There is an exception to almost every rule: maybe, you're lucky! Marrying my Japanese ex-wife was the worst mistake of my life. But a friends Japanese wife seems to remain nice even after having children.
This is not a joke!!!!!!!! I was dating a Japanese woman for ten years before we got married, and I lived in Japan with her, we were married for ten more years and when this guy said they turn into monsters, he was not joking, and after we had our son, who is now six years old, she became even worse!! In the last two years of our relationship, I had enough, but I didn't want to divorce her as I believed we could work out our differences! I adored my son and he loved me very much, but my wife was jealous of our bond!!! One morning I drove my wife and son to his school and left the car with her, as I had to take the train to work, I said goodbye to my son and told him I loved him very much and I would see him when I got home that evening as always, and he said the same. I also said goodbye to my wife and she said the same with a smile. When I got home that evening, I was devastatedly shocked to find that she had left me and kidnapped my son😱😭 she had also taken the car and everything in the apartment! She had also canceled the apartment agreement!! And everything that she had done is legal in Japan!! I had done nothing to warrant such an attack!! I could not work as a teacher anymore because I was so devastated at losing my son, I couldn't stop crying at work, as missed him so much! I had to go back to England!! I am saving as much money as possible to go back and find my son, as he must be also devastated!! It was an evil act, as far as I'm concerned!! So make sure that you check all the laws in Japan before getting married to a Japanese woman!!!
Her father, becomes your father in law Her mother, becomes your mother in law Her brother, becomes brother in law Her sister, becomes sister in law Your wife, *BECOMES THE LAW*
My wife (From Tokyo) said to me,"You treat me like a maid." I replied,"If you were the maid I would have fired you after the 1st week." It went down hill from their
@Y grinding along. I remember her saying one night," Fine cook your own meal"! So I did. She was not happy. I remember the female friend that introduced us telling her," He is an American male. He can take care of himself." The wife still doesn't get it.
This is hilarious (and true!). I taught Business English in Tokyo for many years (eg. Sony executives). My male students loved to complain that the "allowance" from their wives was too low. Their wives didn't give them enough drinking money! LOL
I mean it’s not too different in America now if you get married or have a kid all the girl has to do is simply leave you and she still gets everything from you and she doesn’t have to give you anything either girls commonly get with young rich kids (such as basketball players) because they don’t know how things work and they can easily get they’re lives paid for while doing what they want
Japan's gender wage gap is at the bottom of the OECD. Japan is famous for being a male-dominated country. Because of the large wage disparity between men and women, men are forced to live a life in which it is difficult for women to be independent. This TH-camr makes statements that are typical of a selfish Japanese man. In order to "prevent Japanese women from being stolen away by foreign men," they use a lot of hateful expressions that demean Japanese women.
It's kind of scary how every "trending" video of Japan involves putting it down in some way 🤨It's literally the complete opposite with midlestrn/hspanek cultures.. of which the latter gets praised to no end. I'm sensing some kind of intentional degradation towards Asian culture by the ones in charge of YT🤨This is just downright creepy and disgusting.
@@Exdonn I'm mean your not wrong nor right. I saw videos on TH-cam downgrading white, black, Hispanic and other cultures getting downgraded but it depends if you firstly search it up or not and then TH-cam bonn you with it.
@@Angel-re3is Um, no. I never said I searched any of this up. If you read my comment I literally said "trending", meaning it just popped on my page without me ever looking it up. And BTW, I've looked up hspanek/midlestrn themes occasionally. So by your point I would at least see 1 negative video on hspanek/midlestrn culture. So far 0 to none. Unless I search it up of course. But again as I am repeating myself, I watch Japanese videos occasionally and am recommended nothing but negative videos about Japan. This NEVER happened with hspanek/midlestrn. It doesn't matter your "opinion" and "what you think you know." I'm talking about what I'm actually experiencing myself.
@@Exdonnyou’re thinking too hard. I see your point but it’s the algorithm. I rarely get negative Japanese stuff unless it’s about history but I get tons of “negative” stuff about western women and people without searching it up. I could look up an Elden ring video and a couple videos down would be a video about how western women filled full of marshmallows. Speaking from experience in America at least people here are constantly spitting in the wind. It’s sad.
I worked on the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme. I asked the girls in my class if they wanted to grow to up to be like their mothers ... all the girls raised their hands. I asked the boys if they wanted to be like their fathers ... none raised their hands.
Hey man I heard of JET what is it exactly ? Are you teaching English? I’m American and want to experience Japan even though I’m scared of work culture heard it’s crazy crazy
@@kawaiihikari0 Skip Japan, too expensive. Second, you're honestly better off going to a cheaper asian country and just finding a girl there that speaks Japanese EVEN IF what you desire is a Japanese-speaking Asian girl because you're an Otaku. I'm fluent in Japanese and lived there and can tell you Japanese women HATE otaku, utterly HATE them. Whereas you can find Chinese, Filipina, and other girls that love Japanese anime, probably can speak some with you (if that's what you're into), and you will generally get along with them much better. I married a Chinese woman who respects me (but I do have to put the foot down when she goes into tiger mom mode to ensure that is only directed at the children, but that's frankly the mother instinct ALL women have, if you don't make them shut-it-off when they talk to you it will be a problem), and while I might prefer Japanese language (it's easier on the ears), everything else is 10x better. Plus you can live in parts of China for $200/mo rent ($300/mo due to US dollar inflation) with no contracts, my entire living costs were like $550 a month, maybe you'd need like $700/mo now, I lived for years while doing remote American work making multiple times that. Lived like a king. In Japan you'd need like $4,000 a month to live in a major city. But it is pretty fun. I would just go on vacation trips to Japan (only like $300 flight from my part of China to Japan) several times when the urge hits me. Find a job that you can do remotely in America. Heck there are call center jobs you can do for like $18/hr in the USA REMOTELY, so then do it from China where $18/hr ($3,000/mo) makes you richie rich.Heck you could work part-time, just 20 hours call center in the USA and make $1,500 a month which is easily enough to live like a king in much of Asia. On a side note, (if you're still listening), I'll just say if you like anime, even just a LITTLE bit, that is strike one with many Japanese women, if they catch you watching certain types of anime, they will FREAK OUT on you. And if you're a christian it's strike two. When some Japanese female colleagues heard that I watched some popular shonen anime (if you watch DBZ, Naruto, etc. KEEP IT A DANG SECRET) it nearly cancelled out my good rep as Shacho, some mockingly called me the "Otaku Shacho". And even before that, it seemed like only the gyaru type girls were the only girls with decent english willing to speak (others too shy and poor english). It's much harder to go after the shy, modest, conservative types (you have to be able to speak FLUENT Japanese because their english SUCKS) that I would want there because Japanese nationalism is really weird compared to other countries. I disliked most Japanese women because they are so dang materialistic and godless. There are more christian trad wives in China where christianity is persecuted, than Japan where christianity is just mocked and non-existent as one Japanese friend told me, "you Americans killed christianity here" and told me how Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the christian refuge cities where christians hid for centuries from shogunate persecution and that the USA wiped out virtually all of Japan's christians and the Enola Gaye used the largest church in Japan to drop the bomb. Anyways, long story short, get a wife from a neighboring country, and if you like the japanese langauge just find a chinese, korean, taiwanese, thai, filipina, indonesian, or other wife that speaks japanese (studies it, or so forth). I'll admit Japanese is the most beautiful language of the region, but slap it on ANY of the women of neighboring regions (and I've dated most of those I listed) and they far exceed Japanese women. But darn if I don't prefer it. But if you want a shy, conservative girl (ASK them if they like America and if they say "Yes" RUN AWAY, very far away, the proof is when you follow up with "why?" and their answers are always materialistic bad stuff, like celebrities, money, fashion, etc. the correct answer is for them to shrug and say "I don't know", but "no" is better than "yes" but may cause problems if you try to bring them to the USA later since they don't like it).
@@kawaiihikari0 I see you work in IT, and have a good income. Save up like $50k bro and you can live like a king elsewhere for a few months or years and make a killing just doing remote IT work. I'd recommend China, Philippines, Thailand (great beaches), or other Asian locations. Japan and Korea got great cultures to suck you in but the women have issues and the living costs are just too dang expensive for foreigners, especially rent. In Japan the landlords often will reject foreigners altogether, they are even allowed in their advertisements to say "no gaijin" or "no filipinos" or "no africans" (landlords can openly discriminate on nationality and even on race though they usually will frame it around nationality to avoid getting labelled a racist but it's legal regardless). Many landlords generally view gaijin as unstable tenants, which is generally true. Korea is worse as they tend to require all tenants give them huge deposits up front (like $40,000 to rent an one bedroom apartment) unless you find a rundown place or look far outside the city centers. I found it cheaper to just negotiate with hotels for long-term stays (i.e. pay for 30 days at a time) than to get an apartment but it makes you feel like a permanent outsider until you can get a girlfriend to jeonse with you. Pretty crazy. Like to just RENT a 2 bedroom apartment under jeonse system you have to put up $80,000 and then live there "rent free" for two years as your landlord pays YOU back after 2 years. It's really weird. It's virtually impossible for foreigners to get a loan for jeonse in order to rent an apartment, you basically have to be rich enough you could just put the money down yourself or are willing to put a house down as collateral, you almost always have to have a wife or girlfriend do it for you. So yeah, that's why Korea and Japan suck as far as rent/living costs for foreigners. I liked Korean women more than Japanese women, but Japanese nightlife/cities more than any other. But Korea itself is so dang depressing after a while and I broke up with my korean ex because she became an alcoholic (they are like the irish of asia, love soccer, drink tons of beer, but with endless sad songs playing instead of upbeat pub songs) and didn't date others because the american-crazy girls are all materialistic and not my type while the ones that dislike America and are better women (conservative, patriotic) tend to be sometimes strongly anti-american due to US troop issues (lots of clubs there with "No Americans Allowed" signs or "No Foreigners Allowed" when I was there while others had policies of not letting you in if you don't speak Korean, though honestly I regret ever going to Korean clubs as the women in them are trashy just like in US clubs, I found better women ironically in their PC cafe's playing starcraft with them, haha) and their families were often a bit less accepting as Korea has a lot more ethnonationalism and "mixing blood" is frowned upon. One time I was standing in front of my hotel trying to get my girlfriend to come in with me and a korean grandma went out of her way to bump into me very forcefully. Ultimately skipped out on that and married a great Chinese woman, total trad wife. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore are great too, they are all used to foreigners and you won't meet as many people that treat you like you're different especially if you speak Chinese with them, I often felt like "one of them" (but I am fluent) and treated respectfully by their parents whereas Korea and Japan you are ALWAYS foreign to them and often looked down on by parents (unless they are western-crazy families who are materialistic scum that you don't want to marry into). Met her in one of the more christian cities there (she wasn't herself yet, but her sister and aunt were christian so she was open to it though her parents are still sort of noncommitted pagans). Basically if you want a tradcon wife with a conservative patriotic family yet still welcoming to foreigners you have to look outside of Japan and Korea oftentimes because ethnonationalist ideas are often interwoven into their form of tradcon. Hope I helped. I noticed the kek which is why I bring that stuff up.
@@TexanIndependence dude I read every word… thank you for this advice. So actually I’ve been talking to Chinese women. Well like 20 of them messaged me and so far only thing we can do is voice chat. But better than texting. Anyway I was talking to this one and she is by far over 10 years old than me I’m 21. But seems like she is in the right mind not materialistic at all and loves the same things I do nature, food, music, and more other intimate things I guess. So she has me kinda wanting to go to China (I know some of their culture from having international students from Korea, Japan, and China) and I love their food and their culture is very nice as well. I have a teacher and everything and she is helping me with 5 words a day 😂😄. You said in China even part time you could live comfortably which is crazy I live in Southern California sooo expensive. And you said work for a U.S. company and then move to China? Wasn’t sure what you meant as far as that because that’s another thing I need to secure. A lot of remote jobs are within the U.S. unless I target the few that are abroad somehow haha. What are the steps? Cause I didn’t understand on my part.

