I’m curious how this repair has held up. The TH Marine replacement with a wire cable recommends not using it on an Edge. Apparently the wire will wear thru the attachment point for the release resulting in a far bigger and more costly problem. I’ve had 3 cords break in a year, 2 were MinnKota brand pulls and the 3rd was 550 paracord. I covered the wear points with heat shrink but it broke elsewhere. And, we have not fished very many times during that year. The last break was miles from shore in the La marsh but luckily I had a spare cord and handle on board. I’m thinking about trying Amsteel cord or lawnmower pull cord.
I don't know if the cable is still working. I sold that trolling motor last year. While I had it, it showed no signs of failure. The rubbing issue is why the factory rope broke.
the bottom pin jams in the c shaped holder. Take a 8 in round chainsaw file and smooth out the holder works smooth as silk you can get the file at harbor freight for less than $10.
