  • In this call, Julie won $1.5 million! And the lottery she won it from was the Better Business Bureau??
Sorry about the sound quality in this one. Even turned all the way up, we could barely hear him.
As always, let us know if you get any scam calls, texts or emails. Report scams to our BBB Scam Tracker here: www.bbb.org/sc...

Hi Julie, As a 77 year old I just got another one of those "hi grandpa" calls from a poor young man who just got out of the hospital. Considering I never had children I was skeptical that I was his grandfather. I went along with him for a few minutes, reflecting how sorry I was for his difficult situation. I tried to follow your lead as much as possible. However, after about three minutes I asked him if I could ask him a question. He agreed. I, as sympathetically as possible, told him that I was having a difficult time paying my rent. And, as a young man, I needed him to help his sick, old grandfather with a donation. Julie, the line went dead. Should I contact the phone company and report an outage? Seriously, thank you for your guidance on issues like this. Your help is appreciated. Signed, not a grandfather.

The BBB has turned into a punchline. Scammers seem to think it's an organization that is held in high esteem by the American public, but, honestly, I don't know anyone who has any faith is the BBB's mission. I've been told by more than one merchant that if they pay X dollars, they'll be given a good rating by the BBB.

So I have been getting calls from car warranty scammers (I haven't had a car since 1986..I live in NYC haven't needed one), real estate scams from people claiming to work for Trulia & then Zillow, both from the same number which shows up on my caller ID as just Babylon, NY, asking if I'm still interested in the property in New Jersey (mind you I did recently buy a condo on L.I. but didn't use either of those companies) but was NEVER interested in anything in Jersey, & Medicare insurance scams. Still waiting for that SSA call though. BTW..the colors of your top are very flattering on you. Missed you.

Speaking of wire transfers.....the one time I got scammed ( back in the 1990s )....I received an EMERGENCY phone call from an old acquaintance, who told me her car had broken down in the Mojave desert. She was supposedly traveling with her young child & needed money for a brake job or something. I had met her years earlier, and she was a close friend of my sister's. When i knew her, she was a recently & honorably discharged vet. I told her I could only afford to send $100....& she requested I do it thru Western Union. When I called THEM to see if she had received the $$$.....they told me YES. However....it was picked up back east in Alabama or Arkansas.......and NOT in the Mojave desert. This is when i learned that no matter where they claim the Western Union office they want it sent to is.....they can pick it up at ANY WU office. Turns out this gal had become a heroin addict or something, and was contacting everyone she had old contact info for.....and milking them for cash with the same story. Old friends, relatives, etc. She was eventually arrested, but not before getting around $2500 out of a bunch of different people. Heard she even did that to her own grandmother.

Hi Sweetheart....JK Hi Julie, it’s your neighbor Mark from Michigan. Thank you for doing another video to make people aware. I actually was writing a long and helpful message on here to explain about seeing red flags from these callers but all of a sudden my phone went dead and I lost it all😥😥
    For your viewers:
The short version is if you get a call like this do EXACTLY what Julie said and JUST HANG UP!! I’m a scam baiter and there is a large community of us who look for scams and go after the scammers to waste their time so they are not on a call with someone else who MIGHT just believe them. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME unless you know what a VM is, what a VOIP does and what auto dialing apps are used for. If you should find yourself involved in a call because these (bottom of the barrel feeders) scammers can be very convincing. They like to pray on the elderly/disabled first (disgusting), young innocent victims, people of all ages who are not tech savvy and anyone else who has money....even $100 dollars. First use your common sense, if something sounds too good to be true it probably is!! Look for red flags in their script, all these scammers use a script. On this message I don’t want to get into too much detail about accents and knowing by their accents where they are calling from. If you don’t KUST HANG UP, then DO NOT give them ANY ACCESS to your computer. DO NOT EVER give them your Social Security number, DO NOT EVER give them a credit card number. If you do listen to them talk 99% will have problems with the English language, what they are reading (The Script) WILL NOT MAKE SENSE!!! 99% of the time they will start by acting like your best friend, depending on the script they will OFTEN use scare tactics....DO NOT believe them!! If you listen and it was hard to hear him, but what he was saying didn’t make ANY SENSE!!! There are many, many scams that we know about and we are trying to disarm these people as much as we can. I don’t want to say too much on here of what and how we do things because believe it or not the scammers come on TH-cam and read what we write and what videos we post. I don’t post videos because they can track me better with that. But a lot of TH-camrs do post and you really need to check them out. Some are funny, some are mean, some are disgusting and some have sad stories of people who have actually been scammed. We try VERY HARD to help people who have been scammed in many different ways. But believe it or not as one victim told us, he felt like he was raped. He didn’t want to tell anybody what happened to him, it was very sad😥 I can see/understand why they don’t want to come forward, they feel stupid. They are not stupid and we ask to please let us know if and how you were scammed. It is tough to admit, but there are a lot of use who will help👍😊
I’m not going to get into it in this message why the government doesn’t do anything, this is long enough.
Viewers PLEASE JUST HANG UP if you get a call, if you feel the need to listen, use COMMON SENSE, these scripts will NEVER, EVER make sense....NEVER!!!
Julie, if you would like to talk more or discuss how we can help more please let me know. You can email if you want, it’s bo49684@yahoo.com
Thank you for all your help and support with this matter. Do not stop making these videos. I can help with scam numbers and other information. Take care and stay safe!😊👍

We have had similar scams local to me using games vouchers, and local police worked with the retailers to ensure that they were trained to watch out for possible victims .
Walmart staff should have the same scam awareness training . I wonder if they have been trained ?

Nice job Julie! I don't live in Wisconsin but I do live in SC. The most recent scammer to call me spoofed a Time Warner/Spectrum phone number. They were calling to "save me some money". I was told I would keep the phone and internet but simply had to switch my cable over. They were working with Direct TV and I would need to switch to satellite for the "savings". I might be old but I still have all of my faculties and the only reason I answered the phone to begin with is because the caller ID showed Time Warner/Spectrum. I (obviously) hung up and called Spectrum to let them know about this scam. And honestly they didn't seem too concerned but did say they were not working in conjunction with anybody else. (I already knew they wouldn't recommend their customers to switch to satlellite.) So all I did was set up a pin with them so that nobody can call to change my service without that pin. (By the way, I did not call the phone number that showed on my caller ID, I actually called the number that appears on my bill. The number on the caller ID was the number used when they were Time Warner.)

My aunt lost 6000 to a--holes like this over a period of months. Said she was eligible for a prize but had to keep paying shipping/processing fees. The only reason she stopped is because someone at the Western Union office told her the address was some random place in Israel and it was a scam.

I told one scammer:" You must have not listened properly in primary school whilst learning the Queen's English."
He got really angry with me. He called for a year and a half backing off for a while and then charging back. He gave up when I refused to engage, although one time I listened to him and he asked me nicely to "wish him well on his endeavors" (At one point in our interactions I told him I was going to put a curse on him if he didn't stop calling and it must have worked.)
The worst are Medicaid scammers. The one's who don't scam you personally but sell you something you don't need, some kind of brace, and then bill Medicare for way more than the item is worth. Really aggressive men. One yelling. "I am marking you down for receiving the brace..." before I hung up. Thankfully, I never got the brace but actually had to change phone numbers. Now, I just ignore or hang up on numbers I don't know.
