He really did manage to make that guitar sound like like a heavily clipped and soundwalled 2000s rock song right out of the real hardware and there was something oddly bittersweet about hearing it
The power of music is quiet powerful, this sound feels so nostalgic but also giving out on how life is currently feeling. I know this moment isn’t much at the moment but I know I’ll look back and miss these days
This is the song when the guy says, "fuck it..." and runs in the rain to go ask the girl he loves on a date, but when he shows up to her house, he sees her getting railed, from the front window, by literally every guy in the movie, all at the same time.

"Be good to yourself man, you deserve it." "I'll try." And then he was gone. It was the last time I ever saw Kevin. He died two months later. It's been twenty years and it still doesn't feel real. “And there we all were, with the rest of our lives ahead of us, and we didn’t even know it… Everyone has since gone their own way, Julia finally made it as the lawyer she always wanted to be in New York. Jason joined the Army just like his Dad. I just found out that he was killed in action a few years ago, stepped on an IED, I like to think he didn’t feel a thing. I still see his mom from time to time, still wearing the necklace we all made for our Mom’s as kids in elementary school. I don’t think she recognizes me. And Taylor, who knows what we could have been, but her and her husband had a baby girl and moved to Florida, they seem really happy. I’m the only one left here, I stayed behind to take over the family business, and every night as I take my evening jog, I run through those neighborhoods, by the schools where it all began, and for a moment I miss it. But then I go home and kiss my kids good night, and sit down for a glass of wine with my wife on the porch and am grateful. Everything happened the way it should. And I’m right where I need to be.”
Don't know how I stumbled upon this video again. But damn does this remind me of some sweet late 90's to early 2000's masterpieces that need to come back. Please build this into a full song worthy of it, with a full band with as much inspiration as you had to create this
If I had to describe the vibes of this: A careful concoction of 1 cup Green Day, 1 cup Sum 41, 2 cups Blink 182, and 3 cups of PlayStation 2 mixed in a bowl of High School and put in the oven, set to the year 2001.
“Sometimes, the thing you’ve been looking for has been right under your nose this whole time. I stopped chasing Popular Girl Candace because she was never gonna break up with Bad Boy Rodger; and she just liked stringing me along. Next thing I knew, I was on my 3rd date with Abigail, that quiet girl from my Algebra class who was into all the same bands and books I was into. Candace actually broke with her usual routine and called me while I was waiting for Abbie outside the mall bathrooms by the Food Court. I silenced the ringer, deleted her number, and snapped my phone shut. ‘Who was that?’ asked Abbie. ‘No one important.’ I replied. She hooked her arm around mine and we hit the arcade.”
"As my freshman year at Wilson High came to an end, I learned an important lesson. Sure, it hurts seeing that cute, sweet girl from the volleyball team run off with some airhead jock who gave you a wedgie for listening to Slayer on your mp3 player. But nothing lifts your spirits more than your best bro going up to you, handing you a bottle of Sunny D, and inviting you over to play some Soulcalibur on his PlayStation 2. Turns out you dont need to be the hero that gets the girl of his dreams at the end, you just need to be happy with what you already have in front of you, and never take it for granted..."
That because they all use a lot of the top string drone that this uses. Also silversun pickups use it a lot too. Another fun shoegaze drone trick is to let the bottom two strings ring open. Get some big Pete Townshend style strums in there but hit all six strings and relish in the multi frequency drone. Very 👌👌
@@f67739 no I mean multi frequency because the top e and bottom e resonate at different frequencies as do the b string and any other string on a stringed instrument because that is how sound works. Now can you say it they way you did? Yeah sure, but I can also say an ocean is a soup. The statement while can be said that way (an ocean is salty water [broth] with meat and vegetables [the various organisms that live in an ocean] and is gradually increasing in tempature [climate change]) it isn't the most accurate representation of a soup or an ocean. Thanks for coming to this redundant and completely unnecessary Ted talk by trying to correct someone who wasn't wrong by saying basically the same thing but with less technical jargon.
this hurts in a very bittersweet nostalgia way. reminds me of the senior trip i took with my grade. we were at an amusement park. all laughing and singing and dancing to someone on stage playing don’t stop believin. we were happy and i sat down for a moment and watched everyone create the last glimpses of memories together. these were the moments that would stick in each of our minds. after graduating, we all went our separate ways and started lives from the little we knew about the world. as all people who graduate do. and no, i wouldn’t go back to then. i like it where it is.
"If there's one thing I learned that summer, its that nothing in life is permanent, the shop was soon closed and most of my friends left town. Bill graduated collage and got married he moved up north and I haven't heard from him since." "Rodger became a traveling salesman, and I hear he's doing well, Alyssa and Hannah quickly found husbands...and as for me...I decided it was time to finally walk that path my father always spoke about"
Having very recently gone through some huge life transitions involving losing many friends and breaking up with a long term girlfriend, this audio clip was just... so right, and so well timed. It perfectly captures the intersection of pain and optimism in these "life-defining" moments if you will. That temporary feeling of emptiness is surreal, tedious, terrifying, and yet, beautiful at the same time. Because deep down inside, you know that because of this feeling, you're on your way to a better life, and a better mental space. But until then, shit's scary. Fuck, man.
Holy shit dude, never could've put that feeling into words as well as you just did. Realising how much of a gap someone left in your life is such a painful feeling, yet knowing that this emptiness can be filled with so many new things makes times like these some of the most exciting life has to offer.
