Killua Zoldyck duh what do you expect for them to tell the composer other than “yo Ive created a level full of food and forks I want a theme song around that topic”
Yeah the writer needs to capture the level so he must know exactly what it is. Im sure they got at least lots of concept art to look at and descriptions of every level.
Unusual time signatures work really well for environments like that. The beat is constantly changing making it hard to follow. Its easy to get lost trying to follow the rhythm, making it quite fitting for a place called the "lost isle".
I feel like most people are simply turned off by hearing “video game music”. So they force the idea of it being bad or not real music. I swear if you just gave them the music without any knowledge of it being from a video game and one they don’t recognise they would appreciate it much more

Cascade Kingdom has a Mario Galaxy feel in the music. Brass holding the fanfare of the melody, driving percussion and chords, winds and strings giving the melody to the brass and rising and falling afterwards.
That's my favorite song in Mario history, for real. No other song will better suit the epicness of reaching that beautiful world and contemplating how amazing this game is visually and gamplay wise.