I was married to a Japanese woman and experienced all of this while living in Japan. Everything he says here is a fact. Dating is fine, but marry a Japanese woman at your own peril!
I'm married to a Japanese woman. She's not quite a "monster wife." However, she does have her moments with our kids, and depending on the situation, I'll either defend her or our kids. My best advice I heard from other foreigners is, "Study her mom." The advice is mostly true. Other than that, as a husband, you need to have a back bone and don't always put up with that behavior. Marriage is a foundation; not one person over another.
Well said, Manuel! Single men looking to marry a Japanese woman, "STUDY HER MOM." She is the woman your wife will grow into. This might be true for other cultures, too. My Japanese wife has a strong personality but I am just as stubborn as she is, if not more. We may butt heads every now and then, but we get along fine for the most part and always work together when life gets hard.
I've been married for 17 years like this and living in Japan for the last 11 years. I can confirm all of this--he is a comedian, but he is not joking. And it's all done without any yelling or arguing. Some of you out there are boyfriend/girlfriend with a Japanese woman, thinking that your relationship will be the exception once it progresses to marriage. Consider this fair warning from this comedian and myself...
Yeah. I have heard from a Japanese co-worker that if a woman is a housewife, the salary of the husband can be sent directly to her bank account. The company where the husband works also regard it as wage paid for both of them as if both are working for such company. I don't know if it was because of lost in translation but it sounded ridiculous to me.
That’s more of a “let’s discuss this while we are dating” because if the guy isn’t cool with it, they need to talk. I definitely wouldn’t be good with my wife taking most of my finance without a thorough discussion of where it’s going.

