- Some pros and cons of the KTM 150 SX from my perspective. I've owned this bike for 4+ years and wanted to share some thoughts I have about it so I decided to come up with 3 'likes' and 3 'dislikes' about the 150. Pros: Sound/Fun Factor, Great Handling, Very Lightweight. Cons: Carbureted, Stock Suspension is just ok, Requires a lot more shifting than 250F and 450. Overall, it's an awesome bike that will teach you to be a better rider. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

Thanks man! If you can find a 150 definitely go for it. They are a blast to ride and the extra HP over the 125 is very nice to have.

I had a '09 150SX and had similar thoughts on it. The power was crisp when it was running smooth. Very temperature sensitive. And when it decided to cause problems, it caused problems. I didn't realize how soft the suspension was on it until I was riding a KX450F of the same year. The bike was fun to ride, very nimble. Just had to stay on top of it to really enjoy it. When it spends majority of the year having work done, it really takes away from the confidence in the bike. I actually have a video from Oct 2014 on my channel where you can hear it give away. The next month, I got a KX250F, and it still goes strong to this day.
KTM bikes have come a long way since 2009. I haven't had any issues with my 2019 and have 100+ hours on it. But I agree with you that a solid running bike gives you the most confidence! What year is your KX250F?

I like the way carbs feel as an enduro guy, maybe they're worse for wide open racing
I like the way the carb feels when it's absolutely dialed and I have the lectron pro tuning pretty much perfect at this point, but I think for people running the stock mikuni it can be annoying to ride a bike that is rich or lean. The stock carb is harder to get perfectly dialed at all throttle positions.
I really want an upgrade on my bike, I have a klx140 atm but tbh I want a 250. Do you think I should upgrade or keep practicing on a smaller bike?
Get the upgrade, and keep the 140 if you can. I got my kx250 2 stroke, but sometimes I just wanna vibe on the ttr230. Gives you the best of both worlds.
KLX140 is a really low maintenance and fun bike. Ride that until you think you need more power and are ready for a 250.
@@DerekHallman yesterday my choke was stuck in so it wouldn’t start at all, all it was was the choke wire stuck in and then it started first try. So yeah they are a really low maintenance bike. Thank you
I also might ride my mates yz250f on the weekend so I’ll see how I go on that

If you want to get a better feeling in the suspension try the kyb spring conversion kit, I have it in my 22 gas gas and it’s one of the best feeling suspension setups I’ve ridden. If you want to try it out meet me at Southfork some time!

Dang bro you make me want to go out and buy 150 now I'm not a big KTM fan at all but I would be interested in riding one someday I sold my YZ125 and definitely miss it..that bike looks sick 😁👍🔥

Thoughts on KTM going out of business? Are you worried about it and ir not being able to get parts for the bike or think it will blow over and be fine?
I think they will consolidate and the flagship KTM brand will come out of it just fine.
Do you think that a 125 2stroke would be a good 2 stroke starter bike I’ve ridden many 4 strokes I just would like to get a 2stroke
Hey Derek, I recently got a 2021 150sx with 3 original hours on it. But it kind of runs terrible. I’ve read that the stock mikuni carbs were trash and had issues. Trying to decide on doing the JD jet kit ($80) , or getting the lectron carb ($800). Did you have to do any tuning out of the box? Worth it? Thanks

I love my 19 150 just rode it for like 4 hours at glen Helen today but I got the jetting perfect for conditions but it still sputters and doesn’t run like yours might get the lectron. Also what gas do you use in yours? I run like have 110 leaded and half 91 pump

@@_Kiara_Cat_ very much so, though it depends on how hard you hit the jump but in general you should always stand up off your seat when jumping

5:43 No it wouldn't but thats not a con for the bike lol. If you "ride all the time" and don't wanna worry about the carb bc someone doesn't know how to tune it then sounds like a personal problem not a bike problem
