    A thing that I'm really impressed by that goes unnoticed is just the fundamentals that he possesses. He does the work to get in advantageous position, not just relying on his size/length; he works to get in front of his man & present a target, takes a few beats then repositions, then smartly relocates during the action to then establish a better pass. Just high level intellect and importantly Effort stuff at this point in his career bodes sooo well.

    He looks exactly like footage of rookie and pre-rookie Wilt. The unstoppable combination of length, finesse, coordination and mobility. He doesn't have Wilt's powerful athleticism but he has 3 inches of height and 5 inches of wingspan to make up for it. This really is a couple-times-in-a-century physical specimen absolutely built for basketball.
    Growing up in the modern era with bigs expected to be stretching the floor and without crowding in the lane he's almost exactly a what-if of Wilt in the modern game.

    • @Leptyzz
      @Leptyzz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @rageagainstthehygiene2357 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@Leptyzz Please don't insult me. Wilt absolutely had guard skills, he often ran the fast break and he even led the league in assists. But things were different back then and he was expected to get to work around the rim.
      Like I said, "Growing up in the modern era with bigs expected to be stretching the floor and without crowding in the lane he's almost exactly a what-if of Wilt in the modern game."
      They're comparable in that they're both impossible combinations of length and mobility and that's why they're kinda broken. The game isn't built to handle guys who are that long and that quick, and they can get their hands to the ball essentially anywhere. Wemby has more length, wilt had more strength, but the comparison is there and it isn't "Low IQ".

    Wemby is so skillful and elegant for 7 ft 4 /2.24 m! Moreover his shooting mechanics are top notch. But the most surprising and mindblowing things to me are how he holds his ground against strong NBA defenders with a weight of 95 kg/210 lb and how well he defends himself. What a shot blocker 🤯 This kid will bring hoops fans a lot of joy. I just love how almost every other year generational talent gets off to a flying start in the NBA establishing their own distinctive bball style, we've never seen before. The 90s were my golden age of NBA basketball, but i have the feeling we're about to witness another golden age. Steph, Giannis, Joker, Luka, Wemby and so many more....

  • @kokomiyah1348

    I don’t know about putting Giannis-like muscle mass since if you search some footage of Giannis’ jumper early in his career, it’s much more fluid and has more touch, which indicates putting that much weight could affect some of his skills. They need to find the right spot when it comes to that department. What I do know is that Wemby is already flexible and agile enough. Once he matures into his adult body and “see” the league once, I believe he will develop into one of the greats. Hope he stays healthy for a long time!

      @uuh4yj43 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      i dont think he will be injury prone either , but i get the feeling he will eventually get injured this season as his minutes climb up and he sees more physical play. playing him with another big is a good sign tho, since it can take the pressure off him when they go up against bruisers like giannis and embiid on some possessions. he is very light and not that strong so he will probably get pushed around a ton on post ups and screens which can be pretty bad, but i dont see him getting injured on vertical plays since he seems to be very aware of his own body, which again bodes well for the more serious injuries

  • @thetruth4654
    @thetruth4654 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

    I don`t think Wemby should put on a lot of muscle mass, that will put more pressure on his feet and knees, meaning that injuries are going to become a big concern. Some of Wemby`s biggest strength is his speed and agility, his length alone is enough to cause issues of opposing players.

      Muscle mass in the legs will actually help prevent injury and place LESS pressure on the feet and knees because his body won't be weak. He will become more speedy and agile from muscle mass as that muscle mass will help him move better

    • @uuh4yj43
      @uuh4yj43 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      weight training is a thing athletes do bc it helps, not only on the court but in preventing injury, him becoming stronger will improve his joint stability, will make it harder to move him mid air and on screens plus increase his bone density and muscle quality, which not only prevents injuries but make it easier to come back from them. embiid for and example had his worst injury was when he was much lighter than his current playing weight.

      @@brycesmoov3313their defense could improve tho, its very early in the season, and he is a real difference maker on that end, his oppfg% differential in every spot on the floor is already crazy, if they fix their scheme and everyone else steps up their effort as he gets more minutes they could climb to upper echelon of defensive teams, even if i dont think theyll win that many games. their defensive rating could still make him dpoy candidate or his individual production at the very least all-defense. i unfortunately dont think he will play the whole season tho, he seems pretty durable for how thin and tall he is but rookies do be getting injured, specially high production one's

    As a Spurs fan, the one thing this team is missing is that "Extra pass" mentality. They all want to pass but they are still not at that Spurs level of passing where there's an extra pass that makes for an easier score. Often times guys would be wide open but missed because our player is focused on his move with the ball. Over time this will get better and we might see another version of "The Beautiful Game" from this Spurs squad

    Wemby just has to stay healthy and he'll make the All Star game, win rookie of the year and it's not inconceivable that he takes the Spurs to a possible play in game at the end of the season. Love how he is aggressive and wants the ball down the stretch. He is currently 3rd in the league in clutch time points behind LeBron and Doncic. There was a reason so many teams tried to tank last season to draft this guy. MJ, Kobe, LeBron and now Wemby. We are seeing the next generational talent right here!

    I've watch every minute of Spurs basketball this season. Wemby has like a 90% success rate when he does the Luke Kornet move when he can't reach for a block. It works amazingly because in their heads players have no idea if he can reach the ball or not cause he's so tall so him just fake going for the block from super far away still throws them off. Its insane he already does that so effortlessly when Kornet just invented that last year

  • @princemjbp695

    With his body type and ability, Wembanyama reminds me of a young Kareem. Watch a video on here named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Highlights in his Prime/1969-1975. The difference is that Kareem played mostly in the low block because that was the style of play. But I think doing so also kept him relatively healthy and allowed him to play 20 years. IMHO, running the court in this way is going to be tough to sustain over time for a man of this size, especially as he fills out and gets stronger. Would love to see him try the sky hook. Kareem was unstoppable with that.
