Good review. I have been using Foxelli carbon poles for years and only broken a tip off once when it got stuck in a crack. Customer service has been great too. After your review I see no reason to switch. Thanks.
Thanks for the thorough review. I concur about the vibration of the Cascade Mountain Tech poles. I was excited to try them out. Very quickly I noticed they vibrated much more than my other poles during use. For me, this was a deal breaker. I just returned mine yesterday.
Yeah I understand. My very first poles were Bass Pro Shop (overpriced) Acadias and the vibration bothered me too. I've heard people complain about black diamonds doing that too, so part of it is just the way poles are made I guess but there are definitely some that are worse than others.
Just ordered my first set from Costco. Major life style change for sure -- thus far I was getting by finding a good thick stick just before I start and then carefully hiding it after use so I can find them the next time for reuse.
I hear you! If you want good poles but want them to last I'd go with the aluminum. I had a discount code on my "channelversary" giveaway video, see if it works!
I am really looking into the Cascade Mountain poles. The aluminum cork version goes for $29.99 on Amazon which is nice. The carbon ones as said in the video do break. The carbon ones appear to just snap. My only issue with cascade is replacement parts. They sell them on their website but always seem to be out of stock on almost everything. I’m not sure about foxelli but I’ll take them into consideration. Thanks for the great video👍🏻
Foxelli has always been good for me. I don't take it easy on my carbon poles and haven't broken them yet haha. :) You won't go too far wrong either way.
Went from REI aluminum tanks to Cascade carbon. Hope the carbon holds up because they are awesome in every other way so far. Thanks for the insight on Foxelli!
Silly me, I'm still using my 40 year old Leki Super Makalm aluminum poles with rubber handles and twist lock. They weigh 10 1/2 oz. This is when Leki poles were still made in Germany.
I didn't know they made trekking poles back then. Those crafty Germans. ;) That's awesome, Leki is one brand that I have never got to try out. But everyone who has them says they're excellent.
I did not think I would like them because I typically don't like to have stuff in my hands when I'm hiking but they are amazing for uphill downhill... Game changer for me.
Great review Doug. I loved the comparison from top to bottom. Well done. Crow✌️
Thanks Crow! I hope this will help when people ask about budget poles.

They're great and any pole can be broken!

I bought the foxelli via your recommendation and I am not disappointed! Ty
Good to hear!!!
Ya these poles are the best bang for your buck!
I like 'em!

They're a whole different kind of gear!
Just bought mine from Costco yesterday….carbon ones
Thank you for your review...I am in the market for a set and your information is very helpful, especially where budget is one of the main criteria...

Carbon is sure nice for weight! May they do you well!
Great honest review.l! I am pretty tough on my poles so I think I will stay with aluminum.
I've yet to break my carbons but I havent levered them too bad yet so we'll see!

@@BackcountryPilgrim I think Leki was the original makers of trekking poles. When I bought mine, I don't remember any other brands.
Makes sense!
You did not talk about length slip... do they both hold their length for long hard hikes?
I have not had issues with either one, but I mostly use Foxelli's.
Great video, thanks.
You bet, thanks for watching!
Can either gets parts replaced? Like new carbide tips?
Yup!
My Foxelli carbon fiber trekking poles were only $56.97, not $69.97.
Awesome! I usually quote retail but sometimes things change.
Спасибо. Я сейчас выбирают из этих 2 моделей.
Foxelli definitely wins for me, but they're both good. :)
I've never used poles...