This I can confirm. My wife is Japanese, I'm Mexican. Completely different lifestyles. She was like a innocent girl when we were dating, then when we got married. She became Big boss mama bear. It was a struggle since she wanted most control of our finances, which was fine as she barely spent anything on herself and more towards our daughter's, but she was always asking for my paycheck stubs, and decisio making around the house. After about 8 years, she realized our way of lifestyle is a bit more loving and more partnership rather than dominance. Our marriage is still great and has vastly improved, especially when we moved back to California, and we love our daughters very much. I guess she felt like she needed to show her prowess in Japan so she can be a traditional Japanese wife/mother.
@@xminusone1 there was a guy in my family who would regularly do that. He had a wife and family and would go out for a pack of cigarettes and disappear for years. But he would come back, and be taken back. Those were different times.
lol never would have worked with my wife if she was that controlling. So I ask women this all the time, if you don't trust your husband to protect you, your home, finances, etc., Why On Earth Did He Marry YOU????
> I guess she felt like she needed to show her prowess in Japan so she can be a traditional Japanese wife/mother. I need a clarification here. To my understanding traditional Japanese wife is submissive to her husband but still capable of defending her home and children from robbers and the like. Is this not true? Or did it go out of the fashion along with naginata as a marriage gift?
This is not a joke, everything he says is true, if marriage is so unfair for most men in the west, being married to a Japanese woman is literally HELL on earth.
This is all true in Japan, and only in Japan. My Japanese wife and I got married in America and for the first 10 years it was a normal western marriage, but once we moved to Japan, my wife immediately went into full oni-mode!
You should keep her for she is a wise woman. She knows when to hold her cards close to her chest until they will give the greatest advantage on the battlefield of marriage. Is she related to Yamamoto Kansuke by chance?
advice I got from a friend who's from Japan while I lived there for 4 months in 2019: "dating japanese girl just fine, marry one and you regret for life" seems like it holds true based on this video lol

