Hi greywolf, the whole tank is in another episode at th-cam.com/video/cv68QVlELNY/w-d-xo.html please feel free to check it out. I'll also talk about the set up and maintenance in future episodes. Thank you.
Your presentations are invaluable. You are a genuine blessing, Sir. The tank is exquisite as the smallest details are colorful, purposeful and community appropriate. Hats off ! Subscribed ! Please, what camera are you using ? Very crisp and real.... 💪💞
Thank you! I'm using Red Sea LED 90. I think most lights on the market today are good to go, but equally important are the trace elements that stimulate the coloration of corals.
Can you share a similar video on Bubble Tip Anemone. In a relatively small mixed reef tank, how do you handle free floating RBTA and aggression issues?
Thank you, I've marked down your suggestion. To make anemones stay put, let their feet fit in rock crevices and surround them with branching live rocks to support their bodies when opening. You can also use the branching rocks to help avoid their aggression towards nearby corals. No need to worry about fish. They are smart.
Love your reef! Love the Eel! Can more than one Garden Eel be kept together in a reef tank? Perhaps the Eels would acclimate better to the tank if there was more that one Eel? How do you keep the allelopathy from the soft corals from hurting the Acropora? Do you use activated carbon for this purpose?
Thank you Mack. I haven't tried two simply because I can't tell their genders. Two of the same gender will probably fight given such a small space. If you are lucky to have two of different genders, then they sure will adapt better. And yes, can't agree more. I use activated carbon exactly for that purpose.
Is it okay with you? I really liked your aquarium this excellent, I wonder if you can tell what are your parameters of the performance of your aquarium and what kind of filtration ? And what salt do you use
Thank you! I've always kept chemicals as stable as possible. The detailed figures are as below: - KH: 9.3 - Ca: 440 - Mg: 1320 - NO3: 5 - PO4: ~0 - Salinity: 1.024 I use the filtration system that comes with the tank (Red Sea 250). It's simply two blocks of filter floss. I also have a big stock of biopellets to house the bacteria. In addition, I have a skimmer and active carbons. In terms of salt, I use Red Sea Coral Pro. I'll shoot an episode on system and maintenance in future updates.
Garden eels poo outside of their burrows, which I talked about near the end of the episode. They tend to keep their burrows free of detritus. I once stirred the sand to see what's inside, but there was not much in there, at least not fish poos. They have been decomposed before they got a chance to get inside the sand.
Don't stir a deep sand bed! Get critters to turn over the top 1 inch. Anything you do deeper to it kills the beneficial bacteria and risks a tank crash. Don't stir it!
There are plenty of supplies of garden eels in local fish stores. But most of them are spotted garden eels. This yellow one is a rare species which I procured by luck. Acclimation is the key to garden eels surviving in a mixed reef environment. Make sure you have a peaceful quarantining tank for acclimation.
I also catch gobies and shore shrimps on tide pool. They are an essential part of the eco system. But are you sure you can catch garden eels there too?
Garden eels are so cool thanks for sharing your experience with keeping them. Another epic video!
Thank you so much! My pleasure.
Aquatic animal husbandry is not my hobby but this was an interesting an informative video, thank you
Great info! Well done 👍
Thank you!
Roger, can you make a video zoomed out so we can see the whole tank and you complete set up. thank you

I wish you were still making videos! What great video quality and corals you have! When is your next video?

Awesome awesome tank I would like to know what you are running for your filtration ? I saw the refugium but what else is down there ?
Thank you. I'll put that in a future episode. But in a nutshell, I have filter floss, biopellets, active carbon, skimmer, algae reactor down there.
Rodger I'd love to know what lights you're using, the colors in your tank are amazing!

Beautiful and inspiring reef tank. Could you share your setup in an upcoming video?
Thank you Aaron. Yes, I’m going to discuss setup and maintenance in future episodes.
Very cool 🙌
Thank you 😊
so you never disturb or vaccume the spot where the Eel borrowed in when doing water changes and maintenance?
Sea cucumbers will do the job cleaning the sand bed. Garden eels will sure be disturbed if I do it myself.
My sand is about 1 - 1.5inch thick, do you think I can keep one garden eel?
Good video
Thank you so much!

What about all the detritus that settles in the sand? How do you clean it with a garden eel? Do you drestroy its burrow each time?

With a garden eel could I keep one with a 1 and half inch deep sand or should I get a 2 and half inch deep?
Yes, 1 and half inch deep worked in its quarantining environment, but 2 and half would be better.
Do you still have your eel? I would like to get one for my tank. I have a 32 gallon biocube. Is this to small of a tank for it?
Thank you so much for sharing knowledge! Can you do step by step video for beginners? Your tank is just amazing. ,,,
Thank you Petter World! My pleasure. I’ll dedicate some future episodes to setup and maintenance. I hope this will help.
What type of sand do you use
I use Red Sea live sand.
Hi there~ 1年多的时间没有看到你更新了,不知近况如何?想请教一下关于饲养花园鳗的事情,我打算用Nature's Ocean 黑色活沙 做底沙,请问是否足够细腻,可以养殖花园鳗?
Are they viable animals for long term? Will they survive or thrive?
I have two but I rarely see them maybe once a week or once every two weeks
So cute! Maybe there're still shy, getting familiar with the surroundings.
thats so cute that they come out to poop haha i wish i can keep them
Just got a garden eel.
I want it 😭

@@zzyz I wish I can catch one hehe
I have a 10gallo saltwater tank but not good as yours. I catch them on tide pool. I want more sea creatures 😍
I also catch gobies and shore shrimps on tide pool. They are an essential part of the eco system. But are you sure you can catch garden eels there too?
@@zzyz when i was 12yrs old I caught eel but im not sure if it is garden eel hard to catch. But ive got it
You are awesome! 👏
