I checked my fishing spot a few days ago saw a guy 50 feet off the bank sitting on lawn chair ice fishing no shelter. It was 14 degrees with wind. We’re froze and snowed over today. I’m not that dedicated… My grandpa was. Thanks for the video!
It's crazy how different the shiners look in TN vs. FL ours are short and fat with a golden hue those were more silver with a black top...I love your tenacity, can't catch a bass well let's go for the next best thing. I really appreciate your passion for fishing! As a creator it's OG's like you that keep the hope of building a realistic community of anglers who just love fishing. Really I am a fan! Thanks for keeping it Realistic!!! Love it!
Winter is a really tough time for realistic fishermen I used to have the best luck catching catfish in winter but I'm almost 50 now and don't like cold weather much. Appreciate the vedios you make they really are realistic
A great winter fishing video Alex!! Those stone rollers are such cool looking fishing. We don't have them around here. Glad to see you were able to get out and do some fishin. Thank you for always keeping it realistic Alex 😊
There's nothing like some good ol winter creek fishing 😂 it's tough, but man, it can be beautiful, meditative, and a great learning experience. Trout, Smallmouth, and of course them good ole Shiners and Chubs are always there to save the day!
Persistance has paid off. Similiar weather here in Northeast Ohio. Your recommendation of fishing small creeks may just be the ticket to break the cabin fever spell. Now, where the heck are those long johns that I have grown out of? All the best to those that go out to brave this winter cold. You are an inspiration.
New subscriber here from Upstate New York Rensselaer County, the 2 rivers behind my house are partially frozen, waiting impatiently for spring…your videos are keeping me occupied
Alex - you just inspired me to hit the creeks tomorrow. Louisville still has several inches of snow on the ground and there may be some leftover stocker trout for me to find. KIR!
I am A comment champ. J/K! Glad you were able to get back to the water. About the thing to fish for here in the winter is Trout, which is my preferred year round fish anyway. Idaho has enough trout to choke a camel. Look forward to seeing you go for those stocked trout again.
It's been freezing cold and frozen over, but not enough to fish on. I don't go out on ice though so even if it was thick enough I wouldn't be fishing. At this time of the year you could be catching minnows and I'd consider it a success. The fact that you got those stonerollers is awesome. This is always the most down to earth and realistic fishing there is.
I like to pack a set of my many pairs of garden pruners just for those thorn bushes! Can give those walking trails a nice trim without causing too much damage to the vegetation. Pruning is better than just breaking the branches off.
Never ice fished but I did catch a pickerel in a pond near my house near the Maryland Delaware line while there was snow on the ground and the water was slurry with ice. I was proving to myself that I loved even the act of fishing with the littlest of hope of landing something it was my time in the wonderful creation it is that was valuable. Then when I caught one it was all the more glorious.
Alex, the fishing has gotten horrible of course due to the time of year, but your beard is looking great! Been a bit since I last tuned in the channel due to life…happy to see you are still up and running strong brother ✊🏼🎣 KIR
That creeks looks a great place to fish, a bit like the smaller streams we have over here in The UK. But even better you now have 101k subs, well done, I am at 306 subs lol Tight lines and KIR
Hey Alex those old rock stars were pretty cool… oh wait you called them stone rollers, not The Rolling Stones! Sorry couldn’t resist, great job pushing through the cold and catching those fish! Stay warm!
I had never heard of a Stoneroller but it looked like is was part of the Carp family. So I looked it up and it says that it is part of the carp species. and they get up to 6 inches in size. Very cool video. I feel like I am learning things. KiR!!!
Any public stocked trout lakes or ponds nearby? State park? Where I trout fish mostly and do very well believe that's where they usually stock more of the bigger trout
@RealisticFishing man, that was a great song back in the day.... "Outside I take deep breath I get real high Then I scream from the top of my lungs What's goin' on And I say hey... And I say hey what's goin' on And I say hey... I said hey what's goin' on"
Sup Alex, grind out a few, haven't seen a stoneroller in 40 years since about 10 lol. My favorite creek can't get to last few months, have to go thru homeless camps on way.. told grandkids stay away. Tyvm tc 🎣
Thanks Alex for toughing it out. I was hoping you would get a couple trout but alt least you did bend the pole some. Thanks bro

Thank you for teaching us how to fish a creek. I know I for one usually fish at lakes. So this is very helpful
They still bite in winter, in creeks like this. 👍
Small minnow is the way to go when the fishing is tough! Good call! I hope they bite bro!!!

Its about to get colder around here. It could get a bit tough, but I will keep trying
Alex - you just inspired me to hit the creeks tomorrow. Louisville still has several inches of snow on the ground and there may be some leftover stocker trout for me to find.

Good luck out there!
We jumped on the local trout right after they put them in. Always a fun winter day when you go fishing no matter what you get!

KIR 👊
Stone rollers look pretty cool. Don't have them in my area, but we do have hornyhead creek chubs.
The head spikes are crazy feeling 😅

4 catches, not too bad!
Wind died down here after over a week of 30 degree temps and 30 mph wind! Can't wait to get out!
KIR!
That's one of the places where it all starts, the ponds and the creeks.

I got crazy lucky with about a 2 lb bass yesterday on a gold spoon bouncing of the bottom. Stocked pond in Oregon.
Those were great-looking fish.
👍 Fun to catch too
Liked the creek video! KIR
👍 KIR
Dealing with muddy cold water after all the snow
Nice wintry fishing. Glad to see you catch something. Creeks and ponds iced over up here in NJ areas. Boo Hoo

Nope. The thought of freezing my fingertips off automatically turns me off to going out in the cold.
Maybe rename your channel REALISTIC CATCHING. Because that catching action was almost too much to bare!