@@kazumakiryuu2668 Your favorite movie, even if it's "based on true story" is fictional. It doesn't matter as long as it still makes your day. The important part should be that the person cares enough to make you happy. Like when a husband meets his in-laws even if he genuinely hates them. It's cuz he cares for the wife's happiness. It's silly to downplay his effort just because it's a lie.
You've given me answers all right; but they were all different. What I want to know is, out of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?.... My dear Doctor, they're all true. Even the lies?....Especially the lies.
When I was married, my wife said that I should give her my paycheck. She continued saying that all of her friends get their husbands paycheck. She gets the money from him. She gives him what he owes. But it's gotta be legit. Asia is a big place and it's not the same everywhere. I can assure you there are big differences between all Asian cultures. I've dated women from the Philippines and Indonesia so I can at least confirm that they are very different. Plus women in Indonesia are not all the same for instance there's a lot of cultural differences just traveling from one island to the next, so don't try to lump all Asian people together.
What he said is a bonafide fact! I and many of my friends experienced this......and I have many stories just like his over the last 40+ years. It is so true it seems it is programmed to happen every time. Would I do it all over again? No. NO.
A friend of mine once introduced me to a Japanese girl who was a graduate of a Geisha school in Japan. I asked myself then, what would life be like marrying a sweet Geisha girl specifically trained to provide companionship and comfort to her husband? Would I live in paradise forever thereafter? Never did it occur to me that a sweet girl like her could turn into a Yakusa boss after marriage! Glad, I didn't find out. BTW, the Yakusa Boss wife applies to so many women, not just the Japanese. I know, because I have lived on 3 continents, and those "Yakusa wives" are everywhere!!!

Hearing a housewife being a yakuza boss makes the premise of "The way of the house husband" even funnier, because it's about a male yakuza who manage his household while his wife is the breadwinner of the family.
The Yakuza boss joke is no joke at all! I remember a foreign lady who married a Japanese man abroad, she was so shocked by how much his family ruled over him and how every family reunion ended up with all the women talking about the family money and plans while all the men where in a different room watching football.

It's no joke. Everything he says is true. Not just sexless either. No kissing/ hugging or affection of any kind. I regret marrying a Japanese woman. And what's worse is the fact that the divorce system doesn't allow for joint custody of your kids. So your wife will take everything and your children. The husband gets no rights to see their own kids! Because of that I'm stuck in a F'd up relationship until my daughter is older.
I am sorry to hear that..such are so , especially nowadays.. the aspect of divorce system in Japan is cruel I know, and parent alienation to the child, especially from Japanese family members, that when they are older the effects have caused issues for the child and is difficult for them to connect emotionaly with their gaigin father.. I know this.. basicly, Japanese phycology is very different and difficult for us gaigins to grapple with. Just keep the heart open and loving always, but with care and caution..lol.. Wish you luck on your journey.
it's not just the Japanese women, don't marry any woman in general, the same thing can happen to you in the West. Maybe in the Phillippines, marriage is better because in there divorce is illegal and cheating is a crime.
Lol this is funny to me as an Indian. Since most Asian countries share the same culture, I can totally relate to this. Even in Indian marriages, in some communities, the wife is the boss of the house and every expense needs to be approved by the wife - In our culture she is the manifestation of Mahalakshmi, the deity of prosperity and happiness and the husband is the manifestation of Mahavishnu - the solver of problems lol. In other words, she is the foundation and the root that makes and maintains the home, its ambience and provide good nutrition for everyone. Whereas he is responsible to provide the finances for this and remove obstacles that arise. This requires both to be disciplined - and women in our cultures are generally more disciplined about everything after marriage than men - who are still childish and carefree lol. Marriage is more than a romantic union in our cultures. Since they are an economic unit in society and are responsible to ensure their kids grow up to be smart and responsible, the husband and wife have responsibilities they must follow and they change as the family grows and evolves. This is not so much in western marriages - used to be in the 50s and 60s, but not anymore since they are a highly individualistic society whereas we are a collective society. So I can totally relate to the culture shock lmao.
Absolutely true. My niece (English) went to study in Japan, married a Japanese man. When I met her 11 years later in Japan I could see she had been coached by her Japanese mother in law. The husband defined modern slavery. No wonder salary men die at their desks.
Why men find it difficult to hand over all money to wives? What are you hiding her from, side chick? Gambling? 😅 As a woman, I will tell you guys a trick: if husband her all his money, she will spend it much carefully because its her money now, she would be strategic with it😂 and we only think about what benefit the kids, husband not myself.
@@AudieHollandmarriage in Japan is like teamwork, the wives barely spoil herself and she spends money that benefits all the member👍 It is collectivism not individualism like the West
My ex-wife was Chinese. It was the same. I put up with it for 20 years waiting for the woman I married to come back. It just got worse, and when I lost my job it was divorce. Now I live separately and have 50% custody of the children, and I am so happy to be out of that hell hole!
Maybe you thought you were marrying that "Asian submissive woman". Maybe "Asian submissive women" is a myth created by Western men who can't compete in the marriage market back home and took advantage of their socio-economic status to get wives in Asia
I realized this when I was Tokyo. Every married foreigner or local guy I met at a Izakaya explained this very well. Mind you, only a few were truly bothered by this but complained nonetheless about it. I still dated a lot of girls while I was there, but my pull out game is strong 💪🏽 🤣
I don’t know anyone who is married to a Japanese woman, but I did have a friend when I was a kid who’s mother was native Japanese. I remember her being very sweet and kind and the family seemed really happy. Even the dad, he was great. She had an obsession with strawberries, probably never had them before she arrived in the states I guess. I loved the way she couldn’t say “strawberries”. It came out as “Stadabeddies”.

