The date on the stone on the bridge is 1893. I remember that from when I went to boarding school just outside Wincanton!!
The biggest model railway in Britain, nice work,if it was mine I would be very very tempted to have a couple of vandals hanging from a strategically placed gibbet, It would add a little joy in the hearts of many in a winter landscape
You most certainly did get the right colour, lengths and styles of grass that you have used. You’ve done a most accurate job of creating winter grass!! Well done, Simon George!!
Many many thanks for coming down for two days and making Oak Road’s attendance at the Virtual Great Electric Train Show possible. To be in the spot light with so many other fantastic layouts was quite an honour.
The pleasure was all ours Mike, looking forward to the other bits ;)
Mike's passion for his layout Oak Road was amazing, made an immediate donation to his charity Meningitis Now and I hope others felt the same!
55.17 to 56.00 he's bang on, I'm kinda taking a similar approach as I do buildings, etc around my own layout cos looking around my own town and pics of my inspiration then no nothing matches and has often been changed many times.
Excellent video lads, favorite bit... all of it. more like this please.
Great work. Really enjoyable, a couple of hours well spent. Thanks
I LOVE that Australia Is dominating with the rode Mics they are really one of the best bang for the BUCK mics brilliant video Better than no show at all in 2020
Loved watching this! An absolute pleasure! Best hobby in the world!
Excellent content, thanks for putting this together for everyone to enjoy
2 hours of top entertainment....Thank you.
Brilliant to see these features shown in so much detail.
I had the opportunity to drive the EQS SUV at a recent MB event and using the 'intelligent recuperation' brings most of these systems together nicely - slightly unnerving at first, but totally amazing to see it in action.
A great video especially the rail car. Well done to all three of you and Hornby.
What a great show, look forward to seeing more. Well done Hornby Magazine.
Thanks John!
Well done lads, enjoying from down under!
could you imagine how large Heaton Lodge Junction would be if it was the new TT:120 scale would be insane. Its a amazing layout !!
Excellent episode! Quality content and I loved the fact that it was a really long one!
Woop glad to hear it
What a cool layout!! It reminded me of the Sundays out I had with my late parents when I was at boarding school just outside Wincanton. I will certainly be giving its owner a decent donation for the Meningitis Trust. It’s a very important organisation to support.
seeing the P2 progress is fantastic I can't wait to see it run😀👍
Thank you to all the Hornby magazine team this was a very fantastic Video loved the soundtrack you used as well keep making the videos
Thanks Scott!
Realy good show here with plenty of new stock and great layout builds too👍👌
Many thanks banks road..
What a great video i could not fault it thank you mike and co. More of this please.
Thanks Tony, keep an eye out for a new episode each month.
Really enjoyed the video. Especially liked how all the guests were just left to present their layouts and talk about their passion without prompting or interruption
I'm an electrician, who has spent the last 20yrs working in quarry's around Britain and in 'near' Europe, and you wouldn't believe how many buildings are squashed in, in between the local 'main' road, and the ex faces of workings. Where new plant is introduced into the old space, so new workings can be introduced without being in the way of the new site/faces.
So, you're CLOSER than you think, when it comes to squashing in the crusher, screen house and lorry/rail loadouts into small spaces.!🧐😂!.
I love Oak Road - followed it for ages on RMWeb and always impressed with Mike’s modelling. He also seems like a genuinely nice chap!
For someone like myself from Australia, this was an awesome video with heaps of great content. I'm in love with how the hush hush locomotive's are looking. Some great layouts to watch here. Think I will be watching this more than once. The progress of that P2 is amazing. Really great work and thanks for uploading this video and sharing, Clint
Thanks Clint, glad you enjoyed it!
What a fantastic production, well done. The amount of effort that went into this is commendable. Thank you.
Thanks Oliver, a great effort all round!
Fantastic video guys, enjoyed every minute of it.
Great to hear Stephen
I absolutely loved it, I even learned a few new things along the way, including the modifications done to the p2 design!
Great stuff, thanks for tuning in!
This was absolutely great. Thanks so much for putting this together, every single section was brilliant. Me and my dad spent this Sunday afternoon watching. Please do something like this again chaps! Good work :)
That's great to hear, the next ones already in the planning 🤣
Fantastic from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Brilliant video as ever gents. Really impressed with how well Heaton lodge has developed since you was there last, can't wait to hopefully see it in the flesh. Do like how well the quarry scene is coming along to. Keep up the amazing work you are doing and keep safe
Regards,
James
Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it!
what a superb update..some terrific content...definitley the new models..apt ..1000 ....all layouts featured were great..well done all involved..
Thanks!
