If you're referring to a modified sine wave inverter or conventional inverter then as long as the air-conditioner does not have sensitive electronics like inverter style motors, frequency , and voltage sensitive computer boards then no as long as the voltage does in fact stay withing range of the manufacturers specs. Like an rv airconditioner does not have any other 120v electronics in it other than the motor and compressor. It only has a relay that is flipped by a 12v circuit. This is only my opinion and not facts. I would run my portable and a window ac off a modified inverter but only if it is not a inverter style. Hope this helps.
@@jaysonstebbins2539 VFD mean Variable Frequency Drive. In Pakistan people use cheaper Vfd inverter it simply convert solar dc to AC power. It has only pv input and AC output and doesn’t support batteries. Only work under sunlight. We everyday switch to inverter and evening time again to grid

@@jaysonstebbins2539 it was used for tubewell pump. But later modified by local electricians for home use. But this is cheapest. I bought 7kw in Rs.35000 and branded inverter price is Rs.300000. I temporarily installed to run air conditioner in hot summer. I am waiting for epever 5500watt inverter