Curious how many people actually had a conversation with their Japanese girlfriend before marriage to discuss their expectations or just went in thinking it'll all be good cause she's a "nice Japanese girl" and it's going to be better than dating an American.
I had many discussion with my ex before marriage. We met while in a language school in France. This was a work trip for me. While we dated, I had to regularly go to other locations/countries for work. She was fine with it, but once we got married, it was no longer acceptable. I switch to a position I would be home every day, except a three or four nights twice every three months. That seemed to still bother her. Once I retired and was home regularly, she left. The sex issue changed overnight the moment we got married and had our first child. It went from daily, to once every couple months, and even that she made it out like that was too much. She was very traditional in front of others, but like mentioned in the video, at home completely a different person.
I had a Japanese girlfriend for a few years and she was absolutely fantastic. But I think you're right. I saw the signs. She would scrutinize every charge on the phone bill. "This 2 dollar tax makes no sense. Why do they charge $2? Is that a mistake? Can you call the phone company?"
All women can recall every single detail, no matter how small, and use it against the man, even if its 20 years later. Women have that as a super power.
The part about the women turning ferocious is very true lol. My mom is extremely tiger mom and I thought she was always that way as I was growing up, but according to my dad she started off as a cute, shy girl. For me, my parents introduced me to a Japanese girl, now my wife, who originally started off cute and gentle, is now constantly yelling at me, criticizing me, dictating the bank account despite I'm the only one working, and basically controlling my life. Just as Meshida says though, its kind of expected so it never bothered me lol. I have western friends married to Japanese women and are constantly complaining to me about their marriage problems. There's a saying in my hometown that Japanese women are katana wrapped in silk and it's very true, but I love them to death for it.
Actually, controlling the finances/expenditures was considered the women's job for centuries, particularly among the samurais. You are the mistress of the house in the most traditional sense.
You need to talk to your wife and make sure she accepts that you have equal control over the finances and household as she does. If she doesn't believe that, then she doesn't love you. Society overlooks abusive relationships when it is the wife being abusive.
I actually had a beautiful Japanese college professor explain this very thing to me when she learned I was dating one of the Japanese girls in the class. The single most important thing I learned in college

