Surprisingly, I think the two you smashed were a set. Like a scaled down version of a Victorian era wash basin and water pitcher. I absolutely love the candle sticks and the toad as well.
Froggy would make a nice succulent pot, or pencil holder. I'll bow to your artistry about the candle sticks- I've lived thru the green ceramic period-- don't want to go back! I totally agree with the overly dramatic pitcher, and you should value your time... look how much of yourself you give to people (like me), don't spread yourself to thin.BTW, you're looking great!
Thank you so much!!! The froggy would be the perfect friend for succulents!! Imagine the little critter!! I have so many cute ideas for that friend!! Thank you so much for your love and understanding what goes into all of this. It means the world to me! I am so happy you enjoyed this video!!
I think that the jug & bowl may go together like the old scool water jug & bowl washer for washing hands or face, in the 80s/90s there was a reproduction craze of them.
Hi Shelby! I read somewhere...hold on... Tip: Plaster scraps and old molds can be broken down and mixed in to compost, providing a source of calcium to the soil.
That toad would be so cute as a little garden statue. I want to put him among my flowers and maybe put a little straw hat on him. (I use small garden statues as places for small lizards to bask because the statue gets warm. Then the lizards stick around and eat any pesky bugs.)
Shelby the jug looks like one from a wash basin set that people used before running water to wash their face and hands etc. If it is from one of those sets there should be a matching basin to go with it.
This is why I post this content. I’m so happy this video could be a nice lovely safe space for you 💕 I hope you can find some flowers in the yard to put on display or do something nice for yourself!
@@ShelbySherritt we're deep in winter here in Sweden, but I think I'll do some sewing! Thank you for these safe little spaces you create, I can't wait to see what you make from these molds. 💐
OH good!! hahah I am not familiar with the toad and frog variety!! It was just looking strange but seeing it without the legs, they definitely need them!
Oooh those bubbly candlestick holders could also make a great bud vase! I don’t know if it makes sense from a firing perspective, but I kind of liked them with the pouring collar before you trimmed the top up. Is it possible to perfect that vs cutting it off?
OOOh! Im not sure!! I am so used to just cutting those bits off I never even took in the column as something to include!! I'll have to have a play around and get back to you!! I think thats also an excellent idea for bud vases. I just love them as a set together, so freaking cute!!
As someone approaching fifty, I honestly thought they were vases when the mould was opened, as I remember vases like them being really popular in the 80’s and 90’s, which I think were a throwback to the 60’s at that time.
@@ShelbySherritt the top part you cut off looked the perfect size for a candle to me, when you trimmed it the hole looks too big for a candle but it might just be the video.
That 1989 set feels very Memphis Milano (a style that actually started in the late 70s and went well into the 90s) and I love it to bits! If you look up the style, you'll see there is a lot of potential for mixing patterns, textures, and colors in those little things. Also, I bet they could make a great salt and pepper set with only a little tweaking!
It’s too bad the bowl and pitcher set couldn’t be salvaged - tho I understand the reasoning! But you were talking about a new style craze, where you’re putting bows on things for that… I don’t know, fluffy princess look? I forget what you called it, but that set is exactly what folks in that genre would love. LOVE the toad. HypoToad, of all things, has been back in craze here in the States, complete with big plastic toad purses, planters, you name it.
Mount the toad on a small plate, paint it like a pool, with him on a pad, put a hole in him for a plant, and mount a bug on his head. I'd buy him without a second thought!! As for the bubble candle holdes, you could also mount a bug or a flower on them. Do your tyedye treatment and they are 60s. The revival of that shape yet again is so funny. They keep coming back around.
Love your work. When you pulled the frog out of the mold, I thought it would make a great piggy bank. Thanks so much for sharing your art with all of us. :)
Totally agree with your judgement, the bowl and pitcher needed too much attention. The bubble pair would be excellent bud/ flower vases, or desk accents for pens, paintbrushes or scissors. The shape and combination are so pretty. I love the toad with the feet, any holes on the back could make it a holder for toothbrush, pens paintbrushes, spoons, or a soap dispenser. Cheers from the Midwest USA. 💜
I think the toad could be a coin bank (?). I love that you share your thought process and share your creative ideas. You are a true inspiration Shelby. THANK YOU.

I have a few episodes filmed up already!! I have brought someone on as a content editor and social media friend at the start of the year so hopefully over the next few weeks she will be able to help get all these videos edited and released for you all!
Yeah, I noticed this too. He has chubby rounded toes instead of pointed toes. I wonder if it’s because pointed toes would be too fragile and too difficult to get out of the mold.
Yes!! That’s it!! I could work out why they looked different! @annie_annie__ might also be right either way the comment on pointed toes! I think they could break too maybe a bit of sculpting!
Candles would be cool painted in hombre! I was worried you wouldn't get one you liked there for awhile but the smash must be somewhat satisfying? Frog was adorable - big seller I bet. Thanks again for sharing your find. It's a lot of fun and very interesting.
Thank you so much for playing smash or pass. It was really wonderful and I am looking forward to see the next video. No pressure! You are just wonderful ❤Have a nice weekend.
These are in such great shape!! I can’t believe how clean they are!! The tiny vases can also be used as salt and pepper shakers. You just have to get the rubber stoppers for the bottom and poke holes in the top!!
My Grandmother used to collect frog pieces. Every time you open a cast and find a new one it warms my heart. Also given how many of them I have seen over the years it looks perfectly normal with the legs the way you had them the first time.
I don't know if you have covered this but I would be so interested in a video about your production schedule. For example - do you do things in stages so you cast a lot then move on to glazing and firing or do you always have some pieces in each stage of production? I am just very curious how you manage that part of the business :)
The froggy seems to be inspiring to everyone! I would love to see his back covered in flowers or greenery--fresh or dried, so I would make little holes all around his back to fit stems in and close off the bottom. You could make each hole large enough to hold a pen, pencil or paint brush so those who don't want to use him as a vase would still have a use for him. 💖💖
Hi Shelby, I think the candle holders could be little vases if you left the top bit on instead of cutting it all off , what do you think? I love the Frog, there really is so many things you could do with it, make it into etc. can’t wait until the next video. X

I love frogs also. I have them all over my house, from crochet, to ceramic in my garden. Oh and earrings I almost forgot, thanks to my granddaughter. Can't wait for your next revile. 🐸💖
The little frog could hold sponges and such for the kitchen sink. I immediately thought about your little koalas holding your candle stick holders. I know whatever you decide will be so cute.
I honestly think the big stompers on the toad are very charming! I’ve seen big toads in aquariums and they do look like bodybuilders 😅 Could be a cane toad or African toad. Imagine it with its chonky legs and a delicate little butterfly or bee on the snout!
For variety, you could sometimes leave the excess clay on the bubble candle holders and make them into vases. Would look good to have a grouping of candle holders and vases. Also, for variety, you could cut a large hole for the toad's mouth and use it as a kitchen sponge/steel wool holder.
