Wowwwwww this is mind blowing!!! As a new Catholic and as a student in general, I never deeply looked into the crusades (and yes it’s been something thrown in my face as I’ve been converting to Catholicism) you have a true gift for reaching history!! God bless. I watch many of your videos so I can learn and prepare for when others want to debate with me.

Better look into it a little bit deeper. The blood of masses of people, Muslim, Christian, and whatever stains the Catholic Church and the Roman Popes. They are very good at dissemination and obfuscation, believe them at your peril!

But after several decades of living a very evil life I was given a miraculous chance by the ever so merciful Holy Trinity to be led back to the Traditional Latin Mass which I was brought in,and was guided by some ever so powerful force to get hold of numerous books on the Traditional Church Teachings. I encourage you Mr,Mercer to continue your ever so important works for the glory of the most Holy Trinity and the One Holy Apostolic Catholic Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ ,Amen Dominus vobiscum Deo Gratis

This is exactly why there are thousands of different religions out there. So many people don't know the true historical facts and yet are ready to argue without knowing their history. The Catholic Church is the One and Only True Church created by Jesus Christ. Only the Catholic Church's history dates all the way back to Jesus's time and his apostles and disciples. The Great Siege of Malta where The Knights Hospitaller and other Catholic men 7,000 in number holding their ground as the Ottoman Turks wanted to take over Malta in order to take over Rome. Jean Parisot the commander of the 7,000 went to a Blacksmith and had a rosary put on the sword. They were able to hold off the 30,000 Ottoman Turks from taking over Malta and then Rome thanks to the grace of God and Mother Mary. -Referencing Father Donald Calloway's Talk in Idaho 2019. We're Catholic today because of our rich history with Jesus and because Jesus didn't want any other religion to take his people over. And that's just one example! Thank you Bryan for another wonderful video!

About the crusades, my high nobility family was involved and contributed to the crusades. At this time, based in Venice under the Venetian Kingdom/realm. I am sure the Pope must likely utilized historical evidence from St. Augustine's era, concerning the sacking of Rome by a barbarian force lead by Alaric (410 A.D.), from an early form of 'Just War' doctrine. It derived from Augustine's viewpoint.

As both a Latin Rite( Roman) Catholic , and, Prior Service United States Marine Corps ( USMC) and United States Army ( US Army), I have NEVER, EVER , had a problem with Piety and Patriotism. I NEVER, EVER, had an issue with being a Christian of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church ( both Latin ( Roman) and Oriental ( Eastern) Rites). “Commodore” Alexius?! What does this even mean? The Alexius here being referred to is Alexius I Comnenus, the Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire (1081-1118). Prior to his accession to the Imperial throne of Byzantium he had briefly been a military commander, but “commodore”? - that is something altogether different...and even if this could be put down as a recurring slip, why refer to him as such when during the time of the First Crusade (1096-1099) he was already Emperor? This is just a minute sample of the striking historical inaccuracies and patent falsehoods with which this video is replete. The arguments presented simply do not hold up to even a basic understanding of the historical period in question. The chief motives for the Crusades were purely political, strategic, and economic. The religious fervour was only incidental - a convenient ideological pretext for the Roman Church to increase its wealth and to expand its power and influence eastwards at the expense of the “Schismatic” Eastern Roman Empire, and to check the rising power of the Seljuk Turks (who had occupied the Holy Land following their momentous victory over the Byzantine forces at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071).The call for a Crusade by Pope Urban II at Clermont (1095) was met with enthusiastic popular support among all classes in Catholic Europe, but was also a means by which many of the dispossessed and greedy Western robber barons, knights, and soldiers of fortune sought to gain lands in the rich East, and to carry on doing what they had always done best: plunder, rape, and kill - but this time, “in Nomine Christi” and with the full blessing of the Holy Father; because, you know...”Deus vult”...

I totally agree that nowadays people often take the crusades a bit out of context in order to make the church sound bad. But justifying it and claiming it was defensive is just not accurate. The Muslim world was very divided at the time. By the 1090’s the threat of Muslims expanding into Western Europe was long gone. And Christian pilgrims were allowed to come and go as they wanted. Nobody was keeping Christian’s from making their pilgrimage. But at least in the first crusade they killed just as many Christians than anyone else. Regularly ransacking christian cities. They even destroyed the Byzantine empire completely during the fourth crusade. Almost all of the crusades, even the successful ones, were a damn disaster. But that doesn’t say anything about the church today. Using religion to justify invading others was common for the time. But saying they were good or justified simply because your catholic and they make the church look bad doesn’t help anything

So, stick to what you're doing.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial Too true, Bryan! It's like the house is on fire, and many clergy are "ho hum" - what a lovely day la dee da whereas I'm wondering, if shepherds really love their flock, they'll sound the alarm to get out of Hell (mortal sins, heretical lies and errors, etc.). I've been utterly perplexed for years even while storming heaven with countless prayers and mortifications. I know of a priest who was sent literally to the country because he spoke the truth about contraception and other foreign priests who've been silenced for their orthodox preaching. Suddenly they become needed in their home country. What a mystery? ;). Your YT channel offers some relief like water in a desert, but my heart goes out to the morally ignorant young Catholics who unwittingly contract immoral vices, feel guilty, can't face their guilt, and the quit the church with the many fallacious excuses underwrite they hide. As a result, there are scores of baptised pagans who become the devil's agents and often our opponents - so often due to cowardly shepherds. Trust me, I could go on. Thanks very much.

Witch is correct. Most Christians up to that point were a product of hard missionary work,...
The few exceptions you have are, firstly just exceptions, and secondly mostly done by leaders who acted on own authority and not that of the church
So yes, in that light, it is true what he says,...
