I’ve had mine for years, lost the original battery and battery cover, I’ve broken lots of plastic on it, but it still pushes on going much faster than the car in this video and I have a similar model, I respect there opinion but for 70 bucks it’s a steal in my opinion

I have this truck. I guess when you have hundreds of RC trucks .... this truck rocks for the money. Replaceable parts. You are probably the only reviewers to almost totally bag on this one. To each their own. Elitist much??? Spend some time with it, it rips pretty good for an under $60 truck. Eh. I take it with a grain of salt. I have this truck and I thought the same thing . But I have a friend that came over one day and we wanted to try something on this little truck . So we taped a 3 cell lipo battery on it and OMG it gave it more weight and now I love it . It will fly on 3 cell and I been using it on 3 cell fore a good while and it has not broke anything so far and its loads of fun now .
Pinion Gear sometimes spins on the motor shaft. You have to drill the pinion gear and put a grub screw in it to keep it from spinning on the shaft. The old transmitter allowed you to put the steering knob on either side of the transmitter for left or right operation. The new transmitter comes with the steering trim. The 1st version had battery issues. That's been resolved.

Yeah, plastic gears that last a long time, if not abused hard. I just got a cheaper desert buggy, as I started with rock crawlers last year, and didn't know if I'd like desert racing. It's great for the hobby to have RTR RC"S to get old people like me started. Thanks.
I had one of these guys a while back and it wasn't bad because I was younger and it seemed cool. I recently upgraded to a better truggy and it runs alot better. The issue with this one is it's way too short for how wide it is. That's why you can't keep it straight. I had that same issue. The gear was probably the differential because that was the first to go on mine. I replaced it twice and after the second one went, I just crammed it full of hot glue and resealed it. I believe that helped it stay steady-ish too. Eventually, I took it fully apart because I wanted some of the parts for my new truck like shocks and driveshafts. But I found out that it has ball bearings in the wheel mounts (Idk what they're called), and not bushings, when my new truck had bushings. So that was a good find and a quick swap. If you made it this far thanks for reading lol. That's just my take on this little guy. P. S. I paid $50 for mine and it had a 9.6v li-ion pack in it.

That's a bummer you didn't like this truck. I own 3 of them. I didn't pay as much as you did for them though, I got them on a lightning deal on Amazon for $20 less. Yes, you are correct in saying this is an OK truck and that it's better than anything at Wal Mart or Target. It is still fun to drive, though, after you are used to the controls. My 2 boys (14 and 10) and I love driving these around the yard and street, and we know how punchy and sensitive the the throttle is (Yes Abby, I too have done what you did several times and driven the truck off the couch or a table and crashed it on the floor when turning on the truck after installing the battery). You really do have to baby the throttle most of the time. BUT, if you compare the price I paid to the trucks at said big box stores, it's a WAY better deal. I can replace parts and be back on the road in no time. We took these trucks on vacation with us when we visited relatives last week. I let my uncle drive one of them, and this was his first experience with an RC car. I'll tell you what, he had a blast with it! He has a very large yard and he was driving it ALL over. Sure this probably wasn't the best truck to give him for a first time driver, but he loved every minute of it! So yes, these aren't the best trucks in the world, but once you get used to them (as you were towards the end of the video, Abby) they are more fun. If you get 2 or 3 of them together, then it's even more fun. My boys and I race them up and down the street. But the price to fun factor can't be beat. If it breaks, fix it and start all over! So, they aren't complete junk. They are cheap enough for a teenager and a 10 year old to drive around and break them and me not getting mad at them. :) One last thing I'd like to mention: Yes, these vehicles are waterproof. It does say on the box and the manual that they are. There is also a video of someone throwing it into a swimming pool, taking it out and driving it around. Anyway, thanks for the video, and I'm sorry you guys didn't like this vehicle! Better luck next time!

I have that exact truck, so far ive replaced he rear upper controll arms and now im waiting for the rear transmission differential gearing because i snapped mine from trying to drift, i also used KINNEX to build custom body mounts for a new body that i made that fitted the truck more
I have the S912, and really like it pretty well. It's not like the ones that you can just jam the throttle and go. You have to learn a feel for the proportional throttle and use it.
This is the very first vehicle we've ever had our hands on that is so touchy. Just our opinion versus the hundreds of other things we've driven. Nothing against your opinion. Happy Driving!