Fair enough. Thanks for the warning. I’m married to a Filipina and they have some of those qualities. Filipina wife’s are a bit odd in that culturally they are like 1/2 Asian, 1/4 Spanish and 1/4 American. Which means they are bossy at home like Asian wife’s, drama Queens like Spanish wife’s and like American wife’s they are pretty handy to have around in case your mule or water Buffalo up and dies on you. As a Japanese man I will return the favor and explain five reasons you should not marry an American woman. #1. American wives are like tornadoes/typhoons. It’s hard to tell when they are coming and when they go they take your house with them. #2. American wives have an odd type of OCD. They want to control everything in your life without ever actually having to make a decision. If you ask an American woman a question you will usually get one of two answers. “I don’t know” or “I don’t care”. This is a trap and a lie. They do know and they do care and expect you to guess what they want and by god you’d better guess right. #3. American wives, particularly ones from rural or provincial areas, like to sing through their noses. We call it “Country Music”. It’s a bit more painful to listen to than committing sepuku with a butter knife. #4. American women have big butts. Some men like big butts but Japanese men seem to prefer petite women. However many American womens butts are so big that they have their own postal codes. #5. This is probably the biggest reason a Japanese man should not marry an American woman. American women drink red wine with fish. Which, as is well known, is a sure sign a person is evil. So thanks for the advice and I hope you find mine useful!
I am very happy with my beautiful Japanese wife, she really is perfect, all she wants to do is make me happy. In fact the biggest argument is when I do housework, she says it makes her feel like a bad wife. Yes she manages the money, but she is very good at it. I honestly could not be happier, she is beautiful, sexy and the love of my life. We have one son live in Yokohama and have been married for twelve years.
There're exceptions to everything. In fact this doesn't apply to only foreign men but all men Japanese or other wise. Japanese women are especially coy and cute and never show their true color until they literally hook you into marriage. But they are scheming and shrewd not very communicative (which can be said on both sexes of Japanese society).
Then talk to your aunt and tell her that she should love her husband and stop trying to control him. He deserves an equal say in finances and the household. It's abusive of her to try to control her husband like that. People wouldn't accept this if it were a husband controlling a wife. We need to stop accepting it if it is a wife controlling a husband.
1:39 That evolution phase is not just in Japan. It applies to all countries. I reckon the girlfriend phase is like k-drama or Disney movie. After marriage she becomes sadako or kayako. (from your previous video, your Singaporean friend)
His stage name, Meshida, is the Japanese expression used to call the family to dinner. When the food is on the table and ready to eat, the cook calls out, “Meshi da, meshi da!” The literal translation is “It’s a meal”, but the colloquial meaning is “Time to eat”.
Yes!! my family name is 飯田. usually Kanji has 2 reading way. Offically my family name is Iida, but this Kanji can also read as Meshida. So I picked up Meshida as my stage name!
Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess... "Will you marry me?" The Princess said "NO!" And the Prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles with pretty girls and went fishing and raced cars and played golf, and went to girly bars and dated women half his age and drank beer, whiskey, and milk from the carton and NEVER HEARD ANY BITCHING and went to rock concerts and kept his apartment and his favorite clothes and never got cheated on while working and all his family and friends thought he was cool as hell and had tons of money in the bank, and scratched his balls without criticism and left the toilet seat up goddamnit.
Okay, after watching the video and a good while reading countless comments, i would say, more that a %90 agrees with Meshida-San. Horrible stories down there. Wanna go to Japan really bad, beacuse i think it would be pretty interesting culturally speaking and such, but I'll just stick to the bath houses, thank you very much! 😂 Arigato Mashida and all of you dudes for sharing the truth 🙇♂️
LOL! Well done! Wish I had known this like 7-8 years ago, I think you can all guess why. We are divorced now. But this is completely accurate, except I didn't agree to give her my whole salary, just a part of it. I still see her regularly because of our son, but yeah, don't go there. They do the Pokemon thing for real, and the cafe' thing was sooo on point that I nearly fell off the sofa from laughing. Well done, Meshida-san, well done.
So I’m a 4th generation Japanese American who married a Japanese woman, from Tokyo, here’s a tip: you don’t have to do what they say. That’s the thing, you may get nagged or harassed a bit, but ultimately there is zero consequence to saying no to your wife. I think that’s what makes Japanese women great! They’re sane, caring, loving and above all, understanding. You don’t get that here in the states. I love my wife, best choice in my life to purpose to her, feel like I have a solid partner in life. And yes, we have kids. Japanese dudes just need to get tough and say no if they’re not into the way their marriage is going.
Sadly, that's because you live in the state. Your wife has to adapt to the state's culture. Japanese society is completely different. Anything which could possibly violate a tradition can be scrutinized by the whole community. You can say no. Yes. But most of the time, that will result is everyone around you giving you looks. The weight of the entire culture will fall on you. I lived in Japan for a few years and that part of their culture scared me. They usually take it easy on foreigners though. Just harsh on the Japanese themselves.
True. It works both ways. When you talk about "sane and caring" (even for Japanese husbands), have you read the crime section of Japan Today? There's been some stories of "insane" husbands and wives.
And I bet she's not a huge corn bred heffer like white, Hispanic and black American women. That's usually the main point of dating an Asian woman. She actually has the shape of a woman rather than the shape of a refrigerator or blueberry.
As an Asian man with a French wife i see this an absolute win because i know all the kind of the shit that an Asian wife would do when I was a student. Its funny because almost every foreigner male is blind, literally when it comes to dating Asian women.
This guy is awesome, makes me miss the good old days of comedy where people could make jokes and not get harassed by people who can't take a joke. Keep up the good work, friend!
I am married to a Japanese, and I can 100% relate to this video!! I have so many thoughts and suspicions, and I couldn't confirm them until I watched this video!!
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 EXACTLY. This video acts like women of other races are submissive. Which women? Black women? No. White women? No. Latina women? Hell no! Maybe some filipinas/thai who are exploited because of their poverty, but that's a poverty-power-imbalance and not because they are "better" women. The REASON this issue comes up as a SURPRISE to the mostly white otaku who often try to marry japanese girls is because those men are similar to japanese men in being PUSHOVERS because they are unconfident nerds. I married a Chinese woman, and noticed a similar thing once we had kids, she went into tiger mom mode, and I had to PUT MY FOOT DOWN when she would turn those mother instincts on me, since I am NOT her kid, she doesn't get to talk to me like one (conversely, men you have to not act like children, step up and be a real man in order to demand that respect). Japanese men, like white otakus, have similar problems, though often the issue for Japanese men is they lack religious convictions so they simply turn to p**n to fill their s*xual urges, which is why Japan has the largest p**n industry in the world despite being 1/3rd the US population they spend 6x more money on a GDP-per-capita basis on the myriad of p**n and mast*rb*tion aids (there's a reason Japan is leading the way on female robot girlfriends/AI girlfriends and it's entirely s*xual). Basically rather than escalate their relationship problems and stand up for themselves and address the issues in the room to save their marriages, they instead escape and either rent pr*stit*tes or just watch p**n (often weird stuff). Point is, ALL women have MOTHER instincts once married or with kids, it's just that other confident men know to put the foot down and train their women to turn off mother mode when dealing with them (which often requires stepping up so mother mode isn't necessary to be turned on in the first place, which an unconfident otaku nerd of the type who often seek out japanese women, probably 80%+ frankly needs some badgering probably). Plus, that otaku nerd probably had to hide his anime habits from his japanese girlfriend because they HATE otaku, so once she gets married to him and finds out he's an otaku it's not going to go over well.
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 Yes, it's more a woman thing than a Japanese thing, hence the warning phrase, "She didn't change; she just got tired of acting."
しらない間に離婚された問題が一番怖いと思う。I think the scariest thing about marriage in Japan is that you can be divorced without your knowledge or consent. All your partner has to do is fake one signature and then hand the paper to the city hall. You'll lose complete access to your children, because Japan does not have joint custody laws. This is partly why men here fear their wives so much. If you are foreign and your visa depends on your marriage status, then you will be forced to change your visa status or face deportation.
Really! No need to personally show up in court? Interesting... But it is certainly a crime to fake a signature? And it's not that hard to prove a signature to be fake, is it? An instant divorce may have downsides if you have children, but apart from that I'm very positive about it! (In Switzerland you can delay a divorce for two years for no reason. My Japanese ex-wife ruthlessly exploited that stupid law.)
@@employee8449 Since this means your abusive partner can ruin your whole life without any warning I see nothing positive about it. Just handing in a document at the town hall is enough. There is no court case unless both parties take it to court, but that is unusual. Faking a signature is obviously a crime but it's impossible to prove and no one is going to take such a case to court. Besides signatures are nothing compared to Hanko, or personal seals in Japan. And anyone can use your personal seal on a document if they have it. I'm sorry you had such a hard time getting divorced. International marriages are certainly very complicated and have poor legal protection.
