- Indonesia is battling a surge in major forest fires this year - and locals are ill-equipped with their buckets and DIY tools. Even though some parts of Indonesia have been battling land and forest fires for years, which have often caused transboundary haze to neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia, there have been no major fires in the last four years.

when asked the Indonesian minister they said the forest in Indonesia is fine and there are no fires.. the neighbors just make reckless accusations🤣🤣
I heard that somewhere, too. Forgot the source.
The other answer was: Ordinary natural fire in dry forest areas.
Because they are all corrupted officials
Liars never feel shameful to tell lies
That is why this haze will never be solved
Must give them face lah. Indonesians are very sensitive. Cannot confront them head on or accuse. Megaphone diplomacy doesn't work. Quietly sit down and drink kopi luwak and then say "by the way, there are some fires here and there, do you need any help?" Respect. Adek must respect Abang. Vivian Balakrishnan, Kishore Mahbubani and Tommy Koh are masters in this art of diplomacy.
Government should hold land owners responsible and impose heavy fines or jail terms. Millions of people's health including neighbouring countries are affected. Cant believe they cant sort this problem for the after all these years. It's truly an embarrassment for the Indonesian government.
Do you understand natural seasonal disaster? Most of these forest are without owner. Indonesia is not tiny like Singapore where every land has owner. Singaporean should go out their little dot and get educated about real problem in real countries. lol.
You do know it is EASIER to hold smokers producing second hand smoke on DAILY and even HOURLY basis to kill people responsible, especially in Singapore.
If you can't do that, you expect Indonesia to do that???
Those farmers also have their RIGHTs to enjoy their lands, and the NECESSITIES to burn their lands to grow more for survival.
So with those bird brains in charge, how can we expect Indonesia to do anything when Singapore can't even do the right thing itself?
Double standard?
You do know second hand smoke haze is many times more dangerous than those haze from Singapore?
@@jamess5084it’s by no means natural. We’re not talking about Australia here. More than 99% of the time the fires are lit deliberately and illegally as big corporations engage in unethical and unsustainable business practices to chase profits. In open defiance of Indonesian environmental laws. And ordinary Indonesians who may be living rurally and who may not be enjoying the same level of healthcare as those in Jakarta or Singapore, suffer because of it
@@spdfatomicstructure do your research and read indonesian news sources as well, not just singapore or malaysian. you are not getting the full information. do you think the indonesian government is that stupid and let the companies do it again and again. one thing I can tell you though, it is not high in the agenda of the indonesian government. it is not even in the newspaper or news site. even jokowi said it is not a big issue as compared to 2015, and the authorities is doing much better this time. they are fighting the fire, and they are not responsible for the wind direction. so singapore or malaysia can wait for the wind to change, or they can send people to solve the problem, coz it is not a priority for indonesia.
@@jamess5084 we’re perfectly happy to send people over to render assistance but that’s only if the government in Jakarta gives the green light. And fighting this season’s fires won’t be enough. After the current crisis more needs to be done to definitively address this problem at its source and prevent any future recurrences. It should be a priority because many of those affected by the haze are ordinary Indonesians who are living rurally and therefore may not have the same level of access to good healthcare as someone in, say, Palembang or Jakarta. The long-term effects on heart and lung health are not to be underestimated
1. from today till sunday 2. 65 degrees air conditioning 3 from 10am-10:30pm
declare the act of man made forest fire as manslaughter and then life imprisonment.
Declare that second hand smoke man-made by smokers as manslaughter and then life imprisonment.
Actually, in existing laws, anything that kills or bodily harmed others is already arrestable offence. Such laws are also used to deal with smokers.
So... ... which is easier to do? If Singapore government doesn't even handle itself, we cannot kpkb Indonesia because second hand smoke is more dangerous than this haze, and this haze is seasonal, not like an addict producing one daily and hourly... ....
Corruption is the cause. We in Malaysia have suffered a lot for many years. Not actions was taken and Indonesia even denied it. What a shameful irresponsible Govt.
The same lah. Malaysia says it has solved the legendary Causeway jam problem in Johore. Singapore is the cause of the jam. But satellite images and images from HDB flats in Woodland show the jam starts from Johore tailback all the way to Woodlands.
@@westwoodlyMalaysia never says Singapore is the cause for trafiic jam
Why on earth both countries are building RTS?
@@shamshulanuar7718 Anwar is not a Malaysian? Is he a Singaporean?
To be frank, before any our haze cross the straits people in, say, riau suffers first from the haze. I'm sorry that this keeps happening, and yes our govt is pretty irresponsible on this issue. Jakarta pretty much doesn't care.
@@cel2460 they should start caring. The people most affected by it are those living rurally, who may not be having the same level of healthcare access as someone in places like Palembang and Jakarta. The long-term effects on heart and lung health cannot be underestimated
International must sue this country
And still their government says that the haze in Malaysia and Singapore are not from Indonesia. Hello we live in 2023 there are satellite images. 😏
Can't see the fire lah. Haze too thick how to see?. May be the forest fires are in Malaysia?
@@westwoodly Maybe it's from Antarctica.
I think Indonesia is being defensive here.
The fire is here in Indonesia but the haze may come from malaysia😂😂😂
haze again ??? haizzzzzzzzzzz. singapore, malaysia, and indonesia themselves will suffer badly
It keeps happening every year. It really posed heath problems to neighbouring countries.
Second hand smoke is even MORE dangerous, and when have our OWN PAP WHITE super CAPABLE government of LEADERs banned smoking totally or let the police arrest smoker with EXISTING laws which EXIST, and are used by other states to deal with those bl00dy smokers?
As if our lawyers or prosecutors are from third world Indian states like that not knowing of the existing laws... ...
If this haze is posing health problems, then SECOND HAND SMOKE is WORSE. MUCH MUCH worse.
Cos also haze is seasonal, but second hand smoke from smokers are ALWAYs there as long as some jokers got addicted.
Thank you for knowing this is a health problem. Now come to Taman Jurong to tell those hooligans in my neighborhood that.
I would suggest that the fire & the forestry departments have to work together to solve these issues mainly in Sumatra, Kalimantan and part of Java by using their own helicopter fleets if they have one or use UAS/UAV for patrols, surveillance with scheduled monitoring with alternating teams from both the agencies supported by the police & the military/air force too with the assets.
Plantation corporations too should set up their own fire department since it's a threat near to their property with the potential of harming innocent lives.
Operations for cloud seeding, making heavy rain 🌧️☔ should also be carried out particularly in those areas of frequent fire occurrences like the peat lands.
We miss. Covid lockdown time when there is no forest fire
Goes to show this forest fire is man made.
@@riezexeero7392 All of them are..A very few are caused by lightning, even fewer by combustion due to decomposition of undergrowth..