I'm going through the same, and I know what you mean, listening to this just felt different from anything I've felt before tbh, a mix of hopefulness, but also forlorn.
This is so inspirational. It evokes so many emotions and memories. It can be hopeful, it can be heartbroken, it can be so many things. Maybe I might be rambling a bit but this isn't just music, it's art.
This is the sound of that late 90's/early 00's high school movie ending, if you were a teenager at that time you will definitely understand the feeling behind this, almost a self absorbed addicting sort of depressing lovable nostalgic feeling about the most difficult/funniest times of our lives as a whole! Different times :')...
@@Ren-tw7zq I know how you feel. My 2 best friends split away from our hometown. One of them went several states away and the other went to the army and is stationed in Indonesia. Maybe you'll meet again and be better people for having gone through what you did.
I’ve replayed this video a bunch of time’s already. This honestly deserves to be a song. The early mid 2000s nostalgia vibe is hitting me hard on this one.
I'm unoriginal and I couldn't help but chime in with everyone's end credits: Those 4 years were definitely some of the most memorable years in my life [pan to two guys excitedly collaborating] Mike and James went on to start their film studio and are now one of the biggest studios in Hollywood. Just like they said they would. [pan to girl sitting on a porch with notepad] Gabby went on to travel, finally started that novel and talked to a therapist about her mental health. Last I talked to her, she was somewhere in Washington with a cottage and 2 dogs. [cut to flashback group shot, laughing and playfully shoving] Do I miss those days? Absolutely. Do I wish they could last forever? Heh, why wouldn't I? But I wouldn't be where I am today with the memories I made with the group that took me in when no one else would. We still stay in touch whenever we can. [cut over to man walking with pregnant wife, young kid and dog through a park] I'll always remember those days and pass on the lessons I learned with them to my kids so they can have an even better experience than me. Well, until next time; and until then, as we said to each other after each hangout; [four voices simultaneously] "Catch you on the flip-side!"
DUDE!!! Your riff sounds like a song I wrote 30 years ago, except each passage is twice as long. Goes to show there is only so much that can be done with the 12 notes on the scale, and how somewhere down the line another brilliant mind is gonna stumble across a similar passage. Bravo and brilliant!!! Cheers mate!🤘🎸🏴☠️
It’s pretty genius actually. The distortion makes the lower notes sound mushy, while the higher notes are gentle. So you have dark background noise with a gentle melody- making it a dirge
@@jessethijssen7799 So yeah you tune the whole guitar down a whole step to DGCFAD, thats a D standard guitar, then drop your D to C and you have drop C as you mentioned CGCFAD
“I’ll see you guys soon!” he said to us all. But he never came back. We all heard stories, sure. He headed east, got a job in the city somewhere; or he met a girl and they ran off somewhere together. I heard he hitchhiked until he finally saw the ocean. Some one else said he died and never made it out of the state. I’m not sure, really. We all get together sometimes when we’re all home. It never feels like we’re all here, though, without him...
Like pretty much everyone else, this reminds me of my school days. I remember walking through the busy halls, spending lonely hours in study hall, etc. I never really liked school, I was usually that one weird kid everyone ignored or mocked behind my back, but with this particular riff I can't help but think back to those days, how easy I had it back then. All I can say is to those of you reading this, cherish each moment, no matter what's happening, because you'll never get them back.
This reminds me of the last party I went to in senior year. Finals had just ended, convocation was the night before and it was one last bash before everyone went off to live their lives. At the time, a friend of mine named Max said "this is the last time we will see most of these people". At the time, i didn't think much of it, but looking back he was absolutely right. There were people who were at that party that I shared a drink with and laughed alongside that I have never spoken to since. Max and I drifted apart shortly after covid started and I don't keep in touch with anyone from high school anymore. It doesn't bother me though, I'm happy with where I am in life and I will always have the memories.
i swear my computer is spying on me, i have nearly the exact same guitar as you, same body, dual humbuckers, just a different head shape... I put my guitar in front of my camera twice. HOW did i get reccomended this?!?!?!

High school should never be the "best time of your life". Hopefully it's not a negative experience, but there is so much more to life after high school. People feel nostalgia for high school because it was the last time in their life where things felt simple. Make new memories my friend, but never forget the old ones.

She said that we will always keep in touch. After awhile we stopped talking. Five years later I got the job at the law firm and well she ended up becoming pharmacist, mom, and wife to a great guy. I always think about her from time to time but at the end of the day I'm glad things ended the way they did. But never take things for granted because you never know what you got till it's gone. *roll credits*
Becuase you have the dirty distortion/overdrive sound in drop D so it sounds like White Pony Deftones. But the chord progressions are similar to Enema of the State Blink 182. He is using the E, D, C, D scale but in drop D (most used punk combo). He is playing D using octaves to create a harmony fluctuating between a major and minor chord (which screws with your perception of the note). That is why everyone feels the same from the pattern. Bands that used this progression: Green Day Blink 182 Gob Lit Spacehog Better Than Ezra and MANY more. Notice a pattern? All 90s and 2000s bands.
This is the tone and Chord Progression that should be used when there is a big twist at the end of a movie that makes you question everything you believed throughout said movie.

That because they all use a lot of the top string drone that this uses. Also silversun pickups use it a lot too.
