I would recommend a secondary fence or wire enclosure around your entire rabbit area. Because yes raccoons could reach though this kind of wire and grab the rabbits. We even had stray dogs knock down one of these big rabbit cages and chew the rabbits through the wire 😭😳 So then we built a chain link dog run around the rabbit area and didn’t have any problems with predators.
I don’t have a great way to do that yet. 😕🤔 I’ve always just pried them apart with a flat blade screwdriver but it’s a very fiddly process and takes a long time. Once I get it open enough sometimes I’ll use pliers to grab the part that’s starting to open up, and pull hard to force the rest of the clip to unroll enough to come loose from the cage wires. I’d love to have a better, faster way.

I saw someone wedge an pick into the middle and lever it open.