Due to the effect of this, some parts now in Philippines experience haze coming from smoke of forest fire
Im from Cebu City and we are adviced to wear mask starting today because of the smoke here
Also in some province of Philippines
Feels deja vu way back 2019
Not to worry lah. God is merciful. Big typhoon brewing in the east will blow the haze away soon.
Sadly, MOST masks don't filter out the pm2.5s which are the real problem.
In any case... ... I have to live in the second hand smoke haze which is more dangerous with my boy and people are only about the stupid haze at seasons, and ignore the second hand smoke haze from those addicted garbage.
So I am praying that the psi from the haze can hit 500... ... those old zombies at the top should have a taste of haze to make things fair. Especially those in the police force.
You have existing laws, you police won't move, as if I own the forensic labs and equipment and am paid to catch the perpetuators.
This talking haze is super hypocritical when you have daily issues of big time lethal second hand smoke at home. You have to the power in your own government to deal with a more dangerous haze, and you have the thick skin to go after other government whose haze is because poor farmers need to clear lands at lower costs... ... since higher costs means less farmers less food and higher price which you will still complain.
You can deal with more dangerous haze you don't do, but you kpkb about other government's. Ridiculous.
BERITA INI TIDAK ADA HUBUNGANNYA DENGAN NEGARA KAMU
The haze saga lagi Season 10.
Malaysia : Hey Abang! Boleh tahan itu haze ka??
Indonesia: Hey Adek, Bukan aku lah! Bukan aku.
Indo Environment Minister : Mana ada api? Aku tak nampak . Manyak haze.
Singapore : (Quiet diplomacy. Otherwise scolded for being tizzy.) Let data speak : Satellite images show 100,001 hot spots in Central and East Java; Central, North, South, East and West Kalimantan, South and Central Sumatra. Singapore politely states it is ready to help when needed.
Have no responsibility from the government (ministry)???😇😇😇
Too huge land and forest, Difficult to handle the problem. Big also has its problems.
Why don't they make a law stating that no plantation can be cleared by fire. The owner of any plantation land cleared by fire must be fined an amount equivalent or more than the cost of putting out fires in the surrounding areas. Moreover, impose a ten year prohibition on growing crops on land cleared by fire. Liability should be presumed if fire breaks out on their land so they are obligated to guard it from fire even though they allege they didn't start it.
This is not only plantation fire but peat swarm fire. Indonesia facing drought this season in part of their island. Sometimes fire stated by villagers burning off forest for agriculture.
@@hawaandroid2786 not sometimes. the fire chief said 99% of the time the fires are 'man made'
Indonesia got laws meh?
Surely there are proper laws in place for a country of 273.8 million people and hundreds of law-makers. It's probably the lack of proper enforcement and people's attitude. Sadly, the population suffers as a whole.
@@westwoodly that is why i suggested presumption of liability. you don't have to catch them in the act. if the fire breaks out in your land, that's it. you are legally responsible and liable, no matter who set the fire. the only way you can escape from this is probably corruption.

You can say annually.

every year.. sir
Oh...it is yearly affair. Annual present from Indonesia to ASEAN countries
Annually, with a notable reduction in the last four years due to covid
dont have to waste time go around and catch the fire makers, the main masterminds are the plantations' owners.. the suspects are just "hired" by them...hefty jail time , fines the owners will do.