Yes the silly little wheel is very sensitive to control. It actually takes some time to learn how to drive the crazy thing believe it or not because of the sensitivity. If the wheel was the same size of a car wheel it would be much easier LOL.. I think the noise you heard was gravel in the gears, at least i hope it was and not the gears them selves . After a good blow job with a can of air (Abby i heard that !) hopefully will improve the noise. Don't give up on it, the dang thing took me a week to get it down pat to run up a small platform and keep it straight LOL happy truckin'''''' .. now back to my QuadCopters if this dang snow would stop !! Sometimes it might take us a while to get certain things on the channel, but we try! I really don't know why others would like this. It seems very obvious that it is poorly made. Maybe thise others are trying to sell it or something? Who knows.. sad to think that :/
I put different tires on this truck is handles great. the monster tries are good for short grass and bashing. It will take a beating. There are a lot of videos you can convert plug to old Tamiya style and you can plus in 2 batteries which is must faster.
this is just the newer(slower) version of the SP 912 I believe it is. It's good car you want to watch out for the differential it develops a grinding sound.
I won't be buying that, question... i have the 12428 you did a video on not too long ago, it takes 7.4v 1500mAh battery, would it be ok to put a more powerful battery in it and if so would it make the car more powerful? would it burn out the motor?
you guys should do a review on the Wltoys a959-b/a979- there great RC's for the price and unbelievably fast and durable plus you have the option of all aluminum upgrades
Nate is the thickest gear in the motor it happened to mine! you need another one but the extras you buy r different and all of them has to be replaced not just one!
I have this truck Its pretty good and durable and its parts are available easily. But, It has a lot of traction issue😑. Since its 2wd and light weight i technically can't do full throttle and just go like till mid..... Its tyres are the main reason cuz of its traction issue😑😑. Buy it, but make sure to buy some foam inserted rubber tyres and try so add some weight to it just try to of else u will be disappointed definitely... If you can't find new tyres and all then rather buy a WLTOYS L959 which is 2wd too but much better with traction but it has some of its problems too ofc...

I remembered the 4WD Off Road Vehicle with LED Light - BLACK AND GREEN the minute I saw it funny thing is when I checked the link to Gearbest it came up the exact same price as this pile of ---- so guess which I ordered. I've never had a ground vehicle but you guys convinced me to get one, my birthday is in a couple of weeks so I guess it's my gift to me. LOL BTW, my wife and I both agree..... we like Abby better without makeup, but that's just us.
agreed %100! terrible weight distribution by the designer. i moved the battery to the back of the car and added a bit of extra weight to the rear, problem solved %90.
Great video, i have this truck too and the reason it is hard to control is the wheels/tires. If you swap them for off road dune buggy ones it corners so much better. ebay has them for under £10 uk pound for a set of 4 delivered just make sure they you order them with 12mm hex size hubs. Still great honest video there. just subbed and liked
With a 2wd you can't just hammer the throttle, you have to ease into the speed lol. And as a general rule in RTR vehicles, get aftermarket wheels/tires suitable for the terrain you are on!
Just depends I suppose. We've had amazing out of the box experiences for around the same price. Of the hundreds of things we've driven, this is towards the bottom of the list :/ Remember, this is just our OPINIONS.. we aren't here to step on your toes or offend you. If you can find the good in this, we applaud you!
I have it but. My battery is toast. I can’t floor it I have to start out really slow to get it going and does go offroad like it used to. It gets stuck easy. it didn’t do that before.
I own the truggy version and it behaves the same way bought from Gearbest on flash sale last year for 30 usd. It drives OK on pure tarmac and incremental acceleration but any turning is futile
I totaly agree with you. This Truck sucks. But the worst part is not its handling but durability. I have had 3 of those and all of them fell apart pretty soon. The Plastic gets worn out very soon on the arms holding the wheels and they Just Fall off.
Good and very fair review- One I will definitely avoid because of your review and because for the same price here in the UK I can get the WL 1/12th one which is way better

In the future when you ramp land of the throttle it will strip gears mostly on cheap trucks but heavy and expensive will srtrip too.:)

you have to go half throttle then full for max speed

yes but the other truck does not go as fast. Also there is the s912 luctan which is much better
I have it but. My battery is toast. I can’t floor it I have to start out really slow to get it going and does go offroad like it used to. It gets stuck easy. it didn’t do that before.
I own the truggy version and it behaves the same way bought from Gearbest on flash sale last year for 30 usd. It drives OK on pure tarmac and incremental acceleration but any turning is futile

It's possible, though I think the real issue is that it's RWD with no weight and pretty bad, hard plasticy tires.
TheRcSaylors the tires have foams the real problem is the lightness
That makes sense, too light in front and the tires work more like a ski.

I totaly agree with you. This Truck sucks. But the worst part is not its handling but durability. I have had 3 of those and all of them fell apart pretty soon. The Plastic gets worn out very soon on the arms holding the wheels and they Just Fall off.
Good and very fair review- One I will definitely avoid because of your review and because for the same price here in the UK I can get the WL 1/12th one which is way better

I broke a drive cup and stripped my gearbox and killed a motor

@@smashrc8481 i did the same, but i didnt strip any motor and i snapped the rear upper controll arms from jumping a snow bank and it landed hard on the read left tire

if you put the wheels on backwards it will stick better

Heres a Life hack,I lost my Clips so if you did too try my idea,Use paper Clips instead,Thats what i use and it stays on even at full throttle.