I think every rail fan from leeds Bradford are at some point came to Morley spotting I used to go with my grandad every weekend after picking supplies up from blackgates engineering go home and build more parts for his locomotives god it brings back memories brilliant
Brilliant idea with the video Richard! John
Really enjoyed watching this, very good watch!
Thanks Caz
Amazing! I'm really impressed with everything you guys have put together for this (both here and on Key Model World too!) Looking forward to seeing things progress with the Topley Dale Quarry in the future. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks, really glad you enjoyed it!
Such an amazing video..completely in awe at the skill and time needed to make such complex layouts especially the last one..just mind blown!!..ohh and the camera work was awsome!!
Many thanks!
Really nice layouts and good to see small businesses being advertised especially in these difficult times. The most amazing part of the hobby is that no two layouts are the same and the creator is free to do whatever her/she feels is best to create their own little world.
I love to hear what other people think of my layout and accept any constructive criticism as sometimes I'm unsure if what I've created is how it should look.
I'd love to showcase Ewood so people can see it in the flesh but sadly although it does come apart it would be near on impossible to transport.
Thanks for the comment
Very enjoyable - thank you. Favourite part - it is a railway enthusiasts promotion (it could have easily been a Hornby product promotion). I admire Hornby Magazine's sincerity and confidence in producing this.
Another fantastic video guys great layouts and updates,
Thanks Daniel
Great job on this guys!
The road’s been dug up 20 times? More like 50-100 times!! The main road in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire is undergoing yet more unnecessary roadworks!! That’s the third time this year!!
A very enjoyable video thanks has helped pass a quiet Sunday
Great to hear!
Whilst not a fan of the P2 loco it's great to listen to some of the engineering challenges that have been found to overcome
Amazing show guys. Loved the music you used on the different articles the opening music was very 1980's film.
Thanks Ben!
Great video like the detail.thanks very much.
Thanks so much for this, good way to view with the current restrictions. Was looking forward to the Scottish show in Glasgow in February, but that's been cancelled, pity, but I understand. Stay safe all.
Great video really good stuff and I like the sound of east coast cement
Thanks Nathan!
WOW guys!! What a great weekend of entertainment. Great interviews, layouts and 'how to's'. The only thing missing was the meeting up live with friends and maybe the purchase of a few bargains that can be had as SHOW SPECIALS at a live event. Maybe if this is repeated some traders could offer something through a code if bought during the duration of the event, just a thought. I think the quarry on Topsy looks fab. Big thanks to everyone that made the show possible, stay safe and well everyone and catch you soon, regards Bobby 'T'.
I’ve just purchased a micro layout from my club. I’ve dubbed it ‘Walmington-on Sea’ after the location of the television series Dad’s Army. It’s located in Sussex and will feature the Dad’s Army vehicles.
Loved it .. seems years away from my bare boards and a little post war idea !!
WOW ! That was an amazing Virtual Exhibition and an on screen experience . I viewed it via my large screen 4K TV set. So much information and superb layouts built by such really talented people with a real passion . The 2:07:04 running time past so quickly . Thank's guys i am simply lost for words .
Thanks David!
Great video guys keep up the good work
That was a great show guys, thanks. I'm really happy out of 10 with it! And I tell you what, isn't Heaton Lodge Junction an incredible layout? Huge congratulations to Simon for the way it's turned out. Hopefully I might get to see it on tour one day.
Thanks Kevin!
Watching this was the perfect way to ‘wind down’ after a hard days graft. This sure is the ‘greatest hobby in the world’ and thank you so much for making such an excellent video available to support our insatiable appetite for all things model railroad.
Thanks Tom!
A great video. Thanks. 👏
Though I’m an O-Gauger over here in the states, I must tell you I enjoyed this immensely. You model railroaders from across the pond have a uniquely detailed approach. I actually watched this in its entirety, twice.
Excellent.
Great to hear Ken, Did you enjoy Heaton Lodge Junction? That's O gauge.
@@hornbymag
I miss that detail, assuming O-Gauge was predominantly an American thing, and without that 3rd rail, well...
All of your show was just incredibly enjoyable; glad you’re here as you bring an enjoyable diversity.
Thanks!
Congratulations to all concerned with production and to those who took part. A most very enjoyable watch. Real world trains. Models and modeling to retailers it had the lot. 🚂🚃🚃🚃
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@hornbymag Seeing Richard of New Junction and Dave of Cottesmore figures on Mike Buick's Meningitis Trust layout station made me smile. I'm guessing these are ModelU figures.
I really like the work on Oak Road. I would like to see this layout attend the Belfast exhibition in 2021 or 2022. A lot of people would love to see this.
