    The Witcher: Blood Origins Episode 1 demonstrates why Henry Cavill was both needed and right to leave The Witcher. We know he loves Witcher lore and was a restraining influence on the show to the extent that he could be. Well The Witcher Blood Origins is the show they WOULD have made without him, and oh boy was it bad. Now in single digit review scores on Rotten Tomatoes and websites trying to claim Henry is even to blame for THAT, this series is a window into what The Witcher series 4 will be. Episode 1 was bad enough, and I can't imagine it going uphill from here, so the question is how low can we go? But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

      Too many people will watch it either hoping they naysayers are wrong and they will like it, to see if it is that bad, or the addicts will watch it out of desperation. The latter just continues to fuel the negative feedback loop of wanting something good, but continuing to get too desperate and watching, and thus promoting, the bad. Then you have every reviewer under the sun that'll watch it, instead of just basing the review off of available information, they synopsis and the trailer, because just those last two items clearly tell you that it's just more regurgitated garbage.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I watched it and it's not terrible but definitely sub par. Henry Cavill should not star in such trash. But what's disappointing is the fight scenes are poorly choreographed. Clearly whoever directed this isn't the same director as the main series. The Witcher fighting the dragon was the most disappointing. They build it up over 4 episodes as an origin story of the first Witcher and all he does is run under the dragon then throws an axe and kills the dragon 🐉 and that's it. All that buildup to just throw an axe. This is beneath Henry Cavill.

    The way almost every man is portrayed, the misandry is so blatant it's disgusting. The Ciri knock-off. The Lark not looking like she knows how to hold an instrument bow. Her being so clean with heavy natural makeup. The DnD fanfiction. The Elf becoming a Witcher. The random magic and creatures. It's all so God damned dumb.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Yeah it sucks big time and is disjointed like someone wrote the plot on a napkin in a coffee shop. It's all over the place with a shallow plot and lame action choreography. Witcher fights with monster is what defines a Witcher so this has to be good but it's poorly shot.

      Like... she hated him at first, how'd the whole dynamic between them change after they met the Malaysian lady?
      And don't tell me it's because he liked the song she was singing or that they got drunk the night before and Fjal took the burden of being the witcher. That's just stupid.

    These recent television writers are actually kind of scary. The people they are framing as heroes and the actions they take are very worrying. i've watched it all and - spoiler alert - the queen is not considered good. it's a bait. she's not pure evil as she has glimpses of good, but that's just to create a contrast to the pure evil and create more than 2 competing forces.
      the story is not good vs evil, rather heroes who did horrific things in the past and improved vs opportunistic villain vs full villain. it tried to keep the witcher tone where nobody is purely good, not even geralt.
      i think it had a good concept but got destroyed by checkboxes and cutting down the length. we can never tell unless they release the original version.

    So let me get this straight, the Elves in the Witcher series view Humans as "invaders/colonizers" when the entire rationale of the Elven leadership for building those monoliths and portals (which the humans used to enter their world in the first place) was their attempt to invade and colonize other worlds..... Seriously, does nobody in this show proofread their scripts?

    I am from Poland. I think that so far Polish version of Witcher was the best. I know it did not have special budget, big American names but at least it was faithful to the original, had good story and characters and Polish actors such as Michał Żebrowski (Geralt), Zbigniew Zamachowski (Jaskier), Grażyna ("Grace" for Englich speakers) Wolszczak as Yennefer, Agata Buzek (she played nun in Coliber along side with Jason Statam) as Pavetta and Anna Dymna as Nenneke gave the heart and love for acting.

      I have to agree, even though Jaskier doesn't look dashing and flamboyant as he should. Zbigniew is a solid actor and he was good in his role. It's sad they didn't manage to go for a sequel.
      This version appears to be really popular among Russian fans of Witcher and it's literally the first Witcher-related content I was introduced to and it managed to get me hooked, so I read all the booked after that. Never will Hollywood understand the Slavic vibe as Slavs do

