I wouldn’t say it’s a total lie. The part about competition lowering prices is a lesson we all should have learned from. We have something like two or three major grocery companies that own a monopoly over the price of our food and have raised those prices dramatically due to lack of competition. It’s a similar issue with health insurance and is basically an issue with just about everything we buy. The auto companies are making more and more mergers and that will raise prices there as well.
@@seanswader7425 Also also, the government has gotten involved with most major industries, which also inflates the price. They either bring money into the industry (like college loans) which raise the prices since if you're being offered free money, why wouldn't you take it, or artificially prevent competition and encourage mergers into a few major players (healthcare, phone & internet, etc) which is where what you were talking about comes into play. We don't have capitalism so much as nationalized socialism: Companies approved by the government and play ball with the folks at the top benefit, while start ups and smaller companies are forced to occupy niche or regional positions.
Capitalism is actually a better system when it comes to giving because it has proven to increase individual wealth, which allows its citizens to give out of their increase. Communism has proven to simply make all its citizens poor, except the very few in power who decide where the wealth goes. But even capitalism won’t work, by itself, as a system for aiding the poor. It depends on its citizens to be diligent (Proverbs 10:4) and generous with the fruits of their labor (1 Timothy 6:18) and to give out of love for God and neighbor. Thus, we see that God has designed for the physical and financial needs of the poor to be met by Christian individuals, rather than by any system of government.
