    I rode a 3 yr old stallion that is son to Homer, and he is the best racking horse I have ever rode. I've never had a smoother ride. Even though he's been bred multiple times unless I looked, I'd personally have thought him a gelding... I'm in love with this horse!

    I didn't see where he was asking for any "public" advise on how to ride "his" horse no matter what the intention. Thanks for sharing a wonderful video of a remarkable horse with us. YOU RIDE JUST FINE !!!!!!!!!!!!! and the horse looks GREAT!!!

      This is what happens when a public 2-3 generations removed from dealing with livestock gets to comment on how hard they think the poor horsie has to work.

    Love this video! Interesting to see this horse's natural talents taken to the max. More horses should be worked like this, great exercise. Great gaits and he sure looks comfortable, no matter what speed he's going. I read a book written about 50 years ago, and it said the horse wasn't really working unless you could hear them breathing, so good job!

    Very nice Speed Horse, enjoyed riding with two of his off-springs last week-end, just two years old and they left the group setting, I was impressed !!! You have a very nice stallion, and I surprised to learn of his size, This video reminds me of a herd of Mustangs out West running in the wind, but in this case they are Racking in the Wind !!!!

  • @lisaroderick7173
    @lisaroderick7173 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This horse is amazing. I love watching this video. A rack is completely different from a gallop. This horse can do this for miles. The rider sits back to keep the weight off the withers. If anyone is going to criticize this horse and rider at least learn how to spell gait, not gate. lol. You do not ride a walking or racking horse the same as you would a Quarter horse, Thoroughbred etc. different breeds, different movements. Great job. Love seeing this horse posted and have a triple registered mare that I want bred to this stud.

    @qjblondie. gracielou2u is right... different types of riding styles takes different types of postures in the saddle. When you're showjumping, you have short stirrups, and you're leaned forward a lot more. In dressage, you have long stirrups and have an upright position, same with western. If you're a jockey, you have minimal stirrups and stand up during the entire race. When riding multiple gaited horses, like this one, you have longer stirrups and a slightly more backwards position.

    Great video! I remember the first time my mare single footed... I didnt know she would since she was Morgan with only a 1/4 standard bred... She had just turned 3 and had only been ridden a handfull of times with no real training... I was so eager to ride her I couldnt wait so I got on her and apparntly she was eagar too cuz she took off a min or so in and I had no idea what she was doing! lol It was soooo smooth but at the speed of a super fast trot! It was amazing!

  • @IAmRoderickDeVaughn
    @IAmRoderickDeVaughn 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cammarkgross most Single footing horse carry the Standardbred Trotter blood lines. Many will argue this point, but its fact. The foundation Sire, EZD Falcon Rowdy was Standarbred and Paso Fino. I can't speak for Homer, but if he carries the Rowdy bloodline, then he has Standardbred Trotter in him. You can also take any gaited horse with a Square and lateral gait and cross with a standardbred pacer and get a nice singlefooting horse but it will take a little training.

  • @Kittyinpink1234
    @Kittyinpink1234 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The bit is probably just a long shank twisted steel meant more for contact then anything and if you sit up straight while a horse racks, especially that fast you'll throw it all off balance and make both him and you very uncomfortable. The constant pressure on the horses mouth also aids in their balance while racking because with the forward motion their center of balance also shifts forward. So leaning back and pressure on the nose keeps the hind engaged and forward motion smooth

    • @mariroberson-soranch1476
      @mariroberson-soranch1476 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand that they need the contact to keep in gate but the leaning back looked awefully weird to me...unnatural. But man that horse NEVER broke gate! AMAZING!

    Yes I have, hours and hours, yet the horses back was fine when the ride was finished. My companions, who rode like this guy, their horses were sore. You don't seem at all concerned about the horses comfort and that is what separates you from a true horseman. As for confirmation, it has everything to do with how a horse rides. I think you have much to learn, good luck with that.

    @alwaysmmmusic It's something called "Pass" og "Passgang" in Norwegian, pretty much only known by Icelandic horses.. But also.. Paso's.. i think.
    In english I think you call it "The Flying Pace" and it's pretty much a fast, lateral gait that can reach speeds up to 40 mph. Some Icelandics just have it, but not all individuals possess that fifth gait. And when they do, they often try to do THAT instead of regular trot :)
    Please correct me if I'm wrong, this may also be something known as tölt. d:
