than a hundred keys programmed for Chrome alone. And I’m adding more keys for Photoshop and Lightroom every day.

    I just ordered a loupedeck and now I’m wondering if I got the right thing. Seems streamdeck was designed from the start for streamers and “non-professionals”-which actually is a plus. The Loupedeck has a pro-legacy and seems like the R&D is slowly shedding that legacy and UI complexity.

      @@roman2374 I agree, but htere is a point to Loupedeck's touch screen. You can swipe like on your iPhone, making it a quick, easy and noiceless expansion of your buttons. The tactile feedback is horrible and would need feedback and felling much more like a Macintosh trackpad.

    Nobody that's doing these tutorials, that I've found, actually explains how to create buttons for applications that are not yet in the StreamDeck or The Loopdeck. Making a button with a link to a web page doesn't count. What about controlling the volume in my Apollo Console software? How do you do that in either one? I currently have the StreamDeck XL & from every tutorial I've seen NOBODY shows how to create a control for a product that's not already programmed into the SD. (with the exception of creating a link to a web page - which hardly qualifies) Does anyone know where someone demonstrates how to control an application that's not profiled in SD or LD?

    • @DPCTechnology
      @DPCTechnology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a lot of plugins for both consoles. The stream deck certainly has more (hundreds). I would look in the forums in Facebook and Reddit to see if a developer has a plugin for ur particular ap.

    • @SeanWyseman
      @SeanWyseman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DPCTechnology I already spent about two weeks doing exactly that. There's only ONE Streamdeck FB group & all 7 that responded were curse filled personal attacks for being a dumbass.
      Unlike you they all told me that what the support people at streamdeck said was false. However based on their unwelcoming & unkind responses I choose to believe that the guy at streamdeck told me the truth because not one of them could explain that you have to find someone that's got the programming kit who has also learned how to use it.
      In previous days when I was into programming & software development I would have done that. But I'm trying to better automate a studio & don't have the time to invest in learning another programming language only to make a few buttons.
      I sent the streamdeck back because IMO it's an inferior product. They could have combined a marco recorder, or licensed one that's already out there so that end users could create their own macros like most software, & all windows software, is able to do. But, being an inferior product, they didn't include the obvious part that would have made this product do what people think it can.
      I tried out some of the stuff that users had created & they were all buggy I most buttons would not do what they were programmed to do - so IMO it's stupid to waste all that time trying junk out that promised but didn't deliver. The bottom line is DON'T BUY A STREAMDECK UNLESS YOU CAN FIND THE PLUGIN THAT CONTROLS IT or UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME LEARNING TO PROGRAM IT!
      I sent it back. Not the right product for me for sure. The very fact that no OS developer has had the sense to make an API or other application that allows remote control of those OS's. They are so far behind the times that, even though we need better controllers, those manufacturing OS's have intentionally made them impossible to control except through mouse & keyboard commands or use a shitty macro system that was never designed to do the job that's actually needed.
