      How would you compare this to the DD1, or even the CS2.5?

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DD1 and CSW2.5 are both smoother and more refined overall. But this has more fidelity than the CSW.

      @@boostedmedia thanks for the reply! I want to build a Sim and given the price differences between a CS2.5 and the DD1 (not much here in Canada) I'm struggling with the idea of the belt or direct drive idea as a noob.

    Great to see that they care about the feedback and modify their product accordingly in a short term. I bought my SC2 Pro last year since I wanted to have a direct drive wheel base, but considering the price difference Simagic would be an option to consider if I would be in the same situation again today. Especially in comparison with the higher priced belt driven wheels like Fanatec's CSW.
    Love those update videos since you can see products evolving over time.

    simagic release the new ddw "alpha" using servo motor just like sc2 or fanatec dd, big improvement from the reviews of some Chinese user compare to M10.
    alpha base + QR is about 812€.
    alpha base + gt4 is about 1123€.
    well technically they announced alpha base several months ago, but retailers didn't have them in stock until 1 or 2 month ago i think.

    • @TheBrennanSchafer
      @TheBrennanSchafer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Looks like the alpha is only $100 more than the M10 with 50% more power and (I'm assuming) a smoother motor. Unless they drop the price I'm not sure why anyone would buy an M10 anymore. Personally, I'm glad to see another company making mid-high end sim gear but I feel like Simagic needs to be a little more aggressive with their pricing if they want to win over more market share. I'm in the market for a DD wheel. I have looked at Simagic but there is really no reason for me to risk buying a Simagic setup other than price yet the Alpha is now priced similarly to the DD1 and Simucube 2 Sport. Even if it is 5-10% less expensive, I don't think saving $50-$100 outweighs the risk spending over a grand on a system and not being sure whether the brand will even be around in a year or two? or whether they will stand by their product if it ends up having issues (iirc Simagic has no in-house support and forces distributers to deal with any issues) Especially, when the alternatives have much better eco-systems and arguably just better products in general.
      That said, I think their products look great, seem to be designed well, and have decent pricing but I think they need to add more value to outweigh the risks. Personally, if I were them, once the Alpha is in full production I'd up the M10's production and offer it to distributers at basically it's cost or even slightly below - making it's MSRP around $499 - $549. This will give the M!) and Alpha a big enough price differential (no one will buy an M10 if the Alphas is only $100 more) DD wheel at this range would crush it and instantly expand their potential customer base. Suddenly, all these people eyeing the CSL Elite and CSW would rightfully so, consider Simagic instead. Sure, you wouldn't be making much money on the M10 base sales but you'd be attracting much more people into your ecosystem - which at this point I would argue is even more important for the brand's success. This will lead to a huge increase of accessory sales (I'd also produce Simagic pedals, shifter, and more wheels all with slightly higher margins)as well as more future sales from word of mouth and customer's upgrades now that they are locked into your ecosystem. Once Simagic's customer base has scaled it will allow them (through the magic of lower marginal costs) to offer better products at better prices further attracting more people into their ecosystem. Anyway, it seems like their best chance at success IMO. Give people a compelling reason to switch over. Right now there is almost no competition right now when it comes to mid-range sim wheels ($400-$700, pretty much just Fanatec) . It's a meaty part of the sim market that Simagic could take a chunk of by using their M10 as a loss leader to attract a lot of people into their ecosystem while also giving themselves a reputation of offering good products at great prices.

      Just switched from a TS-PC and got my m10 all setup. Still tinkering with settings, but so far the upgrade was totally worth it. Much stronger and detailed FFB, and the leather GT1 rim is amazing quality.

      Dunno were you live but it´s cheaper than any DD from Fanatec at least in europe plus it comes with a wheel and shipping..Since it´s a niche hobby most of the companies charge a premium price on anything, specially non premium companies e.g Thrustmaster. it´s nice to see someone trying to lower the prices for a change with a good quality overall.