@@darkjapan Why does being on your own again after divorce necessarily ruins your life? Because you have to pay a lot? Or is there a social stigma? I understand there are complicated cases, mainly if you have children or also if you own a house. But if one partner decides to break up, the relationship is over anyway. Obviously, consent is preferable. But if your partner is toxic, why should you not want to break up and get divorced? My ex-wife kicked me out of my apartment because I lost my job. Obviously, this was the end of our relationship. But she then delayed the divorce to get more money. That was very annoying, but it didn't ruin my life. Never getting divorced would have ruined my life.
@@employee8449 I think you answered your own question. You lose your home, your children, your visa status and most likely your job too. Many people will put up with a bad situation to protect their children from abuse. I'm really sorry about what happened to you, and I can see how a quick divorce would seem appealing in that case. But divorce should be a consensual thing and that consent should be more thoroughly verified than just a Hanko.
@@darkjapanAgreed. Of course it is terribly wrong if a Hanko that is safe and easy to fake serves as the sole proof of concent. Still, I think divorce should be easier under Swiss law, especially for childless couples. Just one more question: How hard is it to get divorced under Japanese law if you decide not to fake a Hanko?
how my freinds marriage of 10years went in the usa 1 spent all his money 2 did not do any of the house work 3 always yelled at him for not making enough money 4 always complained he slept to much *worked 2 fulltime jobs* 5 always insulted him and made me feel worthless the divorce was brutal but once it was over he felt like he was in heaven told me if ever mentions getting married again to beat some sense in to him ^_-
59 years old. Decided not to marry at age 20. Still happy. And why? Because of 16-11-15: 16 relatives married. 11 divorced. 15 divorces, total. (Two of them divorced 3 times.) To all engaged men out there I say, "Good luck, gentlemen."
Your 11 relatives have been doing something seriously wrong because I got married at 21 and have been for the past 20 years. Best decision I ever made.
@@floralfancy7814 The US has exceeded the 50% mark, but yes... they're also an very unfortunate example. FORTUNATELY... I never felt pressured to marry. I'm much better off for it, now.
My nephew is married to a Japanese woman and has two beautiful daughters. They have been together for around 15 years and he is completely happy now. He was never happy with the American women he was dating before moving to Japan. Yes, she has seriously taken on the roll of mother and does run the house hold but she is NOT obsessed with being in control of everything. My nephew and his Japanese wife are totally happy with their individual rolls in their family. They both are a lot happier then most all American couples I know. The kind of American guy who might not do well is the kind who expects his Japanese wife to be like a young school girl who is totally subservient even after being married and having kids. This kind of guy will really be disappointed.
Those two daughters, no offense, are now mixed race. They may face problems in Japan. And if they move to the country of the nephew, depending on where, they also may not be accepted. Mixed race kids are cute but they face their own problems as they are not truly Japanese and not truly whatever other country they're from.
I think it’s a little funny because I dumped my ex Vietnamese fiancé after 2 weeks giving birth to our first born son because he was cheating on me during my whole pregnancy with a Japanese woman… 2 years later he contacted me so desperate to be back with me because he was being neglected and didn’t have money to live a stable life with his wife… needless to say Karma is just ✨👌🏻
He only cheated because you made him feel terrible and the other one made him feel alive again, so it was your fault that he cheated - I heard this so often from western women who cheated, especially american women. And according to feminism it is always the men's fault when a woman cheats. But women are never to blame. But as more men are just giving up on dating and marriage - as you say: Karma is just two thumbs up.
@J Anda Are you Japanese? Maybe you can tell me then this: when a japanese wife cheats on her japanese husband in Japan is it still his fault? I am fairly certain that, when a japanese husband cheats on his japanese wife in Japan, it is his fault, isn't it?
I've been with my partner over ten years, and we've been married for almost six. She's Japanese, and all we did was decide the dynamic of our relationship and how we wanted it to work from the start. She appreciates the freedom of a more 'western style' marriage.
@@ChrisHeart-kr1uqThis is an incredibly rude and uneducated comment. Japanese people are dying out because half of them aren't getting married and having children so their numbers are dwindling. Telling people they need to kill themselves is immature and grounds for jail time.
This isn't all that different from marriage in the West. The biggest differences are housewives are an endangered species, and Western men usually wait till after the divorce to give their wives all their money. On behalf of your wallets Japanese men have my condolences.
当たり!You really hit the nail on the head, Meshida-san! Forty-six years ago I went to Japan in search of "Yamato Nadeshiko". Instead, I came back with Japanese poison ivy! @@Live4This To be brutally honest, YES! My wife is far from the western idea of a Japanese woman. Thirty-eight years married and a total of forty-six years together, I think I made the right choice. The "Yamato Nadeshiko" is quite rare after marriage as Meshida-san said. The "poison ivy" is what kept me in line. Do kind of miss the tiger in the bedroom, though.....
I was appalled when I heard Japanese wives yelling at their husbands so much just because he wanted some small amount of money to go to the bar. Kowai 😥. The other major difference is that western men (unless you get a dud) help with chores, raising kids, etc. Western men will not put up with this kind of abuse for long.
@@silverwings8486 In America, the cost of living is too high, so only if you make 2X average salary can you afford normal living expenses with a single income or stay-at-home wife (very uncommon). Japan has a lower cost of living and you can still manage family expenses with a single income.
I have just subscribed. This observation is interesting because when I was a little boy, I watched Godzilla/Gojira and his friends on television. Watching the big guy destroy Tokyo and other cities along with Rodan/Radon and Mothra/Mosura and fighting other kaiju like King Ghidorah was not the only reason; it was also to look at the cute Japanese women in these films. With your perspective on Japanese women(from a comedic view), it’s no wonder Godzilla/Gojira is a single parent. Great video. 😎✌️😂
It's the perfect system. "It's a joke!" he says. "LOL, but it's true!!!" the others say. "But we said it was a joke, so it's okay, they aren't allowed to be mad about it." So then, if a woman comes in to say "Hey, maybe this isn't okay guys" everybody can point and say "See! The woman is too sensitive, that proves it! Sheesh. Can't take a joke at all!" So the women have two choices: stay silent and let the echo chamber resound with agreement, or try to chime in and be ridiculed as proof for speaking out. 🤷🏻♀️
I can relate and share mines. This also applies to Japanese American women depending on how they’re raised, which personality passed down, and how strictly they run the house. I’m a Chinese US-born man and even though our two cultures is similar in many ways, our habits are vastly different. We have three kids by the time we are in our late 20s and I already feel like I’m growing grey hair. Most of what Meshida spoke of are absolutely true and marriage life takes a lot of commitment in this case. There’s a lot of consideration that involves in enrolling good schools, early education, and connections with family.
I'm used to imagine that Japanese women were this way, but now I'm sure thanks for this video it was great. I've subscribed in your channel pretty fun and very informative you're.
This is 100% factual! I know, because I am married to one. She was very sweet and beautiful, but after we got married the Charizard came out, even though we have no kids. I still love her, but our marriage isn’t what it use to be. Yes, Japanese men don’t want to go home after work. They stay out as long as possible after work. Although my wife and I have separate bank accounts, she still manages the family bills. Half the members at the gym are housewives. They stand around and talk about their kids, pets, and vacations while eating their obentos in the lobby.
I think every country has their own problems. That's why before marriage it's necessary to talk about the expectations and priorities of both sides. Because marriage should definitely be a long term partnership and it shouldn't matter if your wife is a housewife.
Sir, no woman will express her mind clearly....by evolution they are optimising mentality....means they are never satisfied and always looks for the best available in the situation.....men are satisfising creature...they just look for what satisfies their needs or wishes and never bother what's best or worst..
@@martincoleman8755 ha yeah that’s a good point. When dating people will say all kinds of crap and not even realize themselves they don’t really mean it. Look at their family and how it really works, that’s what they’re programmed to expect.
All sadly true. But, I think you missed the number 1 problem: Japan has no joint custody system for children. It is effectively 'winner takes all'. And the winner is generally whichever parent abducts the kids first - even if illegally from other countries. It is really screwed up... and Japan has refused to seriously address it for decades.
Yeah I was told a divorce means wife takes EVERYTHING. Thats why Japanese men working in Malaysia have defecto wives and even known to the wife. He cant afford to divorce her.
No, they are purposely encouraging women to destroy families by stealing the kids & leaving the husband & robbing them & so on because 'The So-Called (((Government)))' hates humanity & wants a dead universe, & obviously the population is going down because men there realize 'the so-called women' of Japan R all totally evil & a complete waste of time, which is sad from a 'cultural preservation' perspective but what does it matter if 'self-abuse' is your 'so-called culture'?