Maby one day 👍🏻
Wow, thank you. Belfast is a bit of a trek, but if it was ever logistically possible, I’d try my hardest to make it happen 👍
@@mikebuick2332 No problem. To be honest. I could just sit next to the layout and watch those trains for hours mate. I like the music you used as well as its very fitting and it gives the mood of the layout. Would you or Hornby Magazine know the name of the track. I am assuming its a royalty-free track that creators can buy to use on their videos. I really like it. I am going to subscribe to your channel as well Mike and if the Hornby Class 60's interest you mate. You could always add 60100 in DB red livery to the quarry operations in the future.
@@BritishRail60062 Richard added the music
That thumbnail of the HST was enough to make me click on this video so fast that I accidentally subscribed 3 times!!
Been on Gaugemaster web site bought my self same building you showed on the video came 2 day it’s definitely a big model thanks again for the web site address
hi guys
must admit i loved oak road and cant wait to see it at an exhibition when we get them back.
and that o gauge layout its a monster could imagine that at warley show.
peter
Itll be nuts!
We will have to do a exhibition just for that monster with all o gauge support
lucky Richard, going to see my current favourite new build project! Can't wait to see 2007 in steam in two years.
Ha it was a great day out
Hornby Magazine I bet it was
Hi hornby magazine a great video guys I love it I love see the new hornby class91 and the new APT/P TRAIN Keep up the great work guys I would like to see the new APT/P TRAIN running on your layout soon stay safe and well guys goodbye for now clive
You never know what's round the corner Clive! 🤣
wow brilliant you guys
nice one! Thanks gents.
You're welcome Steve!
Tell that guy with the layout around Castle Carey that the date on the tunnel at this location is 1856.
I went to boarding school just outside Wincanton and visited Castle Carey whenever my parents came to see me!!
The electric auto car at Embsay and the model are amazing
Yep both stunning
The date on the stone for Somerton tunnel is 1906. Hope this helps!
The only thing that I’m unable to obtain is a Holden 5F tank locomotive. It has just been built by the F5 Restoration Society, who completed this brand new steam locomotive, and still no model. The nearest thing is a model of a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 5F, adapted to Holden specifications.
Loved mike buick's excellent layout oak road with the hst's do you know if the background music is on you tube
I can’t wait
The wait is over!
Now thats a layout great , Camborne central
Looking forward to this.
Woop!
@@hornbymag Thanks for a great show. Loved it.
wow thats a great model railway
The best part of this video has to be that wonderful O Gauge Layout. Are we going to see the running of the W1 around Toplidale? I would really like to own one. Best video so far. My thanks go to all three of you and Hornby Magazine. Martin. (Thailand)
Very informative section on the Prince of Wales
More to come on the P2, watch this space
well I'm glad someone still is interested in trains this video made me feel like I want to make a model railway and now I'm getting a bunch of stuff from woodland and hobbyco and stuff like that . I'm going to make heavy realistic areas you should go watch Luke Towan on TH-cam .
Gorgeous layout!! The buildings fit it perfectly, although I would never put in industrial buildings. I’m not against industry, but I do love houses and shops.
Wouldn’t have a railway without industry
Awesome!
Woop
Great news.
It may look a little bit like Heath-Robinson, but it’s under renovation and that’s how renovations look when they’re being built!!
Looking forward to the 91. Hopefully we get a rake of mk4 LNER coaches to go with it. :)
Fingers crossed!
My gods, that intro music!
I wish I had a £1 for every time the clip of people queuing for last years exhibition was inserted into this video - It would fund my next N gauge project :)
Fantastic
Thanks
That was a BUMPER edition! Great stuff, keep it up. Thanks!! - Did you get a 68 by the way??
"Heaton Lodge Junction to tour the country" - I wonder how many lorry's that's going to need
HLJ is a feat of civil engineering, not just modelling!
I have popcorn 🚂🚂🚂 plz start the show 🍚🍕
You needed a lot of popcorn for this
love this, whats the music at the beginning please?
An exhibition? Glad your still doing the Hornby magazine show while in lockdown :)
We are too, this ones a megathon of a video 😁
2:06:19 to 2:06:34 Im ded xD the way you two stared into the camera was priceless.
one word: WOW
Thanks!
I would love to know who made the J94 sound chip!! I have a pair of J94s that I would like to have chipped for DCC control and sound.
I'll be visiting London for the first time next May, does anyone have a suggestion the best model train shop in the city? Thank you so much!
Really enjoyed this video; I haven't been involved with model railways for decades but it is still awesome to see what others have achieved. The Oak Road layout is stunning; is there a link to Mike's Just Giving page? Thanks! 😊
Cant wait we've lost so many exhibitions we need some inspiration
Hope you enjoy!
Great video had me glued more please you three

for the gentlman from the menigitus trust have you approached network rail in the area of your tunnel and asked if they could get you a photo of the tunnel entrance?
