  • This Día de la Madre, we're honoring someone in our own familia. If you've enjoyed any of our recent recipes, or gotten a kind, thoughtful response in the DMs or comments, you know Community Manager Miguel. He was raised by a single mom, Patricia, whom he credits with his work ethic and a treasure trove of recipes dating back to Patricia's grandmother, who immigrated from Guadalajara to Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood in the early 70s. As a child, Miguel remembers watching Patricia as she patted fresh masa from the local tortillería by hand for quesadillas, sopes, and more. He'd wake on the weekend to the scent of tortillas frying for chilaquiles, or of chiles being toasted for her signature salsa for enchiladas.
We're so grateful to Miguel and Patricia for sharing their family recipes. To all the mamás out there who uphold our traditions and pass on the flavors that live in our memories and on our tables - gracias por tanto.