Besides the ball sack and the soles of the feet, I can't think of a worse place to purposely cut yourself. Not only is it painful, but it renders the hand useless until it's healed. God Fantasy is one of my favourite genres and seeing it be butchered by every single western studio is just sad to see (I'm just grateful Manga and Anime fantasy exist to allow me to escape to a real fantasy world). It's not hard to do a fantasy series. Hell it's not hard to make it diverse considering how many races are in Fantasy. It's not even that difficult to create a plot that makes sense or have fun interesting characters. I say this to myself but dear god these writers make it seem like I'm some sort of super genius or that it's some sort of impossibility. Hell if these were the stories I grew up with than maybe I would think it's impossible to write a decent story.
    I can't begin to imagine how sad and pathetic these writers imagination is when they force themselves to bend to others will and restrict themselves to honestly a ridiculous moral code. No writer should restrict themselves in any way. Go bonkers! Go Mad! Let your imagination take you to wild places. This is the series you get when you restrict yourself. These writers don't fight back. They don't scream to keep their vision intact. FFS for lack of a better term MAN UP! You can keep to an idea of having a diverse cast and all that as all it takes is some basic worldbuilding to get it working in a way that makes sense. You have to understand Hollywood writers your idea of deconstructing a world is just non-sense and so incredibly boring.
    You can fool yourselves into believing you're some sort of genius storyteller if you like but honestly I've seen pigeons with brighter ideas. Your ideas aren't good. Sorry did that hurt your self esteem or your ego? Shame that. Just imagine how the writers of the source material feel watching what you're doing to their lifelong work.

    The unique thing about the witcher (books) is that it was a world of magic but also realist. You didnt kill a dragon because you were a hero, you wanted the crown, and if killing a dragon would make people think that you can be a king, you would hire an army, and after the dragon is down, claim it for yourself. And the ragon would be an endangered specie.
    In that world, for killing bandits in front of the public you would become the butcher of blaviken. And in that world, aparently now you can stab people in their legs without consecuences.

    Henry Cavill seems pretty alright despite being the ultimate Chad. He stays out of drama, he's seems polite and professional, he's dated fairly average looking women, and he cares about the source material and respecting the original writers. He doesn't deserve to be punished right now, but I guess this will just make him even more of a chad. Superman still had to face adversity despite his powers, so it's Henry's turn to show what he can do in the face of eviI.

    This script was definitely written by a modern feminist. The part where the guardian is exiled, and she doesn't even care an ounce, is exactly how a toxic feminist would act. It's all about her. Other people don't matter. Sociopathic narcissists.

    • @lukaszzylik4437
      @lukaszzylik4437 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It doesn't have to be a feminist writer. This same exact plot line occurs in House of the Dragon. Princess Rheanyra just about forces herself on Criston Cole knowing he's a Kingsguard. That's an automatic death sentence for him. It's a death sentence for a kingsguard to sleep with anyone, and when Cole talks to her about it she straight up doesn't care.
      I dont think that makes GRRM a feminist writer. It just shows how immature and young Rheanyra is and it helps shape her character.

    I have seen all episodes, I am a fan of the Witcher franchise, having read (most) of the books even before realising CDPR made the games (started 1, finished 2-3 100%). And like my medieval/fantasy. The Henry Cavill led Season 1 of the Netflix adaptation was kinda great (weird diversity casting but typical Netflix), jarring with time skips, Ect.
    So, Blood Origin. It's essentially the prequel story of the Elven kingdoms, the Hero's that ended the empire, and the Conjunction of the Spheres.
    But don't get your hopes up. The writing isn't great, the vague story is barely akin to the lore, and yes there are character names involved that tie in with The Witcher, it's still confusing to watch.
    I've honestly given this a 2/5. The locations, most of the set pieces, costumes and weapons, the CGI creatures, not bad. It's the Story, the widely "Diverse" casting choices that separate the "Tribes" sure, but creates no other sense of location or lineage of the rest of the cast. It's not great.
    Also the Proto-Witcher at the end. It's obvious that the writers have no idea what the "trial of the grasses" was suppose to be.
    There is a small tie-in at the end credits to pull this back in line with the next Netflix adaptation for season 3. But with how the writers have brutally altered the story in season 2, I will not be returning personally.

    By now I have watched quite a few reviews of that show. Most of these reviews are amusing. There is sarcastic snark from The Drinker; there is mostly uncontained, burning rage from Az and then there's you. You slip on your long gloves, flip down your visor and get right into the thick of it with a scalpel and tweezers. How you manage to remain calm for the length of this video is beyond me. I watched about 10 minutes of this show and then I went to chop some firewood because I just had to break something. Remarkable!
    Thank you for this one, it was very entertaining. I left a sub and will be back for the rest, partially because I want to see whether or not your sanity prevails against continued exposure to this bundle of fecal matter.

    Looks JUST like how it early medieval northern Europe would have; many of the region were known for their long line of sub-Saharan Celtic bards, and that the Druids were compromised of the people that would s sometime later be more commonly be known as: "Brazilians" and "Cambodians" (by way Van Nuys). Netflix surelymust have had to hire an anthropologist as a consultant to be able to cast the show with such ethnic realism. 🙄
