    Absolute legend! If you buy a Smaug you got to take that extra time to paint him.

    Great work. Can you list the name of the Vallejo colors used (only the Smaug, the base I have already painted). Thanks

    Hi buddy, great work, loved your choice of colours...sadly I was late to the party (as usual), when these amazing Smaug sculptures came out in never bought one, and now I wished I had. Just the mere thought of missing out on owning a piece of cinema history, I was getting suicidal thoughts....however I thought of getting an artist to sculpt me a bust of Smaug, but since then I've decided I shall have a go sculpting myself my very own dragon, so I shall give it a go. I draw dragons all the time, so I need to find that perfect pose. I'm pretty confident that I can do it, speak soon buddy 😊👍

      It's still for sale so you're not late to the party at all 😊

      But of course its very admirable that you want to use more than one artistic side and go head and sculpt one of your own. Good luck and please feel free to share your work with us

    Great job but I have to ask one question, why didn't you put the Jewels on his Belly? (I watched few Smaug vids and no-one seems to have done this) I have a Dragon I want to convert to Smaug and I trying to find out the best way of Jewelling his belly, any tips would be most gratefully received.

      For me it was time constraints. I did two at the same time, one for me and one for a friend in the UK. So I had a deadline for when I had to have them finished.
      I guess looking at reference photos, and paintings of fafnir from norse mythology for jewelled dragon bellies

      @@STFWargaming Thanks for getting back so soon, I'm thinking of gluing model Gemstones into place - any ideas where to get a good selection/right scale? 1/12th roughly

    • @STFWargaming
      @STFWargaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe craft stores. Don't know what the stores are called where you live but here they do sell tiny gemstones with flat backs for scrapbooking in hobby and craft stores.
      If you have the skill or want to learn you could sculpt a sampling of different gemstones or cut them out of plasticard, then use instamold or make your own rubber molds to cast them in resin.

    Fantastic work!!!
    What airbrushes do you recommend?
    What type of airbrush paint did you use?
    Thank you,

      For smaug I used a £6 airbrush from ebay. My compressor on the other hand is a £400 silair compressor. The most important thing is fantastic airflow. I have since upgraded to a sparmax airbursh. It's still a cheap model about £100 but it can do a lot more detail work than the cheaper one I now use for basic basecoating

      Mine is an old wood display cabinet with a depth of 13 inches and a height of 12
      inches and length of 33.5 inches.

      @@STFWargaming I don’t use a air brush. Would you advise (for, against) using a red “can” primer?

    • @STFWargaming
      @STFWargaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me personally I would not use anything other than an airbrush. Even a cheaper one would work nicely to lay the base layers down.
      But if rattlecans is your only option I would prime it with a deep brownish red. Armypainter might have something like that but I can't remember the name on my feet