And you said work for a U.S. company and then move to China? Wasn’t sure what you meant as far as that because that’s another thing I need to secure.

Consider this fair warning from this comedian and myself...
Sounds to me like your wife has confiscated both your kin tamas and locked them away in a jar somewhere. My condolences
I thought all marriages are like that?

I would like to speak with you about this in a PM if you are able. I am in a similar situation and really have no one to talk to out here.

So thanks for the advice and I hope you find mine useful!
thanks!
Your comment is gold i love it
Amazing 🤣
Drink.... with, or, like... Because the sentence doesn't make sense??
I thought #2 is a universal thing for all women? :)
Good for you my friend, I wish you and your wifey a happy eternity together! 🙏🏻
Um... wanna help a brother out... ahem. lol
There're exceptions to everything. In fact this doesn't apply to only foreign men
but all men Japanese or other wise.
Japanese women are especially coy and cute and never show their true color
until they literally hook you into marriage. But they are scheming and shrewd
not very communicative (which can be said on both sexes of Japanese society).
She manages the money? How much of a beta little soy boy are you brah? Lmao
Marriage is a death trap whatever the culture for many people. I recommend that people don't do it conventionally,it just ain't natural.
My uncle married a japanese woman and I can say with confidence that this video is 100% accurate
It's same everywhere n in India too. Just need to make aware to all young men in world about this
1:39 That evolution phase is not just in Japan. It applies to all countries.
I reckon the girlfriend phase is like k-drama or Disney movie. After marriage she becomes sadako or kayako. (from your previous video, your Singaporean friend)

(in)famous last words
Weight of the whole culture comes down on you?

True. It works both ways. When you talk about "sane and caring" (even for Japanese husbands), have you read the crime section of Japan Today? There's been some stories of "insane" husbands and wives.

Married to any woman is the same
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 EXACTLY.

Man, you may say it a joke but you have just described perfectly my life in Japan. Hahaha, keep up the great videos!

It's the perfect system.
"It's a joke!" he says. "LOL, but it's true!!!" the others say. "But we said it was a joke, so it's okay, they aren't allowed to be mad about it."
So then, if a woman comes in to say "Hey, maybe this isn't okay guys" everybody can point and say "See! The woman is too sensitive, that proves it! Sheesh. Can't take a joke at all!"
So the women have two choices: stay silent and let the echo chamber resound with agreement, or try to chime in and be ridiculed as proof for speaking out.
